  1. There are still 10 days to go; maybe something happens this weekend but I am not going to expect something here soon. Unless a team says take the offer now or its gone (Like Sabathia) I would be inclined to wait and maybe hope for an injury on a contending team to drive up the price. The Brewers are quite obviously the team best positioned to unload assets and get a tremendously brighter future. Whether or not Stearns pulls it off we will see. We have at least 3 high quality relievers that are in high demand and we have the best all around hitter that is available in Lucroy, and perhaps the biggest wildcard in the whole thing in Braun. I don't think it is hyperbole to say that the next 10 days are incredibly important for the success of the franchise in the long term.
  2. Its not like we have any good 1st basemen in the pipeline either so I don't know that Gatewood playing there every once in a while would be such a bad thing.
  3. IDK; I don't see any way Arcia isn't in MLB on Opening Day 2017 even if his 2016 year is a little worse than we hoped. We aren't competing next year but you want Arcia to get a track record and some AB's before we are competing.
  4. Well who the heck is the pitching coach in Colorado Springs and why are Lopez, Hader, Jungmann, etc all of a sudden no longer capable for throwing strikes in that league. Hader walked guys in AA too; but it has gotten worse since the promotion.
  5. I am in the; if it ain't broke don't fix it camp with Thornburg. He is a very valuable reliever who is a trade or two from becoming a cost controlled closer. I would just assume leave him in the bullpen. In a perfect world he would have stayed a starter but I think that ship has sailed. He can be a 3-5 type starter or a lock down reliever.
  6. Hammond has made some solid trades and draft picks recently but he seems to really struggle in free agency.
  7. Looking at Colorado Springs box scores is depressing. All of our pitchers go to die there yet we can't get really good numbers for our hitters either. BC has gotten a nice influx in talent from the draft and promotions; I really hope they have a nice 2nd half.
  8. I agree that this is pretty messed up. I kinda feel bad for the guy because he is being made the scapegoat. I still have a hard time believing other people in the Cardinals organization didn't know about this. I think they are going to get the Patriots punishment. No 1st round pick in 2017, maybe loss of their international pool for next year. There would never be any sort of postseason ban.
  9. He's like Russell the Muscle if Russell ever would have gotten consistent playing time.
  10. If Garnett is the closet comp to Maker I really hope he doesn't turn into the same turd personality wise as Garnett. They can't pay Monroe and Plumlee those combined amounts. Paying that much for a backup center is way to high. Monroe has got to be on the way out. The core of the team is still quite strong with Giannis, Middleton, and Parker. All they need is a competent center (The equivalent of Zaza) and some sort of consistent shooting threat from being a perennial playoff contender. Plumlee could be a Zaza type player and we will see if they have picked up enough shooting this offseason to make a difference.
  11. Not a single prospect in the system right now should be viewed as a sure thing. Yes Arcia will be a stud defender but his offense is unknown. It seems to me we are in a far weaker position than early when we had the likes of Fielder, Braun, Weeks, Hardy, Gallardo, etc coming up. Are system may be pretty deep with a lot of under the radar talents but the lack of clear superstar upside is concerning. And lets be honest; the results of this MILB season are not what really anyone was hoping for. I was hoping for a breakout from a couple guys and instead most took a step backwards (Looking at Lopez and Medeiros specifically)
  12. I like the idea of scouring the lower minors for more high ceiling talent; it just sucks that will of course lengthen the time of the rebuild. That probably is the best way to get the high end pitching talent back though. Best case scenario is a wild card contender in 2018; but more likely 2019. The key is absolutely going to be on the pitching side. We have quite a bit of offensive talent scattered throughout the system but the pitching is still light. Obviously Hader is there but then you need to see some guys come through like Lopez, Woodruff, Ponce, Medeiros, Etc.
  13. Jeffress, Smith, and Torres should all be appealing to contenders. It seems pretty apparent that the Brewers have some of the best and most trading pieces in all of MLB; so it will be pretty disappointing if Stearns doesn't make a few deals.
  14. Woodruff has not really been on my radar; I guess I didn't realize he was that hard of a thrower. Just another guy that has some potential to be a solid middle of the rotation starter hopefully.
  15. Is that Taylor Green the Taylor Green? I didn't know he had become a scout.
  16. I just don't understand the concept. Pokémon was always something for 7 year olds; now all these adults are wandering aimlessly throughout the streets playing it? I think it is actually kind of creepy. Kids shouldn't be wandering around by themselves all day and adults being obsessed about Pokémon is just weird. It was annoying when people are staring at the phones texting while walking; this is a lot worse than that.
  17. He got pushed around in the post at times yesterday; that is the one area of the game he need immediate improvement on. More lower body strength. He clearly seems to have the motor and athletic ability to make some sort of contribution right away. I hope they try to get him 10 minutes or so a game and go from there. The Bucks desperately need to improve rebounding and shot blocking and if this translates into real NBA games he will be a valuable asset.
  18. I wonder who we might have in the 50-100 range. A lot of the borderline Top 100 guys we had going into the season have kind of disappointed.
  19. There are a lot of horrible people in this world. That is all. I would like to make it one day without hearing about one suicide bomber, cop killer, mass shooting, terrorist attack, armed forces death, or police shooting controversy. Not meant to be political but all this stuff is sure disheartening.
  20. Gatewood and Diaz have improved substantially over the last month. Now if only Gatewood could learn to take a walk.
  21. Crazy you get an instant ban for doing coke. I don't think other leagues have anything that harsh. The two signings are obvious attempts to improve the team shooting. I am not sure where they go from here; unless they trade Monroe I don't think they have enough cap space to add another significant piece.
  22. How exactly do you get a ban when the only previous issue was a 10 game PED ban? All the info I have seen doesn't say why such a harsh penalty for a 1st time offensive for a drug of abuse. Weird. Not that he was coming back to the Bucks but that is still crazy.
  23. FA starts today; looking forward to the Bucks getting some sloppy seconds and overpaying for them. Of course everyone is going to get paid a ridiculous amount this year due the cap skyrocketing. Hey at least it looks like we aren't getting Noah.
  24. Diplan has been amazing; I am looking forward to him next year when they let him loose a bit more.
  25. Read an article about the opposing player hurt in BC's weight room. I have to imagine there is going to be a nice lawsuit to come out of that; a nice kick out the door I guess.
