  1. Great game, I was in attendance. One thing though...who the heck was out in LF starting the wave during the 8th inning of a tie game, with 2 outs and 2 strikes on Albert Pujols? That is textbook not wave time, if there ever is a time.
  2. I'm looking for a handful of tickets to the White Sox game on Saturday, June 13th. Shoot me a PM if you have some and you cannot attend.
  3. Gillespie = right handed Frank Catalanotto maybe? That would be a decent, not great, everyday leadoff guy.
  4. I've written things (player news tidbits) through RotoWire that ESPN has tossed into their insider section. Yes, the guy with the Guy Smiley avatar and animated Jungle Book quote in his sig. The only reason ESPN Insider is "special" is because you have to pay for it. I wouldn't.
  5. Doesn't sound like the Cubs fans were the one's who instigated the fight in this particular incident you describe.
  6. 16.2 IP, 17:6 K:BB, 1 HR, 0.55 ERA. 54.8% GB, and doing it against both LH and RH batters. This guy just needs a decent chance.
  7. Yeah, this is rather ridiculous. First big thing I've strongly disagreed with Macha on, his handling of Gamel that is.
  8. Sausages wrapped in t-shirts shot into the stands is the greatest idea I've ever heard, and I'm not kidding. How hilarious would it be to devise and carry out that promotion? And the execution was epic - the sausages exploded upon firing, with pieces of bread and meat showering the crowd. That's epic.
  9. Great move, Melvin. How do we clear room for him on the roster? DFA Julio, then send down Gamel for a reliever after the interleague series?
  10. I don't think Hall should have ever even been told he's guaranteed certain ABs. The manager should use the players as fit, and that changes day to day and week to week. No promises, because this is what happens.
  11. So Brooks, would you agree that Brad Nelson got shafted a bit on his recent demotion? Or is that just the way it goes? Many here feel like he didn't get an appropriate chance at success.
  12. Excellent interview. It would be awesome to see Brooks around here in some capacity.
  13. My college semester ended last week, and I still have no summer employment for while I'm living in Green Bay. My question is, what's the best job search resource, specifically for the Green Bay area?
  14. Don't let this pitching staff fool you into thinking they are better than they are. We have about 8 guys beating their projected ERAs, and 3 more about matching theirs. (And then Julio.) We can't really expect it all to continue, they will certainly have their ups and downs.
  15. Hall can only hit LHP, Counsell can only hit RHP, Gamel can hit both. The solution should be obvious.
  16. But Jamie, just because someone else is greedy doesn't mean you should be as well. Just because this is how capitalism work doesn't mean you should always take advantage.
  17. First comment of the thread: If HY is attempting to profit off of this "hobby" by getting maximum value for the things he collects, it has crossed into a business. And the business of withholding someone's invaluable items to sell back to them is malevolent.
  18. I have put little thought into this, but don't forget about Ottawa/Montreal/Vancouver.
  19. I'm wondering if there was a handshake agreement between Melvin and Nelson where if Nelson agreed to go down to Nashville he would be given regular PT and hopefully get his mojo back, and then after the interleague series or no later than September 1st make good on the handshake agreement and bring Nelson back up. I'm guessing that Nelson had already cleared waivers, and if he had not cleared waivers they would have pulled him back and the move not made. Yeah, I'll go for this too. Good thinking. They'll have a pretty hard time sending Gamel down if he's hitting over .300 or smacks a couple of dingers in his limited PT though. They might like to see if Randolph can give Gamel any fielding help in the next week or two as well.
  20. To clarify this very vague request, I mean the things circled in red below: http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d175/sbrylski06/thumbs.jpg
  21. A counter for each forum posting, like youtube comments. Can cut down on the number of one line responses to agree. (Apologies if already suggested. It feels like it had been, but I couldn't find it reading through quick.)
  22. NY/NJ is the only place that could support a decently payrolled team. Portland, Sacramento, and San Antonio have three of the best attended minor league franchises. They could probably take on teams, not necessarily competitive ones though. EDIT: As for nicknames, Sacramento was the Solons or Senators for much of their independent PCL existence. I like the former for a big league club. I know we can't have a major league club called the RiverCats.
  23. What determines Super Two? Braun came up in May as well. It's different for each guy right? Of players with less than 3 years of service time and more than 2, the 20% (IIRC) with the most service time are Super Two and awarded arby. Braun was brought up on the 25th of May. I'm fairly certain the Super Two cutoff has never been as early at May 13th. I'm really not sure I like this move. EDIT: If battlekow is correct, this move makes a bit more sense. I'm surprised that they didn't at least wait until next week when he could instantly DH. Given that this is happening a week before then, you have to assume they plan on keeping him up for good rather than just the stint of interleague games too. Who's leaving? Nelson? McGahee? I'll guess Nelson.
  24. If true, that's "interesting." If he's up the rest of the year, it can be assumed he will be a Super Two. Really, they should wait another month.
