  1. I think Xavier is the most likely team in the BE to advance far into the tourney is you ask me. They don't have any marquee wins either but they at least pass the eye test. Lunardi has UW as a 9 taking on Colorado in Round #1 and Kansas in Round #2. Watch out Jayhawks Palm has UW as a 10 in the Play In Game against George Washington with Notre Dame as the 1st round matchup. Palm has been down on UW for a long time and has consistently had them 4-6 spots lower than Lunardi USA Today has UW has a 8 taking on Colorado in Round #1 and Kansas in Round #2 Yahoo Sports Big Board has UW as a 10 seed If they lose at Iowa Palm probably takes them off the board but they would still be in the tourney solidly at the other sources. Beat Michigan and they are surely in everywhere.
  2. Iowa has really been struggling; so long as their shooting is better than MSU or the 1st half last night they should be in that game to the end. Win that game and I have to believe they are pretty much a lock.
  3. I don't care if we are going to suck or not; its still great to have baseball back. Really excited to watch the minor leaguers develop more than anything but there will hopefully be some positive stories in Milwaukee too.
  4. Tough game but not wholly unexpected. MSU is a tough team especially at home. Valentine is tremendous and UW had a horrible shooting night. You would think after Hayes missed his first 8 jump shots he would try to get to the basket a bit. Happ also missed some bunnies. Come back and beat Illinois this weekend and they will stay on the right side of the bubble
  5. Haniger is an after thought at this point so it is Davies vs. Banda. It would appear both have about the same ceiling as a mid rotation starter; Davies is about a year ahead of Banda. Kind of seems like a wash to me without considering the MLB impact of Parra on two non-playoff teams for the Crew.
  6. Villanova is probably going to be the overall #1; but I have come away unimpressed every time I watch them. They haven't been challenged to much in the BE though. Kansas is solid but I wouldn't bet the farm on them. OK has a really good team and if they are hitting there shots they are the best team in the country. But they are in a slump right now. Arizona is pretty solid again and you have the normal blue bloods in the ACC doing there thing. Michigan State is probably my favorite team in the B10 as far as tourney hopes go.
  7. Hammonds seems like a guy that isn't really patient to let his "mistakes" work out. If he doesn't think MCW or Monroe is going to work out he is just going to ditch them now instead of waiting for another year. That being said it has been very quiet so I doubt anything gets done.
  8. I don't think there is a team in the nation that would surprise me if they lost in the round of 32. The top is so incredibly average this year. I will be shocked if UW can go into MSU and win tonight but they should beat the 9.5 point spread. Wisconsin has been playing great but Valentine can single handily win games for MSU; if he is hitting his shots forget about it.
  9. Not exactly sure why Orlando did that deal. Harris is the best player traded. Jennings has fallen off the face of the earth and Ersan is just getting old and injured. Must be an expiring contract in there
  10. Thomas must have said a magic word to get the T because he didn't get anywhere near Stone. Somehow saying the magic words = slamming a face into the court. Whatever. If the Badgers would have lost because of that 1 point or if Stone went off in the 2nd half I would have been more upset. Badgers are universally in the 9-10 range right now; so long as they are at least competitive against MSU I don't see them somehow falling out again. Then beating Illinois will definitely keep them on the right side of the bubble. Iowa hasn't been all that impressive of late; I am liking the Badgers chances of going in there and stealing that game more and more. Not saying they will but Iowa isn't as good as their record IMO. They are a jump shooting team, just like UW, catch them on a cold night and you never know.
  11. Michigan State is playing pretty darn well of late; as optimistic as I can I just can't see them going into Breslin and knocking them off. Valentine is such a difficult match up. If UW keeps shooting well I guess you never know. They are much more likely to beat Purdue or Iowa on the road than MSU. I would prefer they stay off the 8/9 line if I had the choice; but still there aren't any Kentucky, Duke, UW teams out there this year. Every team has warts.
  12. CBS Sports has them as a 10 seed in the latest bracketology with Baylor in the 1st round, Miami in the 2nd round and Oregon/Texas in the 3rd round. I would take that bracket all day. If they just beat Michigan, Illinois, and Minnesota they will get to 11-7 in BT and 19-12 overall going into the BTT. In all likelihood they should have a good matchup in that first round to get them to 20 wins. I would be shocked if they didn't get in with 20 wins considering the wins they have. I don't want to say UW can go on a run in the tourney yet because a lot can happen in 3 weeks. They are shooting very well right now and a poor shooting night could lead to an early exit. But they are gaining in confidence every day and with no obviously dominant teams in college basketball this year you really never know.
  13. Stone and Allen aren't on equal playing fields for being dirty. Stone slammed a guys head into the ground; but Allen had is own dirty play when he deliberately tripped the Louisville player. Plus it is pretty easy to hate on him since he is the next in line to be that next great Duke white guy that everyone hates. Plus he killed UW last year after doing pretty much nothing all year.
  14. Very dormant thread but holy cow has UW improved under Gard. Completely dismantled the #2 team on the road. THey are surely on the right side of the bubble for now but to be safe they need to beat the teams they are supposed to and win a game or two in the BTT tourney. Didn't see this coming. ON the flipside it is awfully disappointing that we aren't going to see Marquette in the tourney this year. There one year with Ellenson is being wasted. They need to win the BE tournament to make it in all likelihood. Also Diamond Stone is a punk and Grayson Allen is a punk and traveled.
  15. Looks like a couple guys who probably have high ceilings but also low floors. Derby is really far away yet and Nottingham had two pretty nondescript rookie league seasons before breaking out last year. Hopefully he isn't a one year wonder. Seems like a decent deal but not some no brainer
  16. The MLB team is probably going to be a dumpster fire but man Stearns sure is making the minor leagues fun to follow. Really building up the anticipation for when these kids hit the bigs similar to the type when Fielder/Braun/Weeks were coming up. Stearns is even getting MILB talent all the way from Rookie League to AAA so hopefully the Brewers can count on an infusion of young talent year after year after year. Brewers have very legitimate prospects at every level going into 2016 which is something that hasn't been the case for a while.
  17. Fox is notoriously hard to pick up with an indoor HDTV antenna. I have a 60 mile range indoor antenna for one of my TVs which picks up every GB station except Fox. No matter how I position it Fox won't come in. I have heard the same issue from multiple other people.
  18. You would have to give Lucroy and Arcia or something like that to get Giolito back I imagine.
  19. I think FDL probably has about 4 inches on the ground now; it was a lot heavier from 11-1 or so and is dying down now. Looks like a big ole sloppy mess outside but hardly a major snow storm. We got more snow last week and that didn't even register a blip on any national weather news.
  20. I don't think you can call him a bust yet, but if he doesn't develop that 3 point shot in the near future it will be a disappointment. Plus he is a poor defender. The kid is still coming back from knee surgery so I think this is a feeling out year for him. He needs to take a big leap next year.
  21. FDL is now down to that 2-4 inch range; despite that a whole bunch of schools have already cancelled for the day. Snow isn't even supposed to start until late Morning; could have at least gotten a 1/2 day in pretty easily. For as long as this storm has been talked about; it is definitely a dud for those in southeast and east central WI.
  22. While Monroe has put up some solid stats he is clearly not a very good fit with the rest of the roster. I would see what the trade market for him is. They need a good defensive C that can get up and down the floor, not a plodder in Monroe. Vaughn has shown some nice promise in the last couple of weeks. HE is still very young and hopefully he can turn into a valuable SG. Either through the draft or trade they need to be looking at a PG and a more mobile C. This season is pretty much lost but at least they have put themselves in a position to get another solid player in the draft next year. NBAdraft.net currently has them taking the 7 footer from Utah. I think he is a pretty mobile guy who would fit in pretty nicely. Buddy Heild from OK is having an amazing year; he could definitely be a great addition as a shooter. FWIW that site has Nigel Hayes as a mid-second rounder. I would be curious to see if Hayes would be willing to leave UW for that.
  23. Who the heck plays C if Lucroy does get traded? Even if we are rebuilding I don't want to see Maldonado every day behind the plate. Yuck. Do we even have any in house candidates? No one else on the 40 man. Wiesenberger maybe? At least he has one very good specific tool in his walk rate. No idea if he is considered a good defensive catcher. Pretty solid caught stealing percentage.
  24. I have seen anywhere from 6-12 for FDL but we are still at that borderline between all snow and snow/rain mix so I am sure the actual totals could vary quite a bit. I am just happy no one is predicting some 18-24 inch monster.
  25. Yes very insightful. What is very exciting is that the Brewers generally have 5 guys in the Top 100 already in Arcia, Lopez, Hader, Clark, and Phillips and none of those guys will probably graduate to MLB this year. And you could make the case for anywhere from 5-10 guys that COULD make the leap to a Top 100 list by the end of the year based on talent (Medeiros, Williams, Lara, Harrison, Gatewood, Coulter, Ponce, Diplan, Kirby, Diaz, etc). Obviously not all of those guys are going to make the leap but odds are at least a couple will. So at this time next year could the Brewers potentially have 7-10 guys in the Top 100? Not out of the realm of possibility. Plus the 2016 draft will add more talent as well. Still need more upper echelon Top 25 type guys but definitely making a lot of progress.
