  1. Based on how Herrera has played so far and just the overall mediocrity of Bianchi I would definitely be in favor of keeping Herrera even if it means completely losing out on Bianchi. The fact that Herrera plays the OF could make it easier to field two platoons at 2nd and 1st. I would be very surpised if they didn't break camp with a 5 man bench. Gennett, Francisco, Herrera, Maldonado, and Schafer looks like the bench as of right now.
  2. I agree they are locked in a two with a Nebraska win. But even if they lose the crappy play by Duke and Syracuse lately really opens the door for them to stay a #2 no matter what. So long as they win at least one game I think they should be a #2. Most lists that I have seen have them being the highest or 2nd highes 2 seed already.
  3. How many awards should be given back from 1990 to 2005? I would guess a ton. Giving back the award wouldn't do anything to change the situation
  4. The pitches are always screwed up on Gameday. They aren't correct. Braun is still good without the juice apparently
  5. A Purdue win would have been nice last night. Big Dog Jr made a tough shot.
  6. It is pretty ridiculous that he actually intended this team to make the playoffs. That was the plan. The fact that it has failed so badly really should cost him his job but it won't. I mean the GM of the Milwaukee Bucks thought this team was good enough to make the playoffs and right now they have the worst record in the league by 4 games. If that isn't an indictment on his capabilities as a GM I don't know what would be.
  7. When considering MILB and MLB rosters 3rd base is obviously the most glaring weakness. Whlie our MILB depth isn't great at certain positions we have those positions locked with good young players at Milwaukee. But we really need a future 3rd basemen and 1st basemen in the minor league system. I like Denson at 1st base but he is atleast 2+ years away. Delmonico does nothing for me at 3rd. With our SP depth I feel pretty comfortable about our starters in MIL for the next couple years. Hopefully by then some of the younger guys will have developed into solid to great prospects. When you think about LF, CF, RF, SS, 2B, C are all more or less spoken for at MIL for the next several years. Our rotation has more than enough depth at MLB and AAA to field decent units for the next couple years. Melvin just needs to somehow find that 1st basemen and 3rd basemen to fill those glaring organization holes. But you sure as heck don't reach for those positions in the upcoming draft. You take the best available player period.
  8. Philly is mega bad. I mean if the Bucks beat them like that who are they really going to beat? It probably will at least get a lot tighter than the 4 game cushion now. It really all depends on who comes out. If Parker, Embiid, and Wiggins all come out then along with Exum there is your Top #4. Randle is #5 but perhaps not quite on the same level. Even if you have the 2nd worst record you are very likely to still end up in the Top #4. The likelihood that the ping pong balls will reward 3 teams other than MIL and PHI is probably pretty unlikely. Those two teams have 44.9% of the total ping pong balls.
  9. Anyone who thinks Braun is only going to hit .273 is kidding themselves. 25 Hrs and 100 RBI's are pretty safe assumptions I would think. If Ryan hits anything less than .285 I would be suprised. A 950+ OPS certainly isn't out of the question
  10. Personally I think Florida and Wichita St are probably locks for #1's. I don't see Wichita St losing and Florida has been really strong. I would say Kansas will end up as a #1 as well although that one is a little more in doubt. So the last #1 would be up to Syracuse, Duke, Wisconsin, Arizona, Virginia, St Louis, Villanova, Michigan. Odds probably aren't good that UW comes out on top of that group. I would feel much more comfortable calling them a #2.
  11. I always get so impatient this time of year expecting the weather to improve so much when the calendar flips over to March. This year is especially bad because I have a feeling I will still be waiting for even decent weather come April 1st. My two little girls are so ancy to get outside to the park and play; it is driving the whole family crazy being stuck inside.
  12. I would definitely be OK being in the Syracuse bracket. Other than Wichita St, Syracuse is the other #1 I would most like our match up against. With UW's remaining schedule I think they should be a lock for a #2/#3 seed and will very likely be in Milwaukee opening weekend. If they end up as a #2 I just don't see them not making the 2nd weekend but I guess you never know. This UW team is as loaded as it has ever been; if Brust ever gets his shot back this team could go a really long ways. The keys will still be Dekker and Kaminsky. If they keep playing like they have the last couple weeks than watch out
  13. Lousville was the favorite going into the tourney last year for sure. We still have two weeks of regular season and conference tourney week yet to figure out who the favorites are. I believe Kansas and Florida will be the two sexy picks right away but there are probably 10-12 teams that could win the whole thing including Wisconsin. Odds aren't good that UW could win but it is not impossible. They have just a ton of good wins. How good are those St Louis and Virginia wins looking right now? Lunardi has both MSU and UW playing in MIL the first two rounds. Middle Tennesee St in round #1 and winner of St Johns and Uconn in Round #2. We would also be in Wichita State's bracket along with St Louis & Kansas. I would love that bracket if it weren't for Kansas. I think Lunardi is bat crazy if he thinks Kansas isn't getting a #1 seed
  14. Badgers are much closer to a 2 than a 4 at this point. I want no part of Michigan St or Florida in the NCAA tourney. MSU because every stupid year they manage to start playing like they are suppose to in March. And I wouldn't like our rematch against a fully healthy Florida team. That being said UW is capable of beating any team in the tourney. It is really wide open this year; certainly no clear favorite. All of the top teams have been playing pretty crappy lately except for Kansas.
  15. I will 3rd that on Denson. My own internal hype for him is probably completely unjustified at this point and my expectations are probably too high but he seems like a young kid that could make the Brewers look pretty smart. Average wasn't there last year but he took his walks and showed is power. Plus I love his size for first base. He seems like a taller version of Fielder.
  16. If I were Braun I wouldn't come until the last possible moment. Miight as well let the rest of the team have as much normalcy as possible before the media goes all crazy covering Braun. If a player is fighting for a job at all they better have been here already; I don't have any issue letting the veterans secure with jobs come only when required.
  17. Well the Bucks traded Neal and Ridnour for Ramon Sessions and Jeff Adrien. It is probably a lateral move at best that saves them some money. Sessions is certainly a servicable backup.
  18. Western and Northern WI looks to be getting a lot of snow but the SE will see mostly rain and freezing rain. I am not so much depressed by the storm tomorrow than I am the forecasted highs in the teens all of next week. We certainly aren't on a warming trend yet. I wish I wasn't stuck inside working today because it is glorious outside.
  19. It is a two way street. Maybe Segura simply doesn't want to sign an extension unless it is for an outrageous sum. It could just be another Fielder situation. I am sure Melvin will offer something that will buy out a year or two but the player ultimately has to want to do it. He apparently didn't want to do that last year; I don't know that things have changed now unless DM increased the offer from last time. I am all for locking up young players but not at any cost.
  20. Perhaps he should find a new doctor for the 3rd surgery. He probably didn't make enough money to retire either; welcome to the work force Mat!!
  21. So the trade deadline is two days away. I am really hoping Hammond can make a couple deals. He shoul be selling Neal, Butler, Ersan, Mayo, even Zaza to anyone and everyone. Henson, Giannis, and Sanders are probably the only untouchables and Sanders only because he is basically untradeable. I would be inclined to hang on to Knight as well. I am not expecting high 1st round picks or anything but I could see some contenders who will pick in that 20-30 range giving that pick up to hopefully get them the one playey they need.
  22. My guess is that nothing gets done and I am OK with that. Lets see how the kid does in Year #2. Yes is price will probably go up from here but there will also be less risk involved after seeing him perform for another year. Hopefully after 2014 DM can look at extending both Segura and Peralta with good years behind them. I am just a little too nervous about the 2nd half drop in performance for Segura to be totally on board with an extension right now. Hopefully he just wore down but why even take the risk that he simply outperformed his long term potential in the 1st half?
  23. I am mainly interested in the Arizona guys from last year. Denson, Williams, and Neuhaus are all high upside guys and I hope they take off this year. Would like to see them in Helena but who knows. Also Jorge Lopez is definitely high on my list; he also should be considered a high upside guy and will be very young for High A. If he can put it together he instandtly becomes a highly prized prospect. He has the stuff.
  24. This is going to be a huge win today. Beating Iowa next week would be gravy. Another nice win to add their resume. Florida, Virginia, and St Louis have all played really well which has helped the cause. I don't know how this team can beat MINN, MSU, and MICH in 10 days and lose to NW at home.
  25. After the next two games the Badgers hopefully can coast into the tounrey; their last 4 or 5 games aren't exactly hard. I hope they can win won of the next two. If they can do that I think they are a solid 4 with a chance at a 3 if everything breaks right.
