  1. Was looking at some upgrades for my fantasy baseball team tonight and read this note on Fuentes (from Rotowire): It's pretty obvious that Grant Balfour and Joey Devine's return to health have effectively buried Fuentes in the A's bullpen, as he's not even being use as a lefty specialist in the late innings either. He could be an attractive trade target for a contending team looking for some left-handed late inning help, so you may want to hold onto him another week if your league rewards holds. If he's in Oakland beyond the trade deadline, there's not much to like for the final two months. Worth kicking the tires on? He's actually been worse against LH batters this season than righties, but for his career is .621 OPS against.
  2. Under this scenario, I'd just as soon have Green play 3B and deal Gamel, since you're getting power numbers from Swisher anyway.
  3. We had used almost everybody? At that point in the game the Brewers had used two pitchers - Greinke and Hawkins.
  4. I'm done with RR. Letting Loe pitch to Helton was indefensible. ----- Continued from: viewtopic.php?p=703250#p703250 Original Lead: viewtopic.php?t=24967
  5. Jesus... I didn't even read the rest of the article....nor the byline in the Deadspin post that said "It isn't true, but it should be." Just saw something about Fetters/Miller Park and rolled with it. http://deadspin.com/58218...tsburghs-really-in-first http://saynsumthn.files.wordpress.com/2010/01/ashamed.jpg
  6. Saw this linked on Deadspin. Apparently, Fetters is walking around Miller Park with a cast-iron skillet, frying eggs for people and letting them dunk things into his "cheese tank"? Awesome. Can anyone corroborate this story? http://www.theawl.com/201...f-the-major-league-parks
  7. Pretty good haul. Still think I would take the money, and then buy 4 suite tickets for every remaining home game, 3 signed jerseys, 3 signed balls and 3 signed bats. And a boat. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  8. I thought this was a Johnny thread. Edit: As far as Marco goes, he gives up way too many HR in key situations. Tonight, against the Cubs, letting the Marlins back into a game, etc. Annoying. I refuse to appreciate him.
  9. A huge milestone ball like Jeter's 3000, there's no question I'm selling it to the highest bidder. The opportunity cost is just too much. I could do a lot with $250K. A smaller milestone - say, Fielder's 200 HR - I would probably take a package from the team...some nice tickets, memorabilia, etc.
  10. http://brewersbeat.mlblog...raded-back-to-the-yanks/ So, to recap, we rented Mitre for 30 innings and gave Chris Dickerson to the Yankees (forcing us to employ Mark Kotsay) in return for a couple hundred thousand dollars. To quote Bill Simmons, I will now light myself on fire.
  11. Even if that were the case, we wouldn't be justified in correlating this with Casey's performance until Fangraphs introduces a "Marital Strength" metric.
  12. Maybe he shouldn't have detailed in book form how he operates and composes his team? Joe...is that you? http://apps.startribune.com/blogs/user_images/randmid_1285867435_joemorgan.jpg
  13. Yep...looks like another one for me to bail on. I have better ways to spend my Sunday afternoon.
  14. I can think of one famous baseball movie about a rags-to-riches team where the climax is a division-clinching win vs. New York....we never even find out what happened to them in the playoffs. http://content7.flixster.com/photo/11/93/16/11931625_gal.jpg Now admittedly, that was a comedy, but the point remains that you don't necessarily have to focus on the postseason to create a compelling story arc.
  15. Pacific time can be equally annoying. It sounds good in theory, but I get off work at 5pm and the Brewers game starts right away. I'd like a couple of hours to decompress, maybe run a few errands or go to the gym. (Before anyone suggests DVR/joining the game late...it just isn't the same. Klosterman wrote an article this week for Grantland about this - I have to watch games live or it isn't fun.) Plus you have the 9am/10am starts during football season. I think we all can agree that Central time is the best time.
  16. All I wanted to do when I got off work tonight was have a few beers and watch the game (on the West Coast). Maybe I'll watch a movie instead. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  17. @AndrewGruman: "Roenicke says Zach Braddock has been showing up late and he needs to go down there and balance his issues with baseball." What the hell, man....
  18. "Concerned" would be putting it lightly. I picked the wrong season to quit sniffing glue.
  19. In what world does Marco Estrada profile as a setup guy? Ahead of Hawkins, Braddock...even Dillard? WANT TO SMASH.
  20. The Rangers have to do this right now, so precedence is already there. Also, from 1969-1992 the NL West consisted of: Atlanta (!) Cincinnati Houston Los Angeles San Diego San Francisco So there is already precedence for the Astros.
  21. I think an ideal scenario would be to move Colorado to the AL West, and Houston to the NL West. Travel wouldn't be too bad for the Astros, since Phoenix and LA/San Diego are all in the southern half of the United States....the only long trip would be San Francisco.
  22. Guaranteed that TLR or Carpenter will say something about it after the game.
  23. I really like this idea (a variation of it has been posted here before). I'm a big fan of playing every team in the other league at least once, simply because I think it enhances the marketability of the sport. If you're a kid living in Milwaukee and you like the NBA, you can count on being able to watch your team play against Kobe Bryant, Blake Griffin, etc. every season. Meanwhile, in MLB, you can go 3-4 years between playing an opponent from the AL, depending on the whims of the schedule.
  24. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milwaukee_Wave He said "top-flight", and he also said "soccer". This is like telling a basketball fan to go watch the And 1 Mixtape tour.
