  1. I say we go talk to the Reds, they aren't shy about giving up solid talent for a pen arm.
  2. Hey, mister. I like Darren Ford. (Jim Gaffigan?...no?...nm...)
  3. I'd have to dig up the article to see if it recommended AB or PA. I'd imagine K/AB is more accurate, because K/PA can be skewed if you walk a lot. And I would love to see some form of fielder independant pitching metrics used if something like this was to happen. FIP, LOB%, and BABIP would be great. Fairly simple yet often overlooked aspect of pitcher evaluation by "casual" fans.
  4. Stupid Pam. Solid episode, but I wish we got to see the fight.
  5. I got the Hardball Times book and really enjoyed it. Maybe that's what wrecked the BP book, because I got it two weeks later with high hopes. This was my first year purchasing either. I'd give the Hardball Times book a 7, while the BP book gets a 2.5.
  6. Obviously its early, but those standings look completely inverted than they have been the last few years.
  7. but where else can you get that much information for about 20 bucks. 99% of that book's information can be found on the internet for free, I believe. I regret purchasing it.
  8. You got the props from Powell and you can't come through. Tsk. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  9. I guess to me, a main page is something with frequest updates. I tend to only look at it when there is a new story - usually I just skip right to the forum. Brings up a good point. So much of the business is done on the forums that could be done on the main page. Even things like the Daily Link Report (which is one of the sites best features, if not the best) could be done off the main page rather than the forum. It might seem more "official". Just a thought.
  10. It'd take more than Capellan. Last season the rumor was Milledge for Zito.
  11. I hate the home-run cut. 99% of the time, it results in a plain old swinging strike. Like Billy says, "Don't show the power, let the power show." (Or something like that.) Maybe he should tell Prince that, often Jenks as well.
  12. I, as always, will put my money on the Polish. And the ball will be under the middle cup. And the attendence will be the very first one listed.
  13. 1:05 PM CDDT is more appropriate: Certain Dodger Destruction Time
  14. I'll be the first with a negative post... Counsell!? C'mon Yost.
  15. In 93 cumulative PA against LHB last year, he had a .144 BAA and a .357 OPS. Not the greatest competition, but still really nice. Profiles into a solid LOOGY.
  16. Batter - Gillespie Pitcher - Inman Not too bold, I know.
  17. what do you mean by "state dependent"? A double with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth and down by one is worth a lot more than a double with nobody on in the first. It depends on the game situation.
  18. Sam, you probably haven't been following all of the draft threads. Obviously not. I've pretty much just been reading the profiles in the draft section of this page, and then this thread. Thanks for the info.
  19. I've got to start getting familiar with this upcoming draft class. I haven't been following along. From what I know so far, Burgess sounds great. However, I would prefer to see us draft up the middle early. I think I like Joe Savery. I like him because he's a college lefty. Its going to be rather tough for Z to keep his hands off one of those High School righties though.
  20. Samsonite! I was way off! I knew it started with an "S" though!
  21. What would it be? WPA / PA ? I'm sure its out there, what is it called?
  22. Also, as a hitter, isn't it better to have a smaller strike zone? And shorter height=less time to stand and throw. I'd assume with shorter arms he wouldn't be able to generate great ball speed, but his is phenominal, so no worries there. I think Salome is in his own class.
  23. Walker might hit a little better than Counsel OPS vRHP Walker Year Counsell .828 2004 .674 .783 2005 .720 .793 2006 .692I think it'd be safe to say Walker will hit better than Counsell. But if the defensive concerns are that high, I can understand staying away.
  24. First name Will makes it one of the greatest baseball names ever -- the fact he's a pitcher clinches it -- lefty, even better. Sorry, I'm still lost. Is there something obvious here that I'm completely missing?
  25. At this point, its looking like Rottino will be our 25th man. I'd take Walker over Rottino. If he really is being released, I'd be quite happy with signing him.
