  1. So, he may still be right. A guy getting on via a walk may score may often than a single. This could be due to pitchers wildness including additional walks, WP's, etc.
  2. I just love leadoff walks, especially in extra innings.
  3. Probably Scott, Biggio and Bruntlett this inning. Lets see another scoreless inning here Bush.
  4. NIce work by the pen so far today: 4 pitchers, 4 IP, 1 H, 0 R
  5. . According to the previous article posted, it looks like the rotation will go back to normal, and Villy and Gallardo will be in the pen.
  6. Rockies just hit a 2-run shot in the 8th...6-4 Scrubs.
  7. Especially if Miller gets on to lead off the 9th. That would be a perfect spot for a pinch runner. That being said, how about a pinch hit homer for Graffy to end it.
  8. I would think Cordero would be in here. Yost doesn't mind using him at home in a tie game, since there won't ever be a save situation from here on out.
  9. That's the way to do it T-Bow. Now lets get some runs and let Cordero close the door.
  10. Sounds like they said 31000+ at the game. It was the PA announcer in the background, so not sure if I heard it correctly.
  11. Rockies cut the Cubs lead to 5-2. Zambrano should be done for the day, with 107 pitches through 6 innings.
  12. Anybody else rather see Suppan up there hitting instead of Gross? Even if they are bringing in another pitcher.
  13. There are many pitchers like this. This is why I don't agree with Sabrematricians that say pitchers W-L is pretty useless. Some pitchers just know how to hold on to a lead. If you only score one run, the pitcher will shut them out. If you score 6, he may give up 4 or 5. If you have a lot of the latter, the ERA etc. won't look very good, but wins are what matters. I am not saying W-L is the be-all, end-all, but it is more important than many give it credit for.
  14. Uek said a big rain storm went through just before the game. They had to put the tarp on the field, because the roof didn't close fast enough.
  15. Did people forget that the Brewers have a day game today? It seems awfully slow in here today.
  16. If you like the old time pitchers, Wednesday is your day. 7 scheduled starting pitchers are 40 or older, including the Brewers foe, Woody Williams.
  17. From this report on ESPN, it looks like Benoit strangled his wife, smothered his child, and hung himself. What a piece of garbage. Good riddance that a guy like that is gone, but its a shame that his wife and child had to lose their lives as well. sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=2917133
  18. Actually, the organization is 1-2 in no-hit games this year. I believe Huntsville got no-hit (7 innings) in one of their double header games last week. Does that count?
  19. Wow, Prince and JJ have combined for 4 more homers (43-39)than the entire starting lineup for the Astros. Sheets weakness is giving up the longball, and there's only 2-3 guys to worry about in that whole lineup.
  20. Yes, because NL teams always pinch hit for their 3-4-5 hitters. In order to compare apples to apples, you'd have to compare NL PH's to AL #9 hitters. Not to mention, most PH's are opposited handed of the pitchers. Since most pitchers are worse against opposite-hander hitters, an argument could be made that NL bullpen's are tougher. Overall, I'd say it's a wash.
  21. Good thing Ned doesn't know what he's doing, and let's Mench hit against a righty.
  22. Today's lineup: Hart Counsell Braun Fielder Hall Estrada Jenkins Weeks Bush
  23. 5-0 now after 3. The Cubs have stranded 7 runners so far. It's so much more fun when it happens to them instead of the Brewers.
  24. Cubbies down 3-0 in the 3rd. They already left the bases loaded with nobody out in the 2nd.
  25. I wouldn't go that far. There were many better results than a walk there. Of course, it's better than an out that wouldn't score a run. In fact, a lot of hitters would walk in that situation since they'll usually pitch around a guy to set up the double play. In all, it's a good at bat, but nothing special to say he showed why he was kept up.
