  1. The awesomeness of Steve Phillips continues I also had no idea that the CBA expires in December. I would assume that is a good thing and MLB won't be going the route of the NFL/NBA? I am still confident the NFL CBA will be done with no games lost but this NBA CBA looks to be a nightmare.
  2. Not a big deal tonight for me with Gamel/McGehee considering Liriano is going. But its not like I am expecting that McGehee will actually get a hit either
  3. Since when can 6 of 11 good outings be interpreted as a good thing? He has given up four or more runs in 5 of his 11 starts. He has gone 5.1 or less innings in 4 of his 11 starts About 7 starts I ago I agreed with with the general consensus that Grienke was just perhaps getting a little unlucky. 1.5 months later and the game crap is still happening. His stuff just doesn't look that good; he can't locate at all and when you can't locate it doesn't matter how good your breaking stuff is. He has given up a ton of meatballs. He has shown nothing this year that leads me to believe he will ever get close to 2009 again. I'll gladly eat my hat if he turns it around and carries us into the playoffs; but he hasn't instilled a whole lot of confidence in me other than 2-3 starts.
  4. I wonder, even if we wanted to, if we could trade ZG this offseason and still get a decent return back. That would obviously free up some payroll to add some other pieces. I still think he can turn it around; but I feel it would make more sense to extend Marcum long term than Grienke. Marcum has been extremely consistent; Grienke obviously hasn't. But we also haven't seen Cy Grienke; if he even exists anymore
  5. In all these interviews with Melvin, Roenicke and in articles written by TH & McCalvy Green is never mentioned as a viable candidate for the 3B. It seems like he is not even on the radar. McGehee will be on an extremely long leash and I wouldn't be suprised if Green isn't the next option. Nothing that I have heard indicates to me that the team thinks very highly of Green.
  6. I really don't think you can especially since he isn't even playing 3rd anymore in the minors. That being said, could he be a whole lot worse on defense than McGehee has? I remember him having above average range but an awfully inaccurate arm. McGehee has terrible range and and a somewhat accurate arm. Part of me does think that if Gamel finds a way to hit well in this 6 game stretch that Melvin will find a way to keep him up here with somewhat regular AB's. And when you think about it; the only way that would ever happen is at 3B. I don't know that they would keep him up just to be that power bat off the bench; Mat riding the pine hasn't worked well in the past
  7. In other news: When I asked my pet fish where Prince might sign he kept giving the same facial expression: OOOOOOOOO I assume that means the Orioles. Or he really like Lyle Overbay
  8. Well Passan in his mid-season awards gave the MVP to Reyes over Fielder and Kemp because Fielder plays a "laggard" position and Weeks/Braun have been nearly as important. He also cites poor defense and a poor team for not picking Kemp. I think their is about a 5% chance that Reyes would win MVP if the season ended today. I would say it is 60% Fielder, 35% Kemp, and 5% Reyes at this point. I don't think I could comprehend a realistic situation right now that would lead Melvin to trade Fielder. There is no way we won't be in the race and there is no realistic trade package that would be big enough.
  9. Oops forgot that DeFelice already did get sent down. Picking between sending Dillard or Mitre down is a "who cares" proposition. Neither is very good long term
  10. That McGehee WAR is incredible. It always seemed that he would be a flash in the pan player considering his MILB numbers; but he put up two very solid years. He has been bad in epic proportions this year
  11. Didn't he throw the guy that originally got him to the Cards under the bus? I vaguely remember a story a while back.
  12. I would have preferred Dillard or Defelice be sent down but it isn't that big of a deal to me. Mitre has been the last guy in the bullpen for a while now. We still have 2 guys that can go 2+ innings if need be in the bullpen (Defelice & Estrada) so we should be fine in the event of an occasional short start. I think our starteres are reliable enough that 7-8 times out of 10 they are going to go at least 6 innings.
  13. McGehee is annoying me. Doesn't score on the double to right because he is too darn slow Doesn't score on the flyout because is too darn slow Doesn't hit three very hittable pitches with the bases loaded because he is too darn sucky
  14. Honest question; When was the last time a team in any professional sport just completely blew up the team for a 100% rebuild situation. I can't really recall anyone off the top of my head. Its impossible to do on football; in baseball marque players are traded all the time but its not like teams try to trade every good player they have for prospects. Asking the Bucks to completely gut and rebuild seems a little unrealistic. Hell the Bucks might be in a position to draft top 5 anyways without blowing everything up. I could get behind trading one of Jennings or Bogut but not both. But then again; having about 5 first round draft picks in the 2012 draft might not be a bad idea. The draft is shaping up to be much much deeper.
  15. Seems like a solid deal to me. Now if the Bucks would stop giving out long term contracts to mediocre players they might not find themselves in this situation so much. Jennings Jackson Delfino / Ersan Gooden Bugut That lineup is still far from championship calibur and they still need some more scoring. They need a way to get rid of Gooden
  16. Oops. Yes I meant Pick #13
  17. Latest Rumor: To the Rockets: Ersan #10 To the Bucks #23 #24 Unknown player
  18. It sounds more and more like the Bucks are going to be trading back. Pretty good idea IMO. Perhaps they can move back to around 15; they probably still could get someone like Brooks at that point. Then they could use their 2nd 1st rounder from the trade to pick up another big man; preferably one that has some scoring ability. But if they stay at #10 I want Klay. That guy has the most potential to help out the Bucks woeful offense. They need someone that can hit a shot.
  19. When was the last time we won a day game during the week? It seems like it has been an eternity. I will be very interested to see what RR's justification was for pinch hitting Kotsay there. My guess is he'll offer off the lame Left handed professional hitter excuse.
  20. David Price is really really good. We probably weren't going to win this game anyways; but it still doesn't change the fact that RR seems to have no ability to use his noggin in late game situations.
  21. Saito really can't come back soon enough. Option out Dillard & DeFelice; bring back Braddock & Saito. I will be 100% more comfortable with the pen when Saito and Braddock are back.
  22. Yeah why you would bring in Dillard with so many lefties coming is a little mind boggling. I know we don't have a lefty in the pen but there are better options out there than Dillard to face lefties.
  23. Beating Hellickson & Price back to back would be pretty impressive. Despite Marcum's good season this far; this is a pitching matchup that favors the Rays especially when you consider RR is keeping a close eye on the pitch count, Yuni & GoGo should be "interesting" against Price.
  24. Figured this would happen after we blew a golden chance to take the lead.
