  1. So if he is walking without a limp I have to believe he can make it back by September right?
  2. I can't imagine how I would feel if the Brewers blow it and somehow the Cards make the playoffs. I would probably feel worse than if the Pack lost to the Bears and they ended up winning the Super Bowl. It really seems like it will come down to the Cards and Brewers this year and there are a ton of head to head match ups coming up. That series in STL next week should be interesting; it would be all sorts of awesome if they go in their and beat them silly. But on the other hand it would be awful if we lose today and STL retakes first place during that series. Think Positive, Think Positive. I wonder if RR could think of something nitpicky to complain about at Busch?
  3. I would really like to know what evidence their is to support that Braun is a jerk. He has been a model citizen for the last couple years. He doesn't really stare down HRs anymore; he doesn't get into verbal alteractions, he says the right thing in interviews; he very rarely goes Yadi on umpires. I guess I don't get it; the guy is obviously cocky but I haver never heard that people in the Brewers organization or any other organization for that matter think that the guy is a jerk. Sure opposing fans hate his guts but I don't recall him ever doing anything to earn the jerk title.
  4. Could anyone possibly post a transcript of the interview if there is one? No audio/video available at work
  5. I really had no idea it was against baseball rules to pitch Pujols inside. Last night wasn't the worst lost of the year but it was one of the most infuriating. Not that we lost the way we did but because the Brewers let senile Tony of the hook. He hit a guy in a tie game with Prince Fielder coming up. I would have been furious if RR did that. It was just dumb and not even necessary. I half hope that Wolf will come out and plunk Pujols and then get a warning so the Cards can't retailate. That is not RR's style but I think if you face Pujols with no one on the 1st I might consider it. I think the Molina situation was a little overblown. He'll be lucky to get 3 games and he will just happen to drop his appeal when they are playing some crappy team like the Astros.
  6. Thats a tough one. After all the choke jobs by both teams in regulation it is only fitting that a blooper won it. Lets get em tomorrow
  7. Estrada against the middle of the Cards order. Not good
  8. Man I want Prince to jack one here and just stare into the 3rd base dugout when rounds 3rd
  9. Doug is totally going to pick up Yuni's option next year. I can feel it
  10. I sure hope we steal a lot of meatball pitch signs again tonight.
  11. Yeah; really the only logical explanation for us winning a lot of home games is stealing signs. I guess our heavy sign stealing equipment doesn't go on the road trips. Most of the posters at least say it is a bunch oc crud; but there always has to be that guy. For a coach to even mention it or why it was even brough up is a bit weird. That 5th inning had everything to do with Carp forgetting how to throw a curveball; not anything the Brewers may have "picked up"
  12. Way to early, maybe if they get 7 games up or something like that I'll start to think about it.
  13. Cal even got a broadcast mention today. Something about having Eldred and Sabathia mentioned in the same segment seems a bit wrong.
  14. I hope Hairston gets some start at 2nd; I know small sample size or whatever but Lopez has been kind of ehhh to me. He atleast shouldn't be hitting 5th. I know it is a shock but considering the circumstances I wouldn't putting McGehee back in that spot. He is hitting the ball a lot harder recently
  15. We may think LaRussa is a good manager but it seems like Cards fans are getting sick of him. They blame home for making Mozeliak trade Rasmus because they couldn't get along. Great win; no matter what we still still be 1.5 games up when the series is done. I am greedy though; lets get another one tommorrow. Morgan might be the singlest greatest transaction in the Melvin era. I hate to think where we would be without that guy. It is pretty easy to see why opposing teams and fans would hate the guy though.
  16. I would prefer to have to play the Braves or Giants over the Phils IF we make the playoffs; but I don't know that there is much seperation for the Phillies as most people think. Assuming the Brewers, Braves, Giants, and Phillies all make the playoffs; I believe it would be a crapshoot since all 4 have incredible Top 3 starting pitchers. If Weeks can come back healthy; I am not so sure that we don't have the best offense. The Phillies are tough but they aren't the Red Sox or Yankees on offense Phillies: Halladay Lee Hamels Brewers: Grienke Marcum Gallardo Braves: Jurjjens Hanson Hudson Giants: Lincecum Cain Vogelsong Those staffs are ridiculous
  17. Definitely a huge series; however at this point of the year anything but a sweep won't hurt the Brewers to bad. Taking 2 out of 3 would be nice heading into another 3 game series with Houston. Pretty even pitching matchups throughout; Brewers probably with a slight edge tonight, virtually dead even tomorrow, and the Cards probably have a slight advantage on Wed. With the series being at home I am pretty confident we can take 2 of 3. Even though the Cards hitting is monumentally better than the Cubs or Astros I still get the feeling that the starting pitchers will keep rolling.
  18. Jeez that August might be the easiest schedule I have ever seen. They could very well not play a team above .500 until the last series of the month. They have a lot of ground to make up though; the Brewers schedule is only marginally harder so they can't expect to gain much ground unless they go 18-10 or something similar to that
  19. I think 16 wins is a pretty safe bet. They play 6 against awful teams (CHI & HOU), 7 against a team they normally destroy (PIT), 7 against pretty beatable teams (LAD, NYM), and 8 against a good Cards team. If they go 4-2 against the crap, 4-3 against Pit, 4-3 against LAD/NYM, and 4-4 against STL that leaves them at 16-12. If they are 15 games over .500 heading into September I have to believe we will be in 1st place by 3+ games. The worst I can see them doing is 13-15 and the best is maybe 18-10. Either way the Crew is going to be right there with a month to go.
  20. Just imagine where this team would be if Marcum and Grienke weren't picked up in the offseason. At least one of our AAA guys would be starting and we would probably have Dave Bush or Doug Davis type starting. Those two pick ups are still two of the best pick ups by any team since the end of last year. Granted it was Melvin's fault that he let the rotation get that bad in the 1st place but I give him a lot of credit for getting it corrected in a big way. I was down on Grienke for stupid reasons in hindsight but his "bad luck" seems to have run out. I get real excited about the possibility of those two being extended. It will be interesting to see what Doug does this offseason with SS, 1st, and 3rd.
  21. I do think the negativity sorrounding a 1st place team at 11 games over .500 is a little overboard. I tend to agree that there have been personnel errors made this year though. The Brewers have an incredible starting rotation right now and it appears the bullpen is finally being used like we would like it. There are some weak links in the starting lineup but those players have been playing better since the all star break (Sans Counsell). You would think most Brewers fans would be happy where we are. Would we magically be 20 games over .500 right now if we never had Yuni and brought up Taylor Green 2 months ago? I doubt it. People are so pissed off that Yuni, McGehee, and Counsell are still on the team that they aren't enjoying a pretty good season. At least thats the way it comes across on Brewerfan.
