  1. glad to see that hunter morris gets back to playing action tonight on a rehab assignment.
  2. two scoreless appearances for wang at rookie arizona league. he's now moving on to class a wisconsin.
  3. kintzler has two minor league options remaining. he has less than five years of major league service time, so he cannot refuse the optional assignment. the brewers optioned him in both 2011 and 2012, but because he spent less than 20 days optioned in 2011, his option year was not burned.
  4. advantage with fiers is it gives him an additional mlb audition. he's a likely trade candidate with zero minor league options remaining come 2015.
  5. have you checked fiers' minor league stats lately? granted, he hasn't pitched deep into a game lately, but i'd hardly call his last two starts awful.
  6. ugh. i would've rather seen irving falu up (assuming that gennett and segura are still both less than 100%) and fiers recalled saturday.
  7. if they intend to recall fiers and put garza on the disabled list, i hope the brewers recall irving falu until fiers is needed to pitch on 9 august. with both scooter gennett and jean segura hurting, the brewers could use another infielder/pinch runner for the coming days.
  8. only 17 walks in 102+ innings. if garza goes on the disabled list, fiers would be on normal rest to take his spot.
  9. gord ash indicated today that wang will be stretched out as a starter to maximize his innings.
  10. wang's minor league rehab assignment starts today in rookie-level arizona. his assignment can last up to 30 days, meaning the brewers can keep him in the minors and not have to recall him until september, when the rosters expand to 40. he no longer needs to "waste" a 25-man roster spot.
  11. now there's a conflicting report. evidently, thornburg still hasn't been throwing off a mound.
  12. the brewers can still trade for a bullpen arm--the player just has to clear waivers first.
  13. henderson needs to be activated or activated and optioned in just a couple days.
  14. as the 2014 season progressed, it looked like gindl might be getting more playing time with the big club--especially with injuries to braun and gomez, and the fact that the brewers were playing with a glut of infielders and short a true outfielder. gindl has no options remaining come 2015. gerardo parra is under club control through 2015. if the brewers had wanted to platoon khris davis, you think they would've given logan schafer more starts in left field. obviously, those opportunities hardly ever came for gindl, and they don't look to be forthcoming this year. i'm wondering if gindl is even on the 40-man roster come 31 august.
  15. thornburg has been on the disabled list for nearly 60 days now, and hasn't started a minor league rehab assignment, so transferring him to the 60-day disabled list to make room for gerardo parra isn't that big of a deal.
  16. to make room for gerardo parra, the brewers transferred tyler thornburg to the 60-day disabled list. the 40-man is full again. when jim henderson returns, they'll need another spot for him.
  17. as of 19 july update, no. just off the mound.
  18. segura has two options remaining.
  19. did henderson start his minor league rehab on 3 july? if so, his rehab assignment (maxing out at 30 days) would mean eligible to return no later than 2 august or be optioned to the minor leagues by that date. i know the brewers wanted him to get some work in yesterday, but the game was postponed due to rain. perhaps we'll see him pitch today? as suggested elsewhere, the brewers could consider transferring tyler thornburg to the 60-day disabled list to make room for henderson's activation from the 60-day disabled list. whether he's brought back to milwaukee or optioned, he has to be added back to the 40-man.
  20. one has to wonder if thornburg will be transferred to the 60-day disabled list to open up a spot for jim henderson, who is set to return soon (assuming the brewers don't option him at the end of his minor league rehab assignment).
  21. ramirez wants to play beyond this season, so it's worth revisiting this thread.
  22. at the expense of whose roster spots? neither are on the 40-man at the moment, so who gets bumped?
  23. with use of words associated with marijuana, i truly thought that the rest of your post was going to be laced with pot references.
  24. last week, the brewers reclaimed irving falu (putting him back on the 40-man roster) and optioned him to aaa-nashville. to make room, the brewers outrighted kevin shackelford to the minor leagues. because this was the first time shackelford was outrighted, he could not refuse the minor league assignment by the brewers. also, as noted today, jeremy jeffress has had his contract purchased by the brewers. rob wooten optioned, and he will have two minor league options at start of 2015 spring training. to make room for jeffress, jim henderson was transfered to the 60-day disabled list.
  25. because wang is overmatched against major league talent, the assumption is that the brewers will take advantage of all of the minor league seasoning that they can get this year. yes, his minor league rehab doesn't have to last 30 days, but i'd be shocked if the brewers made it any shorter.
