  1. I saw a post on Twitter that there are 8 former Twins in the All-Star Game. Wonder if any team has ever had more former players than that.
  2. 1 out with guys on 2nd and 3rd and you don't walk Pena to setup the double play? Fitting way to end that game, UGLY.
  3. Looks like corresponding moves for the Francisco trade and Scooter coming up are Gonzalez outrighted (finally) and Fiers optioned. Personally I'd like to see a hard platoon with Weeks and Scooter, but knowing RRR, Scooter will be riding the pine.
  4. Here is the link to the story by Ken Rosenthal: http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/milwaukee-brewers-want-shortstop-jean-segura-long-term-agent-says-051413 Sounds like nothing is imminent but Brewers made an offer last month.
  5. In totally unexpected news...JACK IS BACK! http://insidetv.ew.com/2013/05/10/24-return-episodes/
  6. Cue the "I'd be drinking too if I was on this years Brewers squad" joke. Seriously though, no excuse for this, get a driver, get a cab, call someone in the bullpen (at least they would be good for something). I understand making stupid decisions when you've had too much to drink (believe me I've had my fair share), but there is no excuse when you go out to not have a plan on how you are getting home that doesn't involve driving drunk. Especially when money is not an issue. All we can hope for is this is a wake up call, as you know this is most likely not the first time he has done this, just the first time he has gotten caught. Every time I feel this team has hit rock bottom something worse happens. Did not think it could get worse than the first half of last year, but they have definitely attempted to prove me wrong.
  7. Dickey looked good in the 1st, getting Cano on a couple good knuckleballs. Games are available online too if you have Time Warner or DirectTV.
  8. First of all love the deal for both sides, Gomez gets financial stability (if he falls off again would not have gotten this type of deal). Gives Brewers one of the best defensive outfielders in the game at close to or below market value. In my opinion from 2nd half last year and spring so far this year, he seems to have turned an offensive corner as well. This also provides great outfield depth/trade bait with Schafer, Gindl, and KhDavis in the wings.
  9. Anyone else getting a little excited by what Gogo is doing this Spring? Hitting over .500, took 4 walks already. Combine this hot start with his maturity/commitment to the team (taking English lessons, skipping WBC to concentrate on upcoming season), I think he is prime for a big year.
  10. With the limited resource that DM had I think he did a pretty good job of "throwing guys against the wall to see who sticks". A small market team cannot afford to give out big contracts to bullpen pitchers (see Riske, David). Using one "game" in early March against some of the best bats in the game as a barometer on how someone is going to pitch the rest of the season is not a good practice. I'm not convinced this bullpen will be great or even good, but I think they'll be much better than last year (which shouldn't be hard).
  11. Looks like they are starting on Monday broadcasting 7 games over the next 3 weeks. I'm with you though that they seem to be missing the boat. It's 2013 and all we get is a webcast or radio for the first two weeks? Here is the link to the broadcast schedule: http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/schedule/broadcast/index.jsp?c_id=mil
  12. It's definitely a scary thought thinking what Hammonds is going to do in the off-season. Lots of important decisions and a terrible track record. Living out of state and only seeing highlights it's hard for me to judge, but it seems like adding Redick has really helped Ellis. As others have noted, there is not a team in the East that I don't give the Bucks a good chance at defeating in a series besides the Heat.
  13. Don't get to a lot of games living away from the state now, but was lucky enough to be there for this. It gets overlooked a little, but without this game the drama that followed a couple days later wouldn't have mattered.
  14. Good to see Peralta come out strong after struggling the last couple of springs.
  15. Anyone else remember Rock doing this much play-by-play last year? Definitely not his forte.
  16. Great energy tonight in Miami, but Ellis was terrible in OT and of course kept shooting.
  17. Did I miss something and the Pirates brought in Ric Flair in relief? Between that and the vuvuzela, this "crowd" is really annoying tonight.
  18. Forbes has the Bucks value at 268 million, which would be a pretty even trade off for ten years of King Felix and cost control on Hultzen. Unfortunately, that 268 million value is in the Milwaukee market. With nearly double the population in the metro area in Seattle that value would increase greatly. So, 400 million is probably a good estimate for the value in Seattle, and no one is paying 40 million a year for one player. http://www.forbes.com/teams/milwaukee-bucks/
  19. For those on Dish Network and DirectTV, they both just launched the new channel beIN Sports that has the rights to all the La Liga, Serie A, and Ligue 1 matches. It's on free preview on Dish for the whole month and then moves to the Top 250. Watched Real Madrid and Barca's games yesterday, not a bad presentation for the first week.
  20. He has come out and actually owned up to do it as well. Very interesting, can't recall anyone else suspended that has admitted use.
  21. Only 11.5 games back in the wild card. [sarcasm]I knew we should have kept Greinke![/sarcasm]
  22. I don't think Kranitz should be feeling very comfortable.
