  1. I think the Bucks are in a position to actually add a guy with decent upside and the chance to help out the team this year. I'm really liking (from reading, watching film, and remembering from watching during the season, I'm by no means any big film guy) DiVencenzo, Khyri Thomas, Aaron Holiday, Josh Okogie, Zhaire Smith, Kevin Huerter, and Troy Brown in that order. A big part of why DiVencenzo didn't start was because of how stacked that Nova team was. Think he'll be just fine in the NBA, and as an "older" prospect, might actually be able to help out this year vs some of the 1 and dones.
  2. Just trying to think of the pros for both Turang signing or not signing. Signing: pro is obviously adding another top 10 organizational prospect, hope another solid SS who can stick at the position, hopefully still leaves some of the under slot $$ that's been saved with the guys who have already signed, to be able to sign some other guys in rounds 11+ Not signing: with the Brewers getting the compensation pick in the post-round 2 portion of the draft this year, this means they get the competitive balance pick after round 1 in 2019, correct? So this would mean, if things shake out roughly the same as things stand right now, they could be looking at something like picks 22 (from not signing Turang?), 25, and 38? 3 picks between 22 and 40 would allow them to get quite creative next year. For this year, as they've already signed a lot of guys under slot, and might be able to use that savings to bring in Cabell or some of the other round 11+ guys if Turang doesn't sign, that could also be a positive for this year. Either way, I feel like it's a win-win.
  3. Wasn't he at his college graduation and then his godmother had a heart attack and passed away? Dude, chill.
  4. As a fellow LSU fan, I agree... However I hope Turang isn't playing for LSU (but as a Brewers fan & LSU fan, I honestly see it as a "win/win situation") Agreed, with Turang being gone basically no matter what, I was happy he went to the Brewers. Not sure if this is a good or bad thing though, that no other current player or signee has been picked. Sign of the level of talent decreasing? Will be nice to have a big part of the core back next year though.
  5. As an LSU fan, hoping this means Hess, Watson, and Cabell are all on campus next year.
  6. Scouting and development, something the Brewers don't know how to do with pitchers
  7. Agreed on this, I think the only way to get him to sign now and not go to to free agency would be 10 years $400M. He'll still only be 35 in the last year of that contract, unlike some of these other horrible contracts like Pujols and Votto where they'll be 40 at the end of their deals.
  8. Scenario: Runners on 1st and 3rd, One Out. Fly ball to the outfield, caught by the outfielder, runner at 3rd tags and crosses home plate, the runner at first base does not tag, goes to second base, ball is thrown to 1st and the runner is double up, but the base is not tagged until after the runner on 3rd base crosses the plate. Does the run count? Is this a "timing play" or a "force out"? Thanks in advance!
  9. PLAYER 3PA/G 3PM/G % James Harden 3.7 10.0 36.7 Eric Gordon 3.2 8.8 35.9 Gerald Green 2.7 7.3 36.9 Chris Paul 2.5 6.5 38.0 Trevor Ariza 2.5 6.9 36.8 Ryan Anderson 2.0 5.1 38.6 TOTAL TEAM 15.3 42.3 36.2 BUCKS 8.8 24.7 35.5
  10. I think you nailed this one right on the head. It seems like free agents who join spring training late, end up having results more along these lines. I still think they're all good pitchers, but not going through a normal spring training I think is what is really crushing them.
  11. Nice fielding right there by Villar, still so glad DS went out and spent plenty of assets on an already good OF and ignored the glaring SP and 2B needs.
  12. I'm looking to get a 2-in-1 laptop, and was wondering if anyone had suggestions? I'm mostly looking at using it for browsing the web while chilling on the couch at home, downloading shows and movies on it to watch on a plane/while traveling, or watching the Brewers/mlb.tv while at home, and keeping excel and word docs as well as storing some pictures and videos. Thanks for any recommendations!
  13. I like how he's available via social media, but he has not represented himself well lately. I think a couple weeks back he lashed out at someone about bringing up the topic of what coaches they will be interviewing in the offseason, saying they had no list and that Prunty is the head coach, not interim head coach. The list he sent out is garbage. I'm thankful they kept the Bucks in Milwaukee, but they have a long ways to go to show any improvement of being actual good owners.
  14. They can do a sign-and-trade with Jabari, or they can let him walk and spend about $8m per year on a mid-level exception player. Jabari has never really been a fit next to Giannis and Khris and is mediocre to awful at everything except scoring, which they don't really need. He's never really played winning basketball, going all the way back to Duke when Coach K had to bench him in the tournament. His advanced stats are terrible and no matter how impressive some of his scoring highlights are, the team just hasn't consistently played better when he's on court. He's always had a negative adjusted plus-minus, and the team has gotten a big boost both times he got hurt (first replacing him with Dudley, then with Khris coming back). Complementary glue guys like Brogdon and Brown are better fits with Giannis and Khris, and they can provide enough scoring. Even if Jabari had reached his potential, they would have been better off trading him for a really good center or pg, or at least a high draft pick so they could take their chances on getting one there. It's really too bad they waited this long to realize what should have been obvious, because they probably could have traded Jabari and some bad contracts for expiring contracts and a high lotto pick if they had the foresight to do so. The moral here is that even for efficient 20+ ppg scorers, there's an awful lot of basketball to be played between those buckets, just like there's an awful lot of baseball to be played in the intervales between the 40+ hr's a guy like Chris Carter is capable of hitting. Usually the best scorers are at least respectable in a lot of the other skills you need to win, but every once in a while you find a top-flight scorer who's just not a good basketball player at all, and that's Jabari. I have nothing to add, other than I completely agree with everything you said.
  15. Apologies if this has been discussed in further depth, but I hadn't seen a real list scrolling back a few pages. What's the 25 man looking like, looks like Choi might make it, at the cost of trading someone I would assume? I can't believe he makes the team if there isn't a trade made, or am I way off? 1. Pina 2. Bandy 3. Braun 4. Villar 5. Arcia 6. Shaw 7. Yelich 8. Cain 9. Santana 10. Thames 11. Aguilar 12. Sogard 13. Perez 14. Anderson 15. Chacin 16. Davies 17. Woodruff 18. Suter 19. Lopez? 20. Albers 21. Drake 22. Jeffress 23. Barnes 24. Hader 25. Knebel
  16. Watched most of the second half last night vs. the Clippers. Don't get to watch much with being outside of the Milwaukee area, so only get the TNT/ESPN games, just a few observations: Jabari has some of the worst body language ever, it is pretty clear him and Giannis have zero chemistry, looked like 2 little 9 year olds playing and complaining to their parents (coaches) that the other wasn't playing fair together. Sterling Brown and Zeller look to be about two of the only guys to play with consistent hustle, not sure what the coaches see in Henson that gets him more playing time than Zeller. Doesn't seem the team has many/(any?) shooters, which is not a good formula in today's NBA. That sure seemed like a lot of minutes for a 40 y/o Jason Terry. Just ugly how they blew it in the 4th quarter after playing with a lot of intensity in the 3rd to get a lead heading into the 4th quarter.
  17. I think the big thing here is, are they going to use him as a bench player (they've told him he made the 25 man roster), or if he's going to be starting full time at 2B. If he's starting at 2B, I wonder what the price of Hernandez would be. Would still really like him to be a Brewer.
  18. 2018 Brewers Season Predictions Win-Loss Record: 82-80 Playoffs: No Highest Playoff Level Achieved: None All Star Game Representative(s): Christian Yelich Offensive Player of the Year: Travis Shaw Pitcher of the Year: Chase Anderson Most Surprising Player: Brandon Woodruff, Taylor Williams Most Disappointing Player: Corey Knebel, Zach Davies
  19. sure glad Stearns dealt the high end of the prospect pool to help an already above average part of the big league club and didn't bother helping out the weakest part of the team. awesome.
  20. It's sad to me that you feel the need to make these sort of comments towards people who have a different line of thinking than yourself. Nationals: -Tanner Roark made 30 starts for the Nationals and posted a mid 4 era with a 1.3+ WHIP. -Joe Ross and Edwin Jackson combined for 26 starts for the Nationals over a 5 ERA and a 1.4+ WHIP. Twins: -Kyle Gibson made 29 starts for the Twins with an ERA above 5 and a 1.5+ WHIP. -Bartolo Colon and Hector Santiago made a combined 29 starts for the Twins to post a mid 5 ERA and a 1.4+ WHIP. Yankees: -Marishiro Tanaka made 30 starts and posted a high 4 ERA which a WHIP above 1.3 -They also had a collection of other pitchers, including Jamie Garcia, who was just flat out not good. Cubs: -Lester and Lackey a season ago were not great. High 4 ERA's and WHIPS around 1.3. They were considered their #1 and #3 pitchers going into the season. Wade Miley(31) and Gallardo(32) were not good the past two seasons but they have shown throughout their careers to be good pitchers. If Johnson feels as though there is a correction to be had with them and he can get them more towards their career stat lines, they will do just fine for us. Another reason it would be great for these guys to do well is that it shoves our depth of pitchers down a peg. It allows us to bring up quality guys if/when injuries do happen. Another poster stated that the Astros go in knowing they will use 9-10 starters during the season. Hopefully, that is something Stearns brought over with him because we will need it most likely. 1. Anderson 2. Davies 3. Chacin 4. Guerra 5. Miley and then a mix of Woodruff, Gallardo, Suter, Burnes, Nelson(when healthy), Wilkerson all ready to go if/when injury strikes to our rotation or some guy just flat out stinks. It's a solid list of 10-11 pitchers ready to go. And we haven't even got to roster cutdown day yet where there may be an arm or two out there for the pickings. The difference is the Nationals have Strasburg and Scherzer, the Yankees have Severino and a ridiculously loaded bullpen, the Cubs had Arrieta, Quintana, and Hendricks. The Brewers don't have those types of aces or that stacked of a bullpen to get away with such a bad #5 starter and hopes that '18 Jimmy post-injury looks like '17 Jimmy.
  21. Why does Stone taking checks from an agency, that wanted to sign him to become a client of theirs once he went pro, have anything to do with him deciding Maryland over Wisconsin?
  22. I would like to say one of the most valuable parts of the team last year was 1B with the very low salary and production received out of the position. As it stands now, we have a trio of guys for 1B (Braun, Thames, Aguilar) which I'm guessing Aguilar doesn't stick on the team and we'll get little to no value out of moving him. I can't picture either Braun nor Thames all that happy platooning 1B, even if Braun gets starts in the OF to open up more starts combined between the two of them. Leaves me to the point that if Santana is now dealt, what do you do in the OF? Put a weak armed Yelich in RF? so then we made these offseason moves to compile a below-average defensive OF? We already had that last year. I really really like Yelich. Was a big fan of his with the Marlins, watching that OF trio and agree he's already got a special bat, I just don't think he really fits on this team unless you make another two to three moves. He's a perfect LF, but when we still have Braun under contract for 3 more seasons, what's the point, unless you know he can transition to 1B, where, we already had a very productive unit of Thames and Aguilar. So, in my opinion, unless you got something of value for that duo, and felt comfortable with Braun moving there, then why double up on a position? Moving either Braun or Yelich to RF doesn't seem smart either, but we've still got Santana there as well. Just my rambling opinions, I'm glad Yelich is on the team, just don't understand the direction this team is going. Just too many questions still out there, what's going to happen with 2B, is someone going to step up and take control of the 5th SP spot, where are all of these bats going to play.
  23. Would Brinson, Harrison, Diaz, and Yamamoto be enough for Archer? I feel like if we'd swap Archer for Yelich on this team as it currently stands, I'd feel much much better heading into the season. I'm keeping an open mind on this until the off-season is finished, but I feel like Stearns might have put the roster flexibility in a bind here. I'd much rather the Brewers hold onto the prospects they do have at this point, and sign one of the three SP FA's remaining. Personal preference in terms of age, wear and tear on arm, and likely salary would be Lynn, Cobb, Arrieta but would honestly be happy with any of the three.
