  1. I think smart phones are more of an addiction for the 25 and under crowd as that is mostly all that they have ever used. I sometimes wonder how new college grads actually make it through job interviews since no one has to actually talk on the phone or to someone's face anymore. It would make an awesome drinking game to see how many people 25 and under at a brewer game you can find on their phone during a half inning. I'd be plastered. I have a smart phone but if I am driving I have no intention of ever looking at it.
  2. Looks like Kodi was really the only bright spot in a pretty terrible day down on the farm. Hopefully he has figured out something mechanically.
  3. Most of the players we thought could be traded/flipped at some point this season seem to be increasing their value. Braun, Carter, Lucroy, Hill. If Smith were healthy and performing and if Peralta were just terrible the Crew would have a huge amount of potential trade pieces. I for one am curious what Villar could possibly bring. He has exceeded my expectations by quite a bit and doesn't appear to be in the organizations long term plans.
  4. The immaturity issues would have to be a lot more than "typical HS kid" for scouts to take notice I imagine. I don't know much about these prospects but from everything I have read if he is there at #5 you would be dumb to pass him up.
  5. Excited to get out there and plant the garden this weekend. Well most of it at least; probably will wait another week on the tomatoes/peppers. I tried starting those indoors this year with those peat moss pellets. I think the tray holds about 72 individual pellets and I managed to only get 3 tomato plants and 0 pepper plants to sprout. I think I am just going to buy the plants next year. Also first time with a garden at the new house. I put up a rabbit fence but I am anxious to find out if that is enough barrier for all the critters running around.
  6. Everyone here was so excited about the Medeiros, Gatewood, Harrison draft. Of course all were viewed as high risk high reward guys but this year has been pretty bad for all 3. Holding out hope that at least one of them figures it out. I really thought Kodi was going to step up.
  7. Well Walsh has been pretty useless too; I don't think I would care to much if we returned him at this point. He is patient to a fault. He is going up there trying to walk and hasn't appeared capable of hitting actual MLB pitching. You can't be anything more than a utility guy if that is your only skill. Plus he has been below average at best on D.
  8. The pitching rotation has made modest improvements in the last week. Granted they were coming from a very low point but I see some progress.
  9. Troy Stokes is back that's great to see. Diplan/Peralta days are always good days. Wisconsin has generally been pretty disappointing offensively but they have some fine pitching performances so far.
  10. I looked up Ryan Braun's rankings today and everything was pretty impressive. Top 5 or Top 10 in basically every batting category. However I had to laugh at the 3 names ahead of him in the NL batting average race. Martin Prado (Pretty mediocre player overall; but solid) Aledmyz Diaz (*** - Of course he plays for the Cardinals; he also leads the league in OPS as a SS. Frickin ridiculous) Daniel Murphy - (See Prado)
  11. If people think that starting in 2017 we can start to ascend again I gotta believe that would require a significant starting pitcher signing or trade. With Phillips and Arcia I think the offense can be good enough the pitching simply has a very long way to go. Assuming Hader is solid you have Nelson, Hader and ? Lopez and Jungmann have both flamed out so far. The more likely scenario is we play 2017 with Hader, Arcia, and Phillips for all or a significant portion of the year. If they show enough potential and the team does well enough then Stearns will make some moves Winter 2017. In addition to Nelson and Hader we need at least 1 more cost controlled minor leaguer to break through. So someone out of the Lopez, Mederios, Ponce, Devin Williams group is going to have the break out if we hope to compete in 2018. You can't buy 3/5ths of your starting rotation.
  12. If Braun is hitting 350 and OPS's around 1.000 no one here thinks there will be some team out there at the trade deadline that would jump all over that? I really think there would be a lot of interest. I don't get this whole bad contract thing; his contract is far from a bad contract and many teams could easily absorb it.
  13. 14 strikeouts in 7 innings without overpowering stuff is awfully impressive. He atleast is in the radar screen now and worth a special look at the Link Report when he pitches. Harrison and Arcia both with very good nights. BC continues to be completely depressing. I just don't get it. Regardless of how bad that park is and how bad the league is overall against hitters the pure terrible numbers being put up are mind boggling. Its not like there is no talent there. I am genuinely concerned that there is a coaching issue or something else going on because year in and year out the team is terrible. I am a little scared to see how the current Helena and Wisconsin roster would fare next year. Even the best pitching prospect we have in BC is absolutely terrible right now. 3-16, my goodness.
  14. Lopez has been pretty terrible; that is the obvious disappointment at AAAA. I don't know what is peripherals look like but ERA, WHIP, H/9, BB/9 are all horrific. At least his K/9 is still up there. If he were performing better he probably would be banging on the Milwaukee door right now. Guerra is the only pitcher that would even remotely deserve a shot right now.
  15. If we don't win this game we probably get swept; so go Jimmy. Over / under on runs against Arrieta tomorrow is set at 1. 1.5 if the wind is blowing out.
  16. If the Brewers keep sucking but Braun (Or really anyone else) is in contention for a batting crown, MVP, etc I imagine that has some small effect on attendance. If there is any marquee player that might draw in the average fan it probably still his Braun. Chicks dig the long ball but the average fan still doesn't know who Chris Carter is.
  17. I heard he was basically forced to choose as Wojo wouldn't let him keep his scholarship while also trying to train for the Olympics. I think the whole Wally chose track thing is more of a smoke screen than anything. If Henry stuck around Wojo would have been more than happy to let Wally take a break from training with the team in order to try to make the Olympics.
  18. Wally Ellenson got creaned by Marquette. Now that Henry moved on apparently Wojo has no use for his brother anymore. It looks like a pretty sad situation with Marquette looking bad and the Ellenson family looking a little weird as well. It would look worse if Wally wasn't getting a track & field scholarship. Regardless it was pretty obvious Wojo used the Wally scholarship to get Henry and Wally simply wasn't a good enough player. All of this and the team didn't even translate it to a NCAA tourney bid. If you pull carp like that you better win; Wojo better start showing some progress in the next couple of years.
  19. Segura is off to a pretty good start and Wagner had one good outing. Meanwhile Gomez has been pretty terrible, Davis has been pretty terrible, and outside of the no-hitter last year Fiers has been average at best. It may be frustrating to see Segura figure it out all of a sudden but in the overall pictures I think the Brewers made out pretty good from all those trades.
  20. Both are probably going to be Top 20 picks; hard to fault them for leaving if they aren't necessarily ready. They would be best served going to a veteran team and be allowed to sit and develop for a year or two. But of course if you are going Top 20 your 1st round pick is generally expected to contribute right away
  21. If we are going to have a disgruntled MCW we might as not have him at all. Giannis is the PG and Ennis is basically his backup so there isn't much room for another PG anyways. Especially one that can't shoot. I have seen a lot of Jacob Poetl rumors going to the Bucks. If he turns out nearly as good as the last international big guy we took from Utah I would be happy. Poetl is still pretty raw though.
  22. There is nothing worse than working on a project for 2-3 days only to see it thrown to the dogs before it even sees the light of day. Frickin frustrating.
  23. Segura has also hit around .200 over the last week so yeah he is already coming back down to earth. He also still has only 2 walks.
  24. Brewers have 3 of the Top 11 in the NL for OPS. Two make some sense; not so much the 3rd. If Carter can even remotely keep up this production he will be the steal of the offseason. With his slugging if he can just keep the OBP above 300 or so he should be considered incredibly valuable. He is not going to OPS 970 for the entire year but even 850 would be a hell of a steal for what we are paying him. Also Braun is on fire right now
  25. If Hill is going to play can Counsell at least move him down in the order a bit. I know Rivera and Flores aren't Mantle or DiMaggio out there but Hill is just not worthy of hitting in an important spot in the lineup. Carter should be getting walked every time.
