  1. zach davies isn't quite ready to be activated yet. brandon woodruff will be recalled to pitch tomorrow in colorado. woodruff will be on five days' rest, after pitching 2.2 innings for colorado springs on saturday.
  2. granted, the season is still young, but it should be noted that if guerra spends the rest of the season on the 25-man roster or the major league disabled list, he will not burn his final option.
  3. bork is correct. barrios was in major league camp and the injury occurred before being optioned. thus, barrios was essentially on the major league roster at the time of his injury. when the injury occurs while optioned, the player can do on the minor league 7-day disabled list, and remain there indefinitely if need be.
  4. i can't ever recall the brewers recalling an injured player (not to report) and putting him on the 60-day disabled list. johnny hellweg was a candidate a few years back, but the brewers never took advantage of such.
  5. the sky sox are in nashville. no direct flights to milwaukee. there's a southwest plane in air right now en route to chicago midway.
  6. anthony swarzak was transferred to the 60-day disabled list today by the mets.
  7. likely that corey knebel will be activated before tomorrow's game.
  8. eric sogard optioned. he had enough service time to refuse the minor league assignment, but doing so would've voided his contract. if sogard spends more than 20 days optioned to colorado springs, he will burn his final option. nick franklin has his contract selected. franklin is out of options, and has been outrighted before. if the brewers wish to send him back to the minor leagues, he will have to clear waivers and choose to accept the minor league assignment. franklin has the right to refuse the minor league assignment. to make room on the 40-man roster for franklin, stephen vogt was transferred to the 60-day disabled list.
  9. He also gunned down a steal attempt, a very positive sign for him. vogt wasn't involved in that caught stealing on wednesday. it was a pickoff move made by the pitcher in the top of the second inning. last night, vogt had a throwing error in the 5th against isan diaz trying to steal second. diaz made it to third on the error, but was later tagged out at home by vogt on a fielder's choice. vogt also singled in four at-bats.
  10. brandon woodruff would meet the 10-day minimum stay by 12 may. the only other way he could be recalled prior to that would be to coincide with a disabled list move (such as the davies transaction made today). the increase in the number of off-days is really boosting the club's roster flexibility.
  11. of note: well beyond 20 days have passed since keon broxton was optioned. broxton has burned his final option. he still can be recalled and optioned back and forth in 2018, but he must stay optioned for at least 10 days unless replacing an injured player.
  12. well beyond 20 days have passed. choi has burned his final option. he still can be recalled and optioned back and forth in 2018, but he must stay optioned for at least 10 days unless replacing an injured player.
  13. boone logan has logged three appearances for biloxi. in his second appearance, he did not retire a batter. last night, he threw a scoreless inning with two strikeouts. logan has yet to make back-to-back appearances.
  14. vogt caught five innings for biloxi yesterday and homered in two at-bats.
  15. intrigued by having paolo espino back in the organization?
  16. drake has never been outrighted to the minors before, so if he clears waivers, he'd be forced to accept the minor league assignment and would stay in the organization. Drake was outrighted by the Orioles in November 2012. He has the ability to refuse assignment and elect free agency if he wishes. you're right. i didn't scroll down enough prior to the last time the orioles selected his contract (when he still had two minor league options). i had assumed that it was the first time they had selected his contract, but clearly, it wasn't.
  17. if they catch lightening in a bottle and market it, mark attanasio will become a trillionaire and will be able to buy any player on the market.
  18. as corey knebel and boone logan work through their minor league rehab assignments, let's look at the roster moves that could be in play in the coming weeks. the brewers currently have a seven-man bullpen, but have worked with an eight-man bullpen for most of the season. relievers on the 40-man and number of remaining options: matt albers (0) jacob barnes (2) josh hader (2) adrian houser (1; has already met 10-day minimum stay and could be recalled at any point) dan jennings (0) jeremy jeffress (0) disabled list--corey knebel (1) disabled list--boone logan (0) jorge lopez (1; has already met 10-day minimum stay and could be recalled at any point) brent suter (2) taylor williams (2) brandon woodruff (2; will burn his second option in a matter of days unless recalled to replace an injured player) one would think that brett phillips, brent suter and taylor williams are candidates to be optioned when corey knebel and boone logan are activated.
  19. drake has never been outrighted to the minors before, so if he clears waivers, he'd be forced to accept the minor league assignment and would stay in the organization. he could be 2017 rob scahill. a 40-man spot will likely open when stephen vogt is activated, but then will be needed when jimmy nelson returns.
  20. oliver drake designated for assignment. the brewers have seven days to trade, release or outright drake to the minor leagues. drake has been outrighted before, so if he clears waivers, he can refuse the minor league assignment, void his contract and become a free agent. wade miley has his contract selected. the 40-man roster remains at capacity.
  21. jett bandy won't be losing his spot to wade miley. vogt's minor league rehab assignment doesn't start until wednesday 2 may.
  22. the brewers could opt to start bandy for of the the next two games to give manny pina rest, and then count on pina to play wednesday before thursday's day off. that would allow vogt to ease back into things by friday, but be on the 25-man wednesday for pinch hitting.
  23. i'm not sure if vogt starts his minor league rehab assignment today. one has to wonder if the brewers plan to rehab him for only two games, and then activate him wednesday. the brewers would most certainly dfa jett bandy at that point, which would conveniently open up a spot for wade miley on the 40-man.
  24. drake is out of options. he'd have to be removed from the 40-man roster and clear waivers and accept an outright assignment to the minor leagues to remain in the brewers' organization.
  25. knebel could be heading on a rehab assignment soon and could very likely return mid-may.
