  1. I don't like the rule change at all. I don't understand why they felt a need to change the rule. It really wasn't all the controversial and they arguably made the situation even worse. Probably 99% of the time umpires get the call right; its pretty obvious when you catch it and only fumble it around afterwards. I suppose it is a rule change to bring more offense into the game; since I imagine this is most often applied to double play balls.
  2. Can't win them all I guess. Still sucks anytime we lose to the Cards though. At least the bullpen has continued to impress and Wang even managed to not torpedo the entire season by pitching
  3. Nice not seeing Molina in there for Game #1. The offense for STL has been a little underwhelming thus far but they have the talent to put up big run totals if you pitch like crap. It would be nice to win the first one. Cards seem to have our number lately. We miss Wainright and Wacha which is pretty nice. They miss Gallardo and Lohse; but its not like those guys are better than our 3-5 pitchers anyways
  4. I am trying to keep my expectations grounded for the 3 big power threats we have in the minors; Coulter, Roache, and Denson. All three have their warts so I would love if we could hit it big with even 1. Coulter might be the best bet.
  5. And I am wholly unimpressed with the Pirates. Their offense is simply average at best and with the loss of Burnett I think their pitching is not nearly what it was last year either. If Liriano or Cole ever run into injury problems that team is in trouble. Volquez surely isn't going to keep pitching that well. What the heck is going on with the Reds? Hamilton has been awful as the CF but there entire team in general has not been playing well the first 2 weeks
  6. I do tend to spy on other teams message boards while we are playing; especially if we are playing good. Most message boards out there are filled with blowhards that make reading their threads rather funny. I don't really care what they think about the Brewers one way or another; I just spy for the entertainment value. We are pretty spoiled on this board as it is usually civil; that is a rarity.
  7. Well I look forward to Garza's start tonight if he is going to try and beat Lohse. Yesterday was easily the best start of the young season by the Brewers. The great start by the big league club and pretty strong starts by several AAA pitchers makes me extremely comfortable with the high level organizational pitching. It is really hard to find a glaring hole in the team right now. Everything is clicking. Perhaps the biggest issue is depth on the offensive side but we haven't needed to be worried about that yet.
  8. I don't think this is a fluke but its not like they can keep this up either. This team looks like it can win 90 games if you ask me; not considering injuries.
  9. While the team ERA can't possibly stay at sub 2.00 as it is now; this start does make me optimistic they can at least be top 5 in the NL Winnings on days when you didn't play all that well is pretty nice too. I really wish I had bet the over on the Brewers before the season started. Only 11 games in but that seems like easy money now
  10. Well apparently Kintzler is going on the DL with some sort of strain. Interesting to see if they replace him with another bullpen arm or if they bring a bat up and actually use Wang.
  11. The one mistake aside; that is a pretty darn nice 5th starter
  12. Much better start for Bradley today. Jungmann has also had a solid start to the year. Ho hum Taylor has a couple hits; Denson also with his first HR.
  13. All I meant is Thornburg has been so great out of the pen so far why mess when something is working. It would be different if we didn't have anyone in AAA to bring in; but we certainly have guys hat could easily step into t a 5th starter role if need be with Nelson probably at the top of the list. Obviously in 2015 you re-evaluate everything but for 2014 I absolutely would just leave him in the pen and work the important 8th and 9th innings.
  14. He is such an asset to the bullpen right now; glad they decided to keep him up here rather than stretched out at AAA. There doesn't appear to be a long term rotation spot opening up anytime soon (2014 or 2015) so it appears he is now a permanent bullpen guy. If someone in the rotation goes down I think it is probably very likely they go to AAA rather than trying to fill the gap with Smith and Thornburg. They have been so good in the bullpen you have to leave them there.
  15. Hopefully Lohse can make it through this inning and RR gives Wang a chance in the 6th. Just have a guy up and ready in case he doesn't start out well.
  16. Getting squeezed too. If the ump isn't going to give the corners to someone like Lohse it could be a long game.
  17. Reynolds comes through with an RBI single. And now Gennett gets on as well. Clear the pitcher at least
  18. Those same guys also all projected the Brewers 4th. They just want to looks smart with these "Watch Out For" proclamations just in case the Brewers are actually good. Nothing happened in the first week of the season that should have changed anyone's mind dramatically about the team.
  19. Why do I seem to recall the Crew beating the tar out of Kendrick on multiple occasions? Might be my imagination. I always love day baseball; makes the afternoon at work go a lot faster. I really do like that lineup. If Davis continues hitting well I might want to flip Lucroy and Davis but that is probably nitpicking.
