  1. This did probably drop them to an 8; maybe a low 7. Obviously their 2nd round matchup if they manage to win their 1st game is going to be hougher. If they are hitting there 3's they can beat most teams; but then you get into games like last night where they weren't hitting them right away and as a result their offense looks completely dysfunctional. The entire starting 5 minus Vitto played like utter crap last night. I know Happ had a decent line by the end of thegame but he seemed really timid around the basket. Just go up strong.
  2. Looking forward to going out and hitting some balls here this Spring. I am a terrible golfer, I am usually around a 110 to 120 guy who struggles to make good contact. But late last year I seemed to figure out something with my swing and I am hoping I am a lot better this year. I am 6'7" so my swing is really long and I have never been able to keep it consistent. Problems with the wrists especially. Need longer clubs too.
  3. Just hold spring training at Miller Park. Screw playing other teams; you can find enough Division 1, II, and III teams to round out a schedule.
  4. I have already heard some rumors that Central Florida was interested in darner. I don't think he would leave after one year but if he strings together a couple more solid seasons he will be moving on up. Bubble is going to be really tight. Monmouth, Valpo, St Mary's, and Wichita State are already sweating it out and its only Wednesday with many more potential bid thieves possible.
  5. I guess I can't say for sure that Hammond pulled the trigger on that; but he is the GM and you kind of have to assume he is OK with it. The owners have never struck me as basketball savants who really understand the game enough to try to force a player on the team. Kidd on the other hand of course could have pushed for that. The style of play when Monroe is on and off the court is just staggering; its like to completely different teams. Without him we have a very poor mans version of the Warriors that are running and gunning; with him we have the Dick Bennett Badgers.
  6. Giannis has really been playing the point for the last couple weeks; Bayliss and Mayo have brought the ball up on occasion. I think Giannis at the Point Forward has really been great; the team seems to be a lot more dangerous on offense with better flow. Plus Giannis and Parker seem to be jelling better and are both putting up really nice stat lines. I still notice that the offense really bigs down when Monroe comes in the game. They always make an effort to feed the post when he is in there and the offensive just stops completely. With the way Giannis and Parker are playing I really think they are a good athletic center away from being really frickin good. Plus of course Giannis and Parker continuing to develop there shots
  7. Monmouth went out played a lot of good teams in non-conference but it just so happens some of those ended up not being all that good. Mounmouth should be commended for playing that schedule. Unfortunately their conference is atrocious which really kills the RPI. I would rather see Valpo or Monmouth make that another middling big conference team like Michigan or Florida. Not likely to happen but it makes the tournament more enjoyable to most fans.
  8. It would be pretty cool to see UWGB make it. I would guess if they do they are probably a 15. Couple possible bid thieves with Monmouth and Valpo losing. Monmouth probably doesn't make it but Valpo has a decent shot. Bubble teams are definitely getting nervous; some surprises in the mid major tourneys so far.
  9. Oops you are right it would be Maryland. UW matches up a lot better with Maryland than with Purdue.
  10. Not much you can do when Purdue hits there outside shots like that. You have to try to make the guards beat you and not Hammons, those guys just happen to have career nights. It happens. If Purdue shoots like that I am not sure there are many teams period that could have beaten them. They should beat Nebraska / Rutgers winner in Round 1 and then get to go against Purdue for the 3rd time on Friday. Win that first game I will say they are going to be no worse than a 7.
  11. West Virginia and Utah are t seed type teams that I really really like. WV is a really solid team. Of course they can be beat but I won't be surprised to see them advance quite a ways. I love Utah more than anyone on the 3 seed line; unless they end up with Kansas or Michigan St in their draw I am putting them in the Final 4.
  12. The problem is they would be playing OK in OK City so it would pretty much be another road game. Any game other than against OK in OK City, Kansas, or Michigan St in the 2nd round I would be happy.
  13. I wonder if he'll take the job Ugly win yesterday but you could tell UW kind of put in cruise control in the 2nd half. Minnesota was all kinds of terrible. Purdue is a touch match up for UW but they did hang with them earlier when they weren't playing that great. If they can beat Iowa and Maryland on the road then they have a shot at Purdue. Really hoping UW can somehow find there way to the 6 line. They probably have to beat Purdue and win at least one game in BTT tourney to do that. Right now Lunardi has them as a 7 with Providence in the 1st round and Oklahoma in the 2nd. Fine with Providence but would rather not play OK again. I would rather get Xavier or Miami on the 2 line.
  14. Arcia hits a 2R HR. Good way to start the year
  15. That seems odd to me. With as much talent was we have in the OF and with as little talent as we have at 1B it would seem to make sense to leave him there. I guess I was never under the impression that he was a butcher at 1st. Who is our best 1B prospect at this point? Right answer is probably someone who is an OF right now.
  16. It really depends on what you consider bad losses. Palm has been very negative against UW during this entire run. I would assume he considers a bad loss to be to a team above 100 RPI. UWM and Western Illinois are certainly bad losses but Marquette is 113, Georgetown is 105, and Northwestern is 121. I don't think those should be considered horrible. Plus I have to imagine it is incredibly rare to find a tournament worthy team with those kind of losses coupled with the huge wins. They have a 33 RPI despite 10 total losses and 5 losses over 100; that in itself is pretty incredible.
  17. NBC Sports already has UW as a 6. Lunardi has them as a 7. CBS Sports continues to be more down on UW than the other sites and they have them as an 8. If they take care of business against MN I don't think they are any worse than an 8. If they run the table all the way to playing in the BTT championship I would say their ceiling is a 6; if the committee really likes them maybe a 5 but I doubt it. I don't think there is some monumental difference between the 1's and the 2's this year so I don't know if it matters if they are a 7, 8, 9, or 10. There are certain teams I would rather avoid but I could care less about the actual seeding. Michigan State and Kansas are really the only two teams I want no part of. Even those teams UW could beat if things really go well.
  18. Anything this team accomplishes is really gravy at this point in my book. My expectations were really all that high entering Big 10 play. My hope is that they end up on the 6/7 line. If they make the 2nd weekend that would be tremendous but I don't think I would be totally crushed if they didn't. They have already exceeded expectations and are setting themselves up for a another really nice run next year. That being said, depending on the draw they get, they certainly can knock off that 2 or 3 seed in the 2nd round and then who the heck really knows after that.
  19. There probably is some non 0% chance that Nigel turns pro. Don't know if he would get drafted but he could get paid in Europe if he wanted. Pritzl and Van Vliet are thought of highly and both would add scoring immediately. Depth might be too much next year; Gard won't be able to play 10-12 guys consistently. Almost a guaranty that whatever recruits they get for next year are going to redshirt or not play.
  20. So the job was posted. With it being mid-season that means its an almost certainty that Gard is getting the job. No other current coach is going to apply to a job you have to start March 8.
  21. I didn't mean to make the UW win feel any less; I just meant that Iowa certainly didn't feel like the #8 team in the country. They look like a team that will be lucky to make it out of the first weekend. They obviously were playing much better earlier in the year. UW surely had a part in making them look bad; but they also just lost to Penn State. That team is a mess right now.
  22. Badgers are really playing for seeding at this point. Yes if they lose out there is a chance they miss the tourney but that seems highly unlikely to me. If they end up a 7-9 seed they are going to put up one hell of a fight against the 1-2 seed in the 2nd round. There isn't a top seed out there that isn't beatable. As long as UW is hitting their 3's they can hang with anybody. Also Iowa just didn't look very good at all; they definitely were playing better a month ago. Woodbury played his butt off and Jok had a good 1st half but Uthoff was soft and broke and their PG play was pathetic to put it mildly. I can't see them doing much in the tourney.
  23. Giannis really gives a different dynamic to the team when he is running the point. The offense just seems much more fluid and open. It was a good idea to bring Monroe off the bench as a change of pace. He just quite obviously doesn't fit with the starting lineup. That should be an indictment on Hammond; he should have known better to think a plodder like Monroe would fit in with this athletic Bucks team. Monroe will probably get traded in the offseason I would guess. MCW is fine coming off the bench as a role player type. If they can get an athletic center or a strong shooter in the upcoming draft that would be huge. Plus of course Giannis and Jabari getting better outside shots.
  24. Didn't the commish recently say that adding the DH wasn't high on his priority list? I don't think it is imminent at all.
  25. I think if they can beat Michigan and Minnesota and one of Iowa or Purdue they will be a solid 7 seed. I think a 7 seed would be a pretty solid place to be in this years tourney so long as Michigan St isn't your #2. Maryland, Iowa, Virginia, Xavier, Oregon, West Virginia, and Miami are on the 2/3 line right now and absolutely none of those teams should really strike a ton of fear for any 6/7 seed. Or 10/11 for that matter
