  1. For as good as the top of the B10 is; there are some truly awful bottom feeders this year. Penn State, NW, and Nebraska are all atrocious and from what I hear we should expect the same from Purdue coming up shortly. With Indiana's loss yesterday it isn't inconcievable that UW could atleast tie for the conference title; but they are going to need to beat Michigan State on the road to it. They are probably assured of being a Top 4 seed in the B10 tourney though.
  2. The good news is the 10 day forecast doesn't show even the faintest chance for snow. I hope that holds up. I am ready for winter to be over for sure. Its snowing again in FDL; weather channel says we have gotten around 3 inches but it seems like way more than that.
  3. I don't think there is anyway they are going to let Jennings walk. They will match any offer he gets which will probably be way to much. So next year they will have Jennings, Ersan, and Sanders locked into 3 starting spots most likely. Not a bad 3 to build around but pretty darn expensive once Sanders gets paid. I suppose you could plug in Henson at the 4? Thus they really need a SG and still have no Guard depth. Redick wouldn't be a bad sign but it looks like they are going to have some cap issues if they want to keep Jennings, Redick, Ersan, and a soon to be wealthy Sanders. Jennings, Redick, Ersan, Henson, and Sanders wouldn't be the worst starting 5 in the league but they still won't be any better than a 3-6 seed in the East and they still would have virtually no depth in case of injuries. I think the upside of this team is pretty limited but they have a monstrous downside. With all the FA this offseason, it is going to be make or break time for Hammond. The timing of his extension still makes no sense to me.
  4. Braun took a test immediately in the fall of 2011 after he got his positive test back. I assume that came back negative but that apparently wasn't newsworthy and in no way affected his guilt
  5. What I meant was guys that can throw harder can get away with more mistake pitches within the strike zone. Of course they can walk a guy; but if you throw 95 you can get away with a misplaced fastball within the strikezone more than a guy that throws 88. Doesn't matter who hard you throw, anyone is capable is walking a ton of guys. I want guys that can mis bats within the strike zone and it would seem to me hard throwers probably have better odds at that. I am by no means a statistical genious though and have nothing to back up the claim that hard throwers get more swing and misses than soft tossers within the strike zone.
  6. He could thrive in Milwaukee's system next year and it wouldn't have cost us anything but the contract. Since they did it now they are taking a gamble that Harris or Lamb don't turn into anything. If they do amount to even serviceable players they basically just gave them away for free. Plus they were still young and cheap. And I still don't understand the ultimate goal; Redick might win you an extra game or two this year but you still have no chance in the playoffs and you now have even more unanswered questions going into 2013-2014. You are going to go into next year with another mediocre draft slot, no guard depth whatsoever, and way too many forwards. The roster makeup just sucks. They are now forced to pay Jennings whatever the heck he wants. If somehow Redick, Ellis, and Jennings are all gone this team would be brutal and Kohl would never allow that. They are going to back up the truck to both Jennings and Redick and they will be mediocre in perpetuity. Hammond is still living off the Salmons deal from a couple years ago when the Bucks got hot and almost got out of the first round. I am still not sure how that one season was enough for Hammond to get an extension. He has been good enough to finish 8-10 in the East, congratulations.
  7. I will say this though; if ATl hadn't back out at the last minute on the Smith deal; MIL would have have a pretty darn good team the rest of the year. If they could have gotten up to a 5-6 seed they definitely could have done some damage in the playoffs. The ramifications of that deal on 2014 and beyond probably wouldn't have been very good though.
  8. The point isn't that those guys aren't getting any PT now; the point is that they are both awfully young and trading them for 3 months of Redick who you could have gotten this offseason anyways seems shortsighted. Harris did show some promise this year and we have virtually no Guard depth signed for next year with Lamb gone. Is the extra win or two redick might bring this year really worth the potential of Harris and Lamb. Not to me it isnt
  9. Trust Me; you won't be disappointed. I don't like the trade but I am nothing more than a casual fan. The people that actually care want to stone him for giving up on Harris and Lamb so quickly and for not getting Josh Smith. This deal would make much more sense if Ellis wasn't still here
  10. It sure seems that they are going to have a lot of holes to fill next year. They have virtually no guards signed beyond this year. Hammond giving up on Lamb and Harris so quickly for a short term improvement in Redick that likely won't get MIL out of the 1st round anyways seems rather shortsighted.
  11. Where is Redick actually going to play with Jennings and Ellis still here? Also disappointed with Harris and Lamb. I guess if Hammond feels he isn't going to develop that he might as well get something for him while he can. Harris now joins Yi & Alexander as recent 1st round picks who didn't even last 2 seasons with the Bucks. Not good that we have recognized failed picks so much and cut losses. They got Redick for some spare parts this year so the team going forward should be better; just not sure how the playing time is going to work.
  12. The more flamethrowers we can find the better. They have so much margin for error if they don't have there good stuff. The guy had an incredibly year last year in the minors; I sure hope we found a hidden gem here.
  13. Is Devin Harris still useful or is that just a throw in? I do wonder if the two losses out of the break have changed the strategy at all; they are no under .500. At this point it really only makes sense to trade unless you can get someone you can control beyond this year. I guess it depends on how confident Hammond would be in resigning Smith. Jennings, Smith, Ersan, Sanders, and competent SG wouldn't be a bad team going forward but I still wouldn't considerate anywhere near Champioship calibur unless they find someway to get a stud SG. I don't think Redick fits that bill.
  14. I don't see how that would be possible unless some draft picks were included. Unless you could resign both Smith and Jennings I wouldn't be comfortable with trading 1st round draft picks to get Smith. I don't have a clue on the NBA salary cap so I have no idea if that is even possible. Resigning Smith who would be unrestricted seems awfully unlikely when he could get some big offers from bigger markets. I think a Smith trade still seems pretty unlikely You still have a glut of forwards if you get Smith so I have to imagine someone would get shipped to ATL. Henson, Harris, Luc Richard would all be possibilties.
  15. I have an irrational hatred for MSU; so I am taking IU against my better judgment. I guess it probably isn't an irrational hatred. Mateen Cleaves can kiss my behind. I know most other fans can't stand Bo; but I can't stand Izzo either.
  16. So to recap some recent rumors: For some reason we want to trade Luc Richard and a 1st round pick for JJ freakin Reddick. Then we want to trade Ellis straight up for Josh Smith. Someone please tell me how this makes any sense at all. Both Reddick and Smith are free agents after the year. Granted the team would probably be better this year; but they absolutely could not keep both of those guys and Brandon Jennings next year; and on top of that give up there 1st round pick. I don't get it.
  17. So you throw a max deal at Smith, then what? You already lost Ellis and you probably can't afford a Jennings contract anymore. Now they have no way to fill glaring holes at PG and SG and they have about 18 SF/PF. It would be a terrible roster make up.
  18. If anything the Bucks should be trading Jennings or Ellis for picks; not trading there own for the chance to somehow make the 2nd round of the playoffs. I wouldn't like Smith or Reddick at all. In general I don't think I would be in favor of MIL being in buying mode at all.
  19. Way more than we were supposed to get. I had a solid 3-4 inches at my house in FDL.
  20. If they can trust Segura to be an everday SS without having ever played at AAA; why is it so inconcievable that they could bring up Morris for 1-2 months without having ever played AAA? If that is the argument against bringing him up; then that is pretty weak. Play the best player you have and that is almost certainly not Gonzalez or Crosby. It should be Halton or Morris
  21. All this bad news is making it really hard to get excited for the upcoming season. And that doesn't even include the fact that the Brewers are actually voluntarily putting out an extremely young and risky starting rotation. For the first time in a really long time I can't get myself pumped. Way to many question marks between Braun, 1B, SP, and the bullpen for me to convince myself they will have a good year.
  22. UW better just take care of business against NW, Purdue, Penn State, and Nebraska and then hope you can steal one at MSU. I really don't see them finishing any worse than 4th with that remaining schedule. Bo's streak will continue
  23. This "storm" is turning into a major flame out; now it is down to 3-5. So why exactly the NWS got my hopes up for a big storm is anyone's guess. The storm was still up near Alaska when they were predicting 6-12 or more.
  24. Frankly I don't think I even care if he did it anymore. 90% of people outside if WI thinks he is a cheater; probably about 50/50 in WI. As long as he produces and leads to winning baseball I don't really care. He proved last year either that he never used it or that he probably never needed it in the first place. Or of course that he just knows how to not get caught. I don't idolize any player in any sport enough to to be offended if they doesn't win another MVP or doesn't make the HOF.
  25. The website I look at has already downgraded it saying it has weakened. Still likely to get snow but not nearly as much. I suppose that could change again.
