  1. Why is everyone saying it is a foregone conclusion that Kotsay makes the team? Its not like they are paying the guy $5 million.
  2. Details are out 2011- $4M Signing Bonus, $3.5M Salary 2012- $10M 2013- $10M 2014- $11M Plus the 2015 option
  3. If the Cards really only offered him 8 years at around $20M a year I hope Pujols laughed at them. That is the contract that Fielder wants/gets (Well maybe 6 years at $20M) and Prince can't hold a stick to Pujols
  4. Pretty nice feeling knowing that every significant Brewers piece is signed through 2012 (Except for Fielder of course) and several are signed for even longer than that. Even with the loss of Fielder this team should be able to compete for the foreseeable future. Hopefully one of Marcum or Grienke is signed by the end of this year as well. Ideally the prospects we will draft this year and next year with the additional Fielder picks will be ready when the next round is needed in 2013-2015 A three year extension is the perfect length IMO; I am curious to see how the 4th year option is structured.

  6. Last year on multiple occasions Dish Network did not carry the HD broadcast when it was on the FSN schedule as being in HD. I complained a couple times but never really got anywhere. I would say a good 15% of the time the games weren't in HD when they should have been.
  7. I got a Carrier installed in December for about $2,750 and couldn't be happier. It is extremely quiet; plus the real price will be less than $2,000 once I get my tax credit this spring.
  8. Brewers trade for awesome pitcher Both Giants & Bucs lose which helps Packers tremendously (Even if they do get their butt kicked tonight) Yeah today was a really good day
  9. How is the college level draft class looking for 2011? The only reason I ask is since our system is pretty bare; I figured Melvin might target some players closer to MLB ready so the drop off in 2013-2014 isn't so huge when we lose at least a couple of these core players. I am not to worried about the farm system; we either are going to get a ton of draft picks when these guys leave or we are going to get some good talent when they are traded. Or even better we can extend a couple of Marcum, Gallardo, Weeks, Fielder, Grienke, etc. This is really a secondary issue though, the primary is obviously that the Brewers are going to be major contenders in 2011
  10. I would rather have it be Jeffress than Rogers. Rogers excited me too much as a SP prospect. Plus he is really the only depth right now if we have a SP injury.
  11. So who in the minors is a pretty good player but with an injury problem? Taylor Green, Logan Schafer?
  12. Awesome. A bullpen with Axford, Braddock, Jeffress, Hawkins, and Loe as the main guys is pretty solid. There isn't a ton of experience there either. This new rotation should instantly improve our bullpen anyways. Instead of having to pitch 25-30 innings for every 7 games; these better starters should be able to reduce that to around 20 or so. Doug should look at getting another lefty though; I wonder is Stetter is still capable.
  13. I think I would rather give Dickerson the full time job in CF at this point. Is it out of the realm of possibility that Cruz could be the starting SS next year? If we could somehow get Cabrera or Renteria for SS and good defensive CF; we have to be a lock for 90+ wins assuming no devastating injuries. Adding to two pitchers of this calibur is pretty incredible. Plus both Prince & Braun had down years last year and could reasonably be expected to improve.....
  14. Betancourt sure doesn't look very good, although he did hit 16 HRs last year. How is his defense? He can't possibly be worse than Escobar was on offense last year can he? Neither of them can take a walk. Looks like our #8 hitter to me
  15. I think it will be extremely important to extend one of Marcum & Grienke along with Weeks. If we can't keep either Fielder or Weeks after next year or Grienke & Marcum the year after; we are going to be terrible in 2013. But I guess a lot can happen before then.
  16. If I was Ken Macha or Rick Peterson I would be pretty pissed right now. Also congratulations to Ron Roenicke; your first big league gig just got a heck of a lot easier.
  17. I was under the impression that Doug had a ton of money to spend this year even assuming Fielder stuck around. I can't imagine that the payroll will be any higher than last year. If it is it can't be by much
  18. This is awesome news to wake up to in the morning. The loss of Odorizi definitely hurts the most; but I like Rogers & Rivas enough to think that we can still be alright in the pitching department. Besides we now don't need help from pitching prospects for 2 years. I wonder what we are going to do at SS though. A battle between Cruz & Betancourt? I will also be suprised if Doug doesn't get some kind of CF help as well. I agree with the previous poster that this all but gaurantees that we are keeping Prince around. There is no way Melvin makes these types of pitching moves only to severly diminish our offense. The only two holes I see rigt now are SS & CF; I am not asking for all stars there; but we do need to improve a bit. I wouldn't mind trying to package Narveson with some other pieces to get a CF. Then give Rogers a shot at the #5 spot. Grienke, Gallardo, and Marcum as our top 3 for the next two years is ridiculous. Also don't forget that if things don't work out this year but both Marcum & Grienke perform well; we could still trade them for a massive bounty next year at this time
  19. If John Axford lost 2 MPH on his fastball he would basically suck. How many hard throwers have really good secondary pitches? Only the elite ones do; if they lose velocity on the fastball they will fall fast and fall hard.
  20. Lawrie is hardly a cant miss prospect; getting a #2 pitcher straight up for him seems like a pretty solid deal. I think we are probably one more starting pitcher from being a serious contender (assuming Prince isn't traded). I think Gallardo, Marcum, 2nd half Wolf, Narveson, and another solid pick up would be good enough to seriously compete in the division assuming our offense stays intact.
  21. Even if Doug had to give up Lawrie I am not going to be to upset about it. His willingness to trade Lawrie probably means he is confident that he can keep Weeks around. With Weeks still around Lawrie probably wasn't going to factor into 2011 at all. We get to add a legit #2/#3 guy and we (hopefully) got to keep our best pitching prospects. Maybe I am just not as high on Lawrie as everyone else, but we badly needed pitching and weren't going to get what we wanted by trying to trade McGehee or our 2nd tier prospects. We clearly have enough hitting, adding Lawrie to our lineup probably isn't going to improve our team a whole lot, adding a #2/#3 pitcher like Marcum certainly will.
  22. Dish Network. First they didn't carry all the HD Brewer games that they were suppose to. Second they are in a dispute with ABC so I don't get HD for a couple channels like ESPNews and ABC Family. Third now they are in a dispute with Fox so FSN (Including Bucks games), FX are currently unavailable, Fourth after complaining via email and the online chat I have gotten no where, they don't seem to get that I am pissed. They promised me a bunch of new channels that are still blocked. Fifth apparently the local Fox Channel will be cut off if they don't come up with a new contract by 11/1; that means no NFL on Fox. sixth, I inexplicably lost the signal to the Packer game last night at varying times in the 4th quarter despite it being perfect weather. And finally Seventh, my contract doesn't expire until February so I am basically screwed. I really don't like to call and complain because I am sure they are getting bombarded right now and I don't want to be on hold for 30 minutes. But seriously this is ridiculous. Everytime someone wants to raise prices on Dish Network they just cut them off. I know Dish Network is pretty cheap compared to competitors so I don't care if they need to raise my bill a couple bucks. I can't imagine how many customers in WI they will lose if they cut off Packer games. Oh and my washing machine took a dump over the weekend.
  23. If it is Dickerson it seems like a decent return. He is currently on the 60 day DL, once he comes back I am sure he and Cain will split time although you would expect Cain to get most of it
  24. Rogers has a very good first couple innings, Heckathorn definitely not on his A game
  25. Doesn't really seem like their is much of a market for Fielder does there? The only things we have seen are reasons not to trade for the guy. At this point I will be pretty shocked if Fielder is trading by the 31st. The way the various articles paint him you would think he was some obese over the hill crackpot.
