  1. making note of recent transactions . . . jake petricka signed to a one year deal. it's been reported that he has one minor league option remaining, but i count two, as he spent less than 20 days optioned in 2014. yasmani grandal signed to a one year deal with a mutual option for 2020. it appears that he has one minor league option remaining, but he has enough service time to refuse the optional assignment. with these moves, the 40-man roster is full.
  2. zach davies and travis shaw have also settled on one year deals.
  3. smith enters 2019 spring training with three minor league options. he has been outrighted to the minor leagues once before. the brewers have five non-roster invitees for 2019.
  4. i count two remaining. he was optioned in 2018 and in 2014, but in 2014, he spent less than 20 days optioned and therefore, did not burn it. petricka was outrighted to the minor leagues this offseason, so if the brewers wish to remove him from the 40-man and keep him in the organization, petricka has the right to refuse the minor league assignment (voiding his contract) and declare free agency.
  5. friday is the deadline for players and teams to exchange salary figures. alex claudio, zach davies, junior guerra, corey knebel, manny pina and travis shaw are the remaining arbitration-eligible players, as domingo santana was traded.
  6. making note of transactions in recent weeks discussed in individual threads . . . corey spangenberg deal official. one minor league option remaining. domingo santana traded for ben gamel (one minor league option remaining) and minor leaguer noah zavolas. keon broxton traded for bobby wahl (two minor league options remaining) and minor leaguers adam hill and felix valerio. wahl has been outrighted to the minor leagues once before, so if the brewers decide to remove him from the 40-man roster and keep him in their organization, he has the right to refuse the minor league assignment (voiding his contract) and become a free agent. the roster is at 38.
  7. reports of cory spangenberg signing with the brewers. he has one minor league option remaining. when made official, the roster will be at 38.
  8. just for record keeping in this thread, it should be noted that erik kratz avoided arbitration prior to the non-tender deadline. like other arbitration-eligible players, the contract is not fully guaranteed until the season starts. it should also be noted that newly acquired alex claudio is in his first year of arbitration eligibility. the brewers have yet to agree on a contract with him.
  9. i can't figure out why david stearns reported that claudio has two minor league options remaining. he spent more than 20 days optioned in both 2015 and 2016, and has not missed a season due to injury since being added to the 40-man roster, which could prompt a fourth option year. claudio also has not burned all three options in five or fewer professional seasons, which would also be grounds for his club to petition for a fourth option year.
  10. alex claudio acquired from texas for a competitive balance round a pick in the 2019 rule 4 draft. it appears that claudio has one minor league option remaining. the roster is at 37.
  11. it appears that claudio has one minor league option remaining.
  12. it was misunderstood. i understood it as merging it into the minor league thread, as the majority of the content i saw in that merged thread had the topic title from the minor league thread, which led me to interpret that it was still in the minor league forum. appreciate the unlock and merge. now i gotta give jake hager some cred in the major league forum.
  13. victor santos pitched for the brewers 2004 - 2005. in 2005, he became a free agent and signed a minor league deal with the royals. the pirates then took him the rule 5 draft, and he made their 25-man roster.
  14. the brewers have signed deolis guerra to a minor league deal and invited him to spring training. guerra is out of minor league options and has been outrighted to the minor leagues before. if the brewers add him to the 25-man roster and wish to outright him back to the minors, he has the right to refuse the minor league assignment (voiding his contract) and become a free agent. the brewers have three non-roster invitees in 2019 camp.
  15. such as an opt-out date? increased playing time in spring camp because of an injury to another player? he's tearing the cover off the ball or is throwing nothing but strikes in camp? if perdomo is lights out in camp, shouldn't discussion on the merits of adding him be discussed in a thread devoted to him in the major league forum?
  16. the brewers have signed catcher tuffy gosewisch to a minor league deal and invited him to major league spring training. if gosewisch is added to the club's 40-man roster, he will have one minor league option remaining. the brewers currently have two non-roster invitees for 2019 camp.
  17. i'm trying to remember when the brewers had so many players in a single off-season non-tendered. three seems quite high. granted, the number of arbitration-eligible players is quite high this off-season. with the removal of xavier cedeno, dan jennings and jonathan schoop, the roster is at 36.
  18. these moves have just been officially confirmed by the club. both players will enter 2019 spring training with three minor league options. the roster is at 39.
  19. tonight is the deadline to protect players from the rule 5 draft by adding them to the 40-man roster. the club currently has three open spots. unconfirmed reports of two prospects already added, so it may be only one open spot.
  20. manager of the year announced tonight at 5:00 central.
  21. i disagree with the locking of this thread. if a player spends time in major league camp as a non-roster invitee, why shouldn't he be discussed in the major league forum?
  22. the brewers signed minor league free agent angel perdomo to a minor league deal and invited him to spring training as a non-roster player. if perdomo is added to the 40-man roster, he will have three minor league options.
  23. dylan moore gets a major league contract (40-man spot) with seattle.
  24. gold glove winners announced tonight at 8:00 central on espn.
