  1. seems that corey knebel would not be a candidate for the 60-day disabled list . . .
  2. decision has to be made by end of tomorrow, which is unfortunate, because if they plan on putting him into the rotation, he wouldn't be on four days' rest until wednesday's game. hopefully, the brewers will be able to wait until wednesday to officially add him to the 40-man roster.
  3. because choi opened the season on the 40-man and 25-man roster, his opt-out clauses have been voided. the brewers can keep choi optioned all of 2018 if they so desire.
  4. one more start friday, and then wade miley can choose to opt out and become a free agent if the brewers don't select his contract and add him to the 25-man roster.
  5. there's a really cool tracker introduced this year on mlb.com that shows updated stats of a team's top 30. i lost the link. anyone know what i'm talking about?
  6. rehab assignment with biloxi forthcoming.
  7. vogt heads to arizona tomorrow. minor league rehab assignment looming.
  8. logan threw a simulated game today. a rehab assignment could be next.
  9. manny pina reinstated from the disabled list. nottingham optioned back to colorado springs.
  10. advantage to keeping guerra on the roster for the rest of the season: he does not burn his final option. if they option him just once, he'll have to stay down a minimum of 10 days, which would push him over 20.
  11. there's a great thread on here where someone really went way back charting player moves. like graeme lloyd and pat listach for bob wickman and bob wickman for richie sexson and richie sexson for lyle overbay and lyle overbay for jorge de la rosa and jorge de la rosa for tony graffanino. the search function on here is pretty limited, so i can't find it.
  12. and there's a pretty extensive thread here also focusing on corbin burnes, and other prospects as well. and a thread already in the minor league forum.
  13. Obviously not great, but I think it's important to remember these are just tune-ups and he is probably (obviously) not game ready. Now, do I want to see him start over, say, Woodruff? No, but if he takes a start from Suter, well, it probably isn't the worst thing in the world. with so many players on the disabled list (including aaron wilkerson on the minor league dl), i'm more concerned about miley taking away a 40-man spot from someone else, because we need healthy minor league depth on the 40-man. i've mentioned before . . . i'm hoping that the brewers are holding out on stephen vogt and manny pina both being activated by the time miley is called to the rotation. jett bandy out, leaving three catchers on the 40-man, and miley taking that spot. otherwise, the club gambles in transferring corey knebel to the 60-day disabled list. i'd like for the brewers to preserve all other players currently on the 40-man (could make an exception for oliver drake, though).
  14. 63 pitches for wade miley yesterday; certainly not a pretty outing . . . three innings, six hits, three homers, one strikeout. he'll get at least one more start, targeting 90 pitches.
  15. if saladino spends more than 20 days optioned, he will burn his second option. mvp2110, how do you feel now?
  16. the brewers have talked about having flexibility in the back end of their bullpen. when you look at it, there isn't as much flexibility as one would think (assuming that no players are dfa'd). when a player is optioned, he has to spend at least 10 days optioned, unless replacing a player placed on the disabled/paternity/bereavement/restricted list. thus, someone like adrian houser, who was optioned 9 april, has been off limits for an overworked bullpen (unless a player had been placed on the disabled or similar list). management and fans will also have to take note of this when boone logan is ready to come off the disabled list, and again for corey knebel. relievers on the 40-man and number of remaining options: alec asher (1; has already met 10-day minimum stay with los angeles and can be recalled at any point) jacob barnes (2) oliver drake (0) josh hader (2) adrian houser (1; eligible to be recalled starting tomorrow) dan jennings (0) jeremy jeffress (0) corey knebel (1) boone logan (unclear on remaining options, but if he does have an option, he can refuse the minor league assignment, void his contract and become a free agent) jorge lopez (1; optioned 17 april; must stay down 10 days unless replacing an injured player) taylor williams (2)
  17. vogt is up to throwing 90 feet, but i haven't seen any reports of him throwing 120 feet, which is his next baseline target.
  18. yesterday, boone logan threw off a mound for the first time since his triceps injury.
  19. wade miley threw 37 pitches yesterday for class aa biloxi. the brewers plan to have him start again sunday and get up to 55-60 pitches. working against wade miley's chances in joining the rotation soon: junior guerra pitching well and brandon woodruff pitching well for colorado springs, plus a full 40-man roster. working for wade miley's chances in joining the rotation soon: taking his spring training into consideration, an optionable brent suter if he continues to struggle, and an opening on the 40-man if stephen vogt and/or manny pina can return soon, likely leading to jett bandy's removal from the 40-man roster. one has to wonder if the brewers are hoping that vogt's activation can happen at the same time that miley is stretched out for a big league rotation.
  20. alec asher has yet to burn his 2018 option, but will do so in a matter of days. if he does, he will enter 2019 with no options remaining. he has not been outrighted to the minor leagues yet in his career.
  21. i brought this up last week. the brewers are also at a disadvantage in pitching brandon woodruff and freddy peralta back-to-back in the colorado springs rotation. they should be spread apart, so either could be closer to his bullpen day in between starts and be able to cover the brewers in a pinch if needed. the open 40-man spot is advantageous to the club, and they likely know that another spot will open up when all of their catchers are healthy.
  22. I think Bethancourt is out of options, so they wouldn't want to bring him up for a short term gig, and then risk losing him. He's a talent, but needs playing time, after the Braves and Padres botched his development so badly. bethancourt is out of options.
  23. since instituting the 10-day disabled list, i believe the farthest they can backdate is three days, four tops.
  24. j.j. hoover has been outrighted to colorado springs.
  25. yes. and if he were to clear waivers, because this would be the first time that a club would wishing to outright him off the 40-man roster to the minor leagues, he would be forced to accept the minor league assignment and remain property of the brewers. tyler webb does not clear waivers, as san diego claimed him today. if they wish, they can option him to the minor leagues in his second option year.
