  1. In the event of injury I wish Melvin could go back to the Mets and beg to replace Green on the list with someone else. If we bring up Farris 4/9th of our starting lineup is pretty much awful. If they bring up Farris there will be just that much more pressure for Casey and Yuni to go on an extended hot streak
  2. No kidding. If Weeks does go on the DL and they still don't bring up Green he has to be on PTBNL list. He is the most logical guy to come up. Farris does nothing for me; you can't bring up a no hit 2nd basemen when you already have too many holes in the lineup. I am assuming Green plays a passable 2nd?
  3. That has got to be a DL stint. Might see Green in MLB yet; no way you can let Counsell play at 2nd
  4. I think it was an obvious missed call; if the PIT catcher had any thought that perhaps he missed the tag; he still would have had ample time to tag him again. That right there (and the fact the PIT catcher was sitting there waiting for him) should provided Meals a pretty good indication that Lugo was out. Let just hope Pit ends up out of first place by more than one game, otherwise I might feel a little bad for them. Obviously they still could have lost anyways so you can't just say Meals cost them a division championship.
  5. You really can't get behind this Giants team, that bullpen is just filthy.
  6. Loe is my idol. Holding out hope we could luck into one against Wilson, 2 or more? Not so much
  7. So they San Jose news Reporter compared Morgan to Milton Bradley? They aren't even in the same stratosphere IMO. The Brewers Blog today has me feeling that Morgan will try to tone it down a bit but is still going to be himself.
  8. I look at it this way. In April, June, and July Yuni has posted an OPS at or near .700; May was atrocious at .489 I think I would take a .700 OPS SS for 3 out of 4 months; although I think the hate for Yuni would die down a lot if he was at least mediocre in the field. It wouldn't help to take a walk or two either. He is obviously not even an average SS but if we can catch lightning in a bottle and he can keep up a .700 OPS for the rest of the year that would be huge.
  9. Grienke's pitched great and the offense has maybe gotten a bit unlucky. Two rockets with a guy at 2nd were hit right at people. Morgan also hit that balll pretty hard with the bases loaded; if he doesn't get so much air under it that might be a bases clearly triple When Fielder is looking this lost at the plate it certainly doesn't help the offense either
  10. But jeez his defense has just fallen off the charts this year. It seems that he boots anything that isn't a Sunday hop. His offense still makes him plenty valueable but that 8th inning yesterday is a perfect example of him having a major effect on the outcome of the game due to his poor defense.
  11. I don't know; wouldn't have Casey been a bit more off the line in the normal set up? He was more or less standing on 3rd in the 9th inning. If he would have been a couple steps off; Upton probably would have taken a shot at home.
  12. Melvin shouldn't waste his time on Beltran. Unless you plan on giving up Thornburg there is no way we could ever get a deal done. Considering our lack of top end pitching prospects and the potential for Grienke and Marcum to leave after 2012; Thornburg better not be going anywhere
  13. Holy crap what an awful non strike there. I don't get what the big deal was about taking Narveson out. Obviously he was pitching great but RR has been burned by his blow up innings before. I mean you had Krod and Axford in the 8th and 9th inning; I wouldn't hesitate to go to them either
  14. So who in the Brewers mnors would have been comparable to what the Tigers gave up for Betemit?
  15. It certianly wouldn't take a Top 25 or even top 35 prospect to get Carroll right? If all it takes is a border line Power 50 guy to get him I think it would be a very solid pick up. We don't need another guy with power; we need that OBP in the bottom half of the lineup.
  16. Karstens comes from the BABIP gods. His current BABIP is .235 and that contributes to his current strand rate of 88.7%. Its why his ERA is 2.34 while his FIP is 4.48 and his tERA is 4.77.In other words the Anti-Grienke?
  17. Well they already lost today; maybe we can permanently knock them out of first place tonight. They gave up only 3 runs (1 earned) in 3 games to the Reds but they also only scored 4 runs. They won't get away with an offense like that in the next month. That is still one heck of a pitching dsiplay against a good Reds offense. Where the heck did Karstens come from?
  18. I am cheering for the Pirates against STL and CIN right now because I still consider the other two teams the bigger immediate threat this year. However if the Pirates can come out of this 2 week stretch coming up within a couple games of first then maybe I start to worry. They will have to start to beat MIL if they think they can win the division. We play them 9 times in the last 2 months with 6 of those at home. This Pirates team seems remarkably similar to San Diego from last year. A ton of their pitchers are having incredible years and the offense has been very average. Its amazing that their pitching has been as good as its been because they are far and away the lowest Strikeout team in the league. I agree that it would be foolish of them to trade away their top prospects this year. They especially have to keep their MILB pitching because Correia, Karstens, Maholm, McDonald, and Morton just isn't going to be a good rotation long term.
  19. My personal inclination has always been that DM is trying as hard as he can to trade for a legitimate SS or 3B right now. If for some reason he can't get someone by the 7/31 trading deadline they will probably at least consider bringing up Green. Right now I think their view is that they don't want to bring him up and throw him to the wolves unless they absolutely have to. I also have to imagine he is a lock to be a September call up. Of course we could make a pretty good argument that they have to bring up Green now.
