  1. in 2015 and in 2017, all he could get were minor league contracts with invitations to big league camp. this appears to be a major league contract.
  2. at the 2012 non-waiver trade deadline, matt albers and scott podsednik were traded from boston to arizona for craig breslow.
  3. even by being optimistic with june, this still allows the brewers to place nelson on the 60-day disabled list to start the season if a roster spot is needed. nelson would be allowed to make minor league rehab appearances while on the 60-day disabled list.
  4. josh hader has been confirmed to start the 2018 season as part of the bullpen. how do you project the brewers' starting rotation to shake out?
  5. josh hader indeed starts the season as part of the bullpen. how does that affect the bullpen roster, and does it prompt the brewers to stick with a seven-man bullpen?
  6. the idea of ryan braun playing first base has been tossed around for years. but second base?
  7. keon broxton entered the 2017 season with one minor league option remaining. he was optioned in 2017 to colorado springs, but his stay there was brief (only ten days), which preserved his remaining minor league option for 2018.
  8. not surprisingly, no one had lewis brinson on their list. also not surprisingly, a few had wei-chung wang on their list.
  9. my stab at it: c: manny pina and stephen vogt (andrew susac is dfa'd, claimed and optioned; jett bandy is dfa'd and outrighted to the minors) 1b: eric thames 2b: jonathan villar ss: orlando arcia 3b: travis shaw of: sees a rotation of ryan braun, christian yellich, lorenzo cain and brett phillips (keon broxton is optioned but recalled if braun gets injured; domingo santana is traded) position player group: hernan perez, jesus aguilar, eric sogard rotation: chase anderson, jhoulys chacin, zach davies, yovani gallardo, brent suter (suter is optioned or takes guerra's spot in the bullpen if santana nets a starting pitcher) bullpen: jacob barnes, oliver drake, junior guerra, josh hader, jeremy jeffress, corey knebel, boone logan 10-day disabled list (mind you that two catchers have been cut from the 40-man already, so no need to utilize the 60-day dl): jimmy nelson
  10. now official, wei-chung wang is released from the brewers to sign with a south korean team. lorenzo cain takes his spot on the 40-man roster. the 40-man roster is still at capacity.
  11. wang's release is official to allow him to sign with a south korean team. lorenzo cain takes his spot on the 40-man.
  12. i think yesterday's moves bode well for kyle wren in 2018. assuming santana is traded, and brett phillips is given right field, the brewers may not want to carry two backup outfielders with low obp and/or high strikeout rates, and that's what you get with hernan perez and keon broxton.
  13. i hope yelich hits a walkoff grand slam on faith night so they can call it christian faith night.
  14. still calling to trade keon broxton and/or domingo santana?
  15. christian yelich takes lewis brinson's spot on the 40-man roster. yelich has three minor league options remaining, having never been optioned since having his contract selected by the marlins in 2013. the 40-man remains full.
  16. as referenced in this thread, the brewers clearly had no intention of trying to preserve wang's second minor league option. they likely had already decided that he wouldn't be part of their 2018 plans.
  17. michael brady was the first non-roster invitee, i believe.
  18. brewers.com doesn't have a list up . . . am i missing anyone here? if not, the number of non-roster invitees is only 12, which is low. christian bethancourt michael brady corbin burnes ji-man choi erik davis ernesto frieri keston huira j.j. hoover nate orf luis ortiz jon perrin kyle wren
  19. i'd appreciate seeing an update on this . . . thank you!
  20. taking a look at 2018 bullpen candidates on the 40-man roster with number of remaining minor league options . . . jacob barnes (2) oliver drake (0) yovani gallardo (3, but can refuse optional assignment, voiding his contract, and become a free agent) junior guerra (0) josh hader (2) adrian houser (1) jeremy jeffress (0) corey knebel (1) boone logan (unclear on remaining options, but if he does have an option, he can refuse like gallardo can) jorge lopez (1) brent suter (2) wei-chung wang (1) tyler webb (2) taylor williams (2)
  21. j.j. hoover burned his final option in 2017. he has been outrighted to the minor leagues before, so if he's added to the 25-man roster, he has the right to become a free agent (voiding his contract) if the brewers later decide to outright him back to the minor leagues.
  22. i had taylor jungmann on my list . . . anyone else?
  23. boone logan deal is official. taylor jungmann was released to pursue a pitching opportunity in japan. the 40-man roster remains full.
  24. this move is actually good by drake.
  25. Why do they have to move anyone off the 40 man? it has been reported that boone logan has signed a major league contract with the brewers. the 40-man is currently full.
