  1. ben hendrickson lives in excelsior, which is an affluent outlying suburb of minneapolis. according to zillow, the median price of a home in excelsior is $566,500. we don't know if he owns or rents, but he's definitely residing in a high-income zip code.
  2. the giants have designated kratz for assignment.
  3. aaron wilkerson has been activated from the 10-day injured list after making one rehab appearance with class aaa san antonio, and has been optioned there.
  4. jay jackson spent only two days optioned to the minor leagues before being designated for assignment (which immediately removed him from the 40-man roster). if he spends another 18 days in the minor leagues while on the 40-man roster, he will burn his first option.
  5. i know that the missions have had to deal with having a shortage of healthy primary outfielders and the lack of a genuine first baseman, but should we be concerned that 40-man roster players like corey spangenberg and tyler saladino (primarily infielders) are getting so much time in the outfield and/or first base and jacob nottingham (our most hopeful catching prospect) is getting so much time at first base?
  6. i was at yesterday's game. he was throwing quite wildly. the pitching mound was super saturated though, as it had been steadily raining from the start of the game until he came in to pitch (plus the deluge from friday night).
  7. and that is correct on both jay jackson and burch smith. the club has seven days to trade, release or try to outright jackson to the minor leagues. if jackson refuses the assignment, he voids his contract in becoming a free agent. if the club wishes to outright smith to the minor leagues instead of optioning him, he faces the same situation as jackson, as he has been outrighted to the minor leagues before. the 40-man roster remains at capacity.
  8. both jake petricka and alex wilson have been outrighted to class aaa san antonio. presumably, both have accepted the minor league assignments.
  9. jake petricka has been outrighted to class aaa san antonio. presumably, he has accepted the minor league assignment.
  10. alex wilson has been outrighted to class aaa san antonio. presumably, he has accepted the minor league assignment.
  11. josh fields opted out of his contract. he is now a free agent.
  12. not a bad idea, but barring an injury to another player, hart is most likely the guy to be sent down when peralta returns.
  13. jay jackson becomes the first 2019 non-roster invitee to crack the active 25-man roster. not bad for a guy who signed just eight days before the club's first spring training game. and, as mentioned above, jackson has all three minor league options intact.
  14. a player doesn't have to meet the minimum stay of 10 days optioned if replacing a player put on the injured list, and the brewers are taking advantage of that. hart hasn't pitched since 21 april, and was optioned 22 april. taylor williams could be recalled at any point (but we pitched yesterday), but donnie hart couldn't be recalled until meeting that 10-day stay.
  15. alex wilson has been designated for assignment. the brewers have seven days to trade, release or outright wilson to the minors. jay jackson has his contract selected. he has three minor league options remaining. the roster remains at capacity.
  16. fields' first opt-out date is tuesday. the club certainly has been giving him opportunities to prove his worth--he's tied for the club lead with eight appearances. however, his 8.22 era with san antonio and a full 40-man roster (along with other relievers on minor league deals performing better than him) are not helping his chances of having his contract selected.
  17. the brewers spent four days (three games) with a 12-man pitching staff. back to 13.
  18. gio gonzalez deal is official. jake petricka designated for assignment to make room for him on the 40-man roster. the brewers have seven days to trade, release or outright petricka to the minors. petricka reserves the right to refuse the minor league assignment (voiding his contract) and become a free agent. the 40-man remains at capacity.
  19. raise your hand if you thought aaron wilkerson would last this long on the 25-man roster.
  20. i hope his signing comes at the expense of outrighting a catcher, and not a pitcher . . .
  21. for the first time in 2019, the brewers have a 12-man pitching staff.
  22. the yankees have released gonzalez. he's a free agent.
