  1. michael brady was assigned to minor league camp yesterday.
  2. ernesto frieri was released yesterday. down to nine non-roster invitees still in camp.
  3. frieri released today.
  4. of note: opt-out for choi before the end of spring training (i couldn't find the exact date), and also an opt-out date of 15 june if he plays for colorado springs and isn't on the major league roster by then.
  5. aaron wilkerson optioned. assuming he spends at least 20 days during the major league season optioned to the minor leagues, he will burn his first option.
  6. wondering why an extra option kicked in for junior guerra?
  7. if gallardo cracks the 25-man roster, it appears it will be so as a reliever.
  8. if gallardo makes the club, it will be as a reliever.
  9. assuming all spend at least 20 days during the major league season optioned to the minor leagues, each of these players will burn their 2018 option. for adrian houser and jorge lopez, it's their final option. houser, because of his injury, could be a candidate to have a fourth option year added. tyler webb will likely burn his second option. the rest will all likely be burning their first option. any player optioned to the minor leagues must stay optioned for at least 10 days before being eligible for a recall, unless replacing another player placed on the disabled, paternity or bereavement list.
  10. erik davis was reassigned to minor league camp today.
  11. these players were reassigned to minor league camp: rhp corbin burnes, rhp erik davis, rhp luis ortiz and rhp jon perrin. down to 12 non-roster invitees in major league camp.
  12. we've now learned that junior guerra has a fourth minor league option, and thus, one remaining.
  13. junior guerra was granted a fourth option year. thus, he has one option remaining.
  14. franklin was claimed after the brewers' season had started last year. his tenure with the club was nearly three months.
  15. up to 16 non-roster invitees. christian bethancourt © michael brady (rhp) corbin burnes (rhp) ji-man choi (1b/of) erik davis (rhp) nick franklin (ut) ernesto frieri (rhp) keston hiura (2b) j.j. hoover (rhp) dustin houle © radhames liz (rhp) wade miley (lhp) nate orf (ut) luis ortiz (rhp) jon perrin (rhp) kyle wren (of)
  16. technically, not true. a player who remains on a club's 40-man roster and who has a minor league option cannot be claimed if sent to the minor leagues. but, if a club wishes to try to outright a player off the 40-man roster and to the minor leagues (regardless of his number of remaining options), another team can claim him and put him on their own 40-man roster (and then either option him, or place him on the active 25-man roster). it's usually easier for clubs to claim a player with at least one minor league option remaining, because they have flexibility in stashing him on the reserve (optioned) list, or on the 25-man roster.
  17. catcher dustin houle is a non-roster invitee. that makes 15.
  18. nick franklin becomes the 14th non-roster invitee.
  19. wade miley becomes the 13th non-roster invitee.
  20. 28 august opt-out. that's late. dontrelle willis and alfredo figaro are glad that this thread was moved to the minor league forum.
  21. reselling these tix to cubs fans may give brewers fans more money to spend on multiple home games against other teams.
  22. if they have room on their 40-man roster, he has one minor league option remaining. nice way to have catching depth.
  23. the signing of free agent matt albers is official. to make room on the 40-man, andrew susac was designated for assignment. if he goes unclaimed, the brewers can outright him to the minor leagues. if susac is claimed by another team, he has one minor league option remaining. the 40-man roster is still at capacity.
  24. catcher andrew susac has been designated for assignment. the brewers have seven days to release, trade or outright him to the minors. if another team claims him, susac has one minor league option remaining. the brewers still have four catchers on their 40-man roster, and only one who can be optioned.
  25. it appears that this is a major league deal. someone will have to be removed from the 40-man roster when the deal is made official.
