  1. Pretty awesome pitching night all around. Rivas, Jeffress, Scarpetta, Burgos, and Fredrickson.
  2. Huntsville explodes for 7 runs in the 6th inning. Lawrie has two doubles and two rbi's. Rivas with an okay outing tonight (love the strikeouts though). Edit: Taylor Green with a grand slam too. Is it just me, or has he hit quite a few grand slams this year?
  3. I think Odorizzi is going to follow a similar path as Gallardo did in the minors. He'll finish this year in low A, start next year in high A, and then get promoted to AA mid-year if he is throwing the ball well. There's only a month left in the minor league season, so I don't really see any significant promotions coming. Maybe Rivas and/or Rogers gets bumped up to AAA, but that might be all we see (hope I'm wrong though).
  4. Yes. Please, for the love of all that is good and holy, call up Rivas in September and give him a couple of starts. Just for something different at least. Watching Davis, Parra, and Narveson stink it up is getting old.
  5. I love it BrewCrew. Sign me up. 2011.
  6. I think the signing of Hart coupled with Gamel and Lawrie moving to other positions spells the end for Casey McGehee as a Milwaukee Brewer. There just simply is not enough room for him in the infield. Gamel will hopefully be at 1b and Lawrie at 3rd. Wonder what that line-up would look like.
  7. I'm okay with this as long as they plan on moving Gamel to first base and Lawrie to third. Reasonable contract money-wise too.
  8. I really don't think Melvin and company are that delusional to think that we are/were still in contention. No trades were made because teams weren't willing to give up good prospects or major league ready players. I really hope we actually play some of our youngsters down the stretch this year. This includes Cain, Gamel, and possibly a pitcher like Rivas. That being said, I just don't see it happening. Like you though, I am also at my wits end, especially with management.
  9. Even the Cubbies are doing something. http://twitter.com/Joelsherman1/status/20008860121
  10. Classic. That about sums up this entire deadline so far.
  11. I don't think it's that teams don't want our players. I think they're trying to give up crap for our players. That being said, I hope something happens. Even if it's just Edmonds or Counsell being traded for a lower level prospect. Trading Edmonds will allow Cain to at least platoon with Gomez for the remainder of the season.
  12. Just an awful trade for the Astros. This has been one of the more bizarre trade deadlines that I can remember.
  13. Yeah, Pineda's numbers are sick and he's only 21 years old. Could you imagine him and Gallardo for at least the next five or so years together?
  14. Getting just draft picks for Fielder doesn't sound like much fun to me. We're looking at 2015-16 before those players could even begin to help the big club.
  15. I think Melvin just hates the idea of selling. Has he ever traded for a high-upside prospect? I believe Sexson, Overbay, and Carlos Lee were all traded for average major league players.
  16. Would a Dunn trade "shock the world" though? I don't know.
  17. Shock the world? lol, well I guess it could be Prince since it was reported that he was taken off the market yesterday (thus shocking the world!)
  18. Oh yeah, I knew what you meant Rock. I was just saying.
  19. Then they better plan on getting at least two, maybe three new starting pitchers who aren't old and washed up. Not trading Prince and/or Hart is going to make that very difficult.
  20. Knock on wood, but Gamel seems to have recovered nicely from his injury and is hitting the ball pretty well in AAA right now (defense is still an issue though). So when and how does Gamel get another opportunity with the big club? September? Spring training next year? And by another opportunity, I don't mean getting one start a week in September. I'm excited again to see what Gamel can do in the big leagues given the opportunity.
  21. I would imagine there are going to be quite a few scouts at the game tomorrow night checking out Hart. Still a very minor chance he gets traded, but you never know I guess.
  22. Yeah, this has been an awful year for trading for prospects. Houston and Arizona got shafted in their trades and I agree with everybody that trading Prince for a package of players similar to the trades we've seen so far would be an ugly mistake.
  23. ESPN just reported that Oswalt has accepted a trade that will send him to the Phillies for J.A. Happ and two prospects. The Phillies have now traded for Cliff Lee, Roy Halladay, and Roy Oswalt in a matter of one year. My question is, how can Philly have a farm system left at this point?
  24. Yeah, no kidding. He's pretty much pitching mop-up duty for a team not even in contention. Doesn't sound like much fun to me.
  25. Geesh, this is setting up to be a very disappointing and boring deadline. Teams seem to be really overvaluing their prospects this year. It appears as though it's going to take a desperation move by one of these teams right at the last minute for Fielder to be dealt.
