  1. The guy is still relatively new to basketball so to say he can't improve if he is 24 isn't really accurate. Its like he has been in AAU since he was 7.
  2. Well Skal L looked like an end of the bench guy in college and he still got drafted in the first round. NBA drafts on potential vs. production more than perhaps any other sport. Hopefully the kid really does have the work ethic to get better and contributes some day. So the kid graduated from HS in Australia, then went the a HS in the United States, than attended a Prep School in Canada. Shouldn't either of those schools caught what was going on here through transcript requests? They can't just take the kids word for it. The Australian school had to have had transcripts showing Thon graduated from HS.
  3. I am fine with the pick; because again I didn't see an alternative at 10 that really would have been a good fit for the Bucks. Given his athletic ability and work ethic I think he was worth the gamble. I don't know why he didn't improve all that much while in Canada. Maybe it was coaching, maybe it was playing down to competition. Who knows.
  4. My care is ding free but someone there are 3 or 4 pretty good sized scratch marks that I have no idea how they got there. Probably some punk kids who had nothing better to do then key my car while I am at work.
  5. Noah would be a trainwreck for this team. He is a shell of his former self and the numbers thrown around for his contract are mega stupid. I am not sure who the FA targets are going to be; but a 3 PT shooter has to be included to replace Bayless / Mayo. I just don't see them signing some big name guy but what do I know; maybe the young core is intriguing to other players. It is probably just best to hang onto Monroe until the dust of FA settles because you know there probably will be a team that strikes out in FA and is desperate for a big man. Maybe get a 1st due in the next couple of years.
  6. At least with the salary cap the way it they have a decent shot of retaining any top flight talent that they develop (Such as Giannis). It would suck to draft guys like Maker, Vaughn, Giannis, Parker etc and lose them little by little because they get to expensive. There is a reasonable chance that Milwaukee can keep the entire core around for a number of years (If those players actually want to stay).
  7. So it is basically Giannis 2.0. Giannis was incredibly risky; however it was apparent almost immediately in his first season that he had the talent and capability. With Maker I am not sure he will see the floor much at all this upcoming season. Especially if the Bucks have plans on competing. That being said it would be awesome to have a lineup of Giannis, Middleton, Parker, Maker and ? when the new arena opens. That would be pretty fun if it all works out. Agreed that the roster still has a lot of work to do before the start of the season; hopefully Hammond can work some magic with FA signings and/or trades. He has been much better trading for talent than signing it.
  8. Young is young whether he is 19 or 23. I really don't think that matters at all. The bucks saw an athletically gifted 7 footer who can shoot and run the floor. Why does it matter what age the kid is. Either way his next 2 years will be spent getting stronger. If he can contribute 2 years from now I don't care if he is 21 or 25. Maybe it was a reach at 10; but honestly I don't think I would have been all that excited about any one they picked at that spot. They were all bleh talents that have warts. Maker obviously has a lot of work to do but the ceiling is tremendously high. He how has access to better coaches and better facilities than he has ever had. I'll be rooting for him.
  9. Regardless of if Maker ends up being a decent player; he almost certainly won't make this years team any better. They still have not solved their shooting woes and they still don't know what to do with Greg Monroe. Brogdon I like in the 2nd round but he isn't going to be able to replace the production of Bayless most likely. Maker is going to be a non entity this year. Bucks are really banking on Vaughn and Brogdon I guess. There wasn't a real difference maker left at 10 so I guess they swung for the fences. If they really wanted Maker they could have moved down; but I understand there probably weren't to many teams trying to get 10.
  10. I would rather trade up for Jamal Murray if you want a guard. But you would probably need to get into the top 5 or maybe #3 to make that happen. Theoretically if you could trade Middleton and Monroe to the Celtics for #3 and #16 plus maybe a player. You could get Murray at #3, Poeltl at #10, and Valentine at #16 and you would have a boatload of cap space to make a run at someone like Hassan Whiteside, Damar DeRozan, Dwight Howard, Etc. End up with a lineup of Giannis Jamal Murray Jabari Parker Hassan Whiteside ? With the Middleton rumors floating around I am having difficulties envisioning the Bucks getting better by trading him unless they nab a really high FA due to the cap space. Turning Middleton and Monroe into say DeRozan, Murray, Poeltl and someone from the Celtics sounds kind of appealing though.
  11. I am not really in love with either David or Poeltl. I don't think Poeltl's game is going to translate very well and when watching MSU last year it seemed like Davis got lost in the shuffle a lot and disappeared. Poeltl could play right away but I don't think their is much upside there. Davis probably couldn't play right away and I would be fine with Plumlee / Henson. I would much rather get some guard help and if you can't get that trade back. I could get behind Wade Baldwin. Shot over 40% from 3; between him and Vaughn I hope one of them one turn into that 3 point specialist / defense guy the team really needs
  12. So far my rabbit fence has kept all the critters out. My soil must suck though because the plants aren't growing as well as I had hoped. Probably doesn't help that I couldn't put my garden in complete full sun. Only gets direct sun from 12:30 or so on.
  13. Erceg off to a really nice start. Not a whole lot of pitching in Colorado Springs was there? Ouch. Medeiros struggled again; I had such high hopes for him this year and for him to be struggling so bad in a pitchers haven is discouraging. Well the whole darn team has been discouraging. Having both Colorado Springs and Brevard County as affiliates does create a unique challenge for our coaches and talent evaluators. Less than ideal. I am starting to feel bad for Coulter; he just needs a fresh start somewhere else.
  14. Bull traded Derrick Rose; maybe not unexpected but still incredible how far he has fallen. Giannis wasn't playing a ton of really good competition when the Bucks drafted him either; but it was better than Canadian kids. If Poeltl or Davis is the Pick at #10 I would love to trade Monroe for a pick next year and then somehow trade into the bottom 1/2 of Round #1 this year for a guy like Denzel Valentine, Demetrious Jackson, or Malik Beasley. NBA draftexpress has the Bucks taking Ellenson at #10, Maker #36, and Onuako at #38. I don't really want any part of Ellenson at #10 (Maybe if they trade back) but getting Maker in the 2nd round would be pretty great.
  15. Getting a cash buyer is really their only option but who knows if it would be a short-sale or if they just aren't getting enough cash out to satisfy them for whatever reason. If they are in deep and have struggling finances many times a bank will accept a reasonable short sale. When I sold my house last year I basically got what I paid for it about 6 years ago. However I had put a ton of money into it. I just realized that the market I was in was not going to change enough at any time in the future to allow we to recoup my entire investment so I just said screw it and took what I could get.
  16. Two WI players yesterday; anyone in the State expected to get picked today? Kind of incredible there have only been 26 WI prep players ever drafted in the first 2 rounds. WI isn't a hotbed for baseball but that just seems amazing to me.
  17. A Ray, Clark, Phillips combo in the OF probably would be on the weaker side in terms of power potential; but a lot of the other tools are really nice. Odds are that OF never happens but it is fun to dream.
  18. It seems to me that the biggest knock people seem to be having is that perhaps is power isn't going to translate and scouts are mixed if he can play CF or not. Obviously if he can play CF I am completely fine if he ends up being that speedy leadoff hitter with doubles power and 10 home runs. Getting that out of a corner OF is a little different. That being said if the makeup of the team doesn't require that a LF be a middle of the order hitter than who really cares? As long as you are getting power from somewhere I don't really care if our LF is only giving 10 HR's a year. I don't know anything about the other two picks; but it would be nice to develop an actual 3rd base prospect one of these years so hopefully the 2nd rounder works out.
  19. The only was I can feasibly see trading a guy like Nelson is if you get someone back in AA or AAA that could be reasonably expect to start for the team next year. If you want to compete in say 2018 or 2019 you need to get some of that rotation experience in the big leagues for a year or two. Hader should hopefully be in Milwaukee next year. If we don't have Nelson I would really prefer to get a guy to pair with Hader next year. Give them 2 years to develop in Milwaukee and then you have 4 more years of team control while you are competing.
  20. My step dad makes a smoked prime rib. I am not sure if smoked prime rib in general isn't very good or if just he isn't good at it; but it sucks. He makes a nice smoked turkey but the traditional prime rib is so much better than if smoked.
  21. How is the watching quality of a sporting event on cable vs. through Sling? I have Charter High Speed internet but I would still be afraid of some buffering or slow/interrupted feeds at times
  22. I would love to start this as a hobby but good cuts like briskets, ribs, etc are just crazy expensive. That's a lot of money if the meat turns out good and a lot of money if it ends up terrible.
  23. Even if Nelson isn't a #1 and never will be a #1 it sure as heck would benefit the Brewers to have a guy like Nelson maybe be a 3rd or 4th starter 2-3 years from now when we are competing again. At some point if we want to compete there is going to have to be some sort of veteran presence on the pitching staff. We can't rely on 5 guys that have 2 or less years of experience. Nelson is frickin Jeff Suppan or Kyle Lohse here. If we keep him around for 3-5 more years he is still a young pre peak or peak pitcher. We should have all sorts of payroll flexibility. Yes if someone inquires on Nelson you listen but it would take an awful lot IMO.
  24. I don't think that is entirely it. If you look at the pitch counts he could have routinely gotten into the 6th or 7th inning if allowed to go 95+ pitches. Does he have some bad splits against righties or something?
  25. Villar is basically Gomez on the baseplates. Every team always has one regardless of whatever make-up the fans think the team has. Gomez just happened to stand out more for the base running issues because of his personality and skill level.
