godley hasn't been outrighted yet, but an outrighted player can have his contract selected again at any point . . . whereas an optioned player has to stay optioned for at least 10 days. of course, the former requires being added back to the 40-man roster every time, and there's no guarantee that the guy will clear outright waivers each time. it's a matter of convenience when a club needs a fresh arm, and a means to protect depth.

zack godley has been designated for assignment. the club has seven days to trade, release or try to outright him to the minors. if he clears outright waivers, he reserves the right to refuse the assignment and become a free agent. jake cousins has his contract selected. he has all three minor league options intact, and is making his debut on a club's 40-man roster. the 40-man roster remains at capacity.

thank you. i was -reluctantly- accepting of the singular possessive, because it tricked me into believing that the struggle was just with a single brewer. but unfortunately, we've been frustrated with brewers' offense and not brewer's offense.

A healthy Brewers team has Wong, Adames, Urias, Shaw, Robertson, Reyes ahead of Peterson. Dare I say that Hernan should be ahead of him as well. He's literally the 8th best option for 3B, SS and 2B. unfortunately, with travis shaw out, jace peterson is now the second best option for first base.

will daniel robertson get the brock holt treatment and be dfa'd? holt with the brewers: .100 / .222 / .100 robertson with the brewers: .138 / .275 / .276
