  1. Dumb, dumb, dumb. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif
  2. One advantage of eliminating the DH would be not having to see baserunners wearing the dopey warmup jacket. http://si.wsj.net/public/resources/images/PJ-AX691_SP_FEA_D_20101027171850.jpg I remember seeing Suppan call for the jacket when the temperature was in the mid-50s....infuriating.
  3. Everyone in the major leagues is very good at baseball. There are 800 people who get to do that in a country of 300 million.
  4. I was luck enough to have tickets behind the Lakers bench during a Bucks-Lakers game during the Kobe-Shaq era. 1) It was awesome....you don't realize how enormous Shaq is until you're 10 feet away from him. Basketball is a different environment, but I wouldn't want to deprive a young fan of seeing these superstars. 2) I guarantee that the Bucks sold more tickets for that game than they did playing "conference foes" like Atlanta, Toronto and Cleveland (this was pre-LeBron).
  5. I actually really like the white-panel hats that the Brewers wore on July 4 this year. If they used a regular Brewers logo (instead of the stars-and-stripes logo for the holiday), I could see this being a really cool uniform! http://www.dlcache.indiatimes.com/imageserve/0gRX33W8ZS38P/350x.jpg
  6. I really hope they expand interleague play. Play every team in the other league (home OR away) for one series = 45 games. Baseball is in a good spot, but they need to market the sport better to kids in order to sustain it. Part of that would be knowing that their Brewers would be playing the likes of Felix Hernandez, Evan Longoria, et al every year, and playing them at Miller Park at least once every two years.
  7. Good lord! Check out some of the quotes from that article: Mind-boggling.
  8. I would probably cry a lot, and wipe the tears away with the $100 bills I use as Kleenex. Let's remember that this stuff goes on all the time. Somebody was the first company to release a VHS player 30 years ago, too.

  10. So when is an appropriate time for that? It really doesn't matter when Prince does that as I prefer the team being loose than playing tight like you are suggesting they should be remember in baseball you can't have fun at all no matter what. You are losing in a playoff game you better not smile because hey you have to be serious 100% of the time there is no fun in baseball! Not the 9th inning of a playoff game. And I'm not suggesting that they "play tight". I'm suggesting that they take the 9th inning of a playoff game when they're down 1 run seriously. But thanks for putting a whole bunch of words in my mouth. For the record, I don't think it's a huge deal. Just a mild annoyance. I had the exact opposite feeling. When the Brewers are losing, especially in a big ballgame, I get down in the dumps, angry, frustrated - completely pessimistic and expecting to lose. To see Fielder being able to laugh and goof around in the dugout at the end of Game 3 made me more confident that the Brewers would turn it around, because it helped me realize that the players are way better at dealing with the bad times than I am. They totally trust in themselves. I would prefer that they keep doing exactly what they're doing and have fun, no matter when this season ends.
  11. They are staying at the Pfister. Friend of mine was at a wedding there last night and saw the Cards arriving when he was grabbing a drink at the bar.
  12. "Your ideas are intriguing to me, and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter."
  13. How important is this to the average pro athlete, though? Latrell Sprewell earned $97 million over the course of his career and he can barely take care of 1 generation. To be clear, I understand that Prince's situation is a little different because of Cecil. Just saying that if I win $100 mil in the lottery, I'm thinking less about sending my great-grandson to college in the year 2075 and more about buying my own island.
  14. Can't wait for that first losing streak of 2012. Reinsdorf: "VENTURA..." Robin V: "Yes, Satan?" http://28.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_ks9hukT6a21qzhiqwo1_500.png
  15. Well, for what it's worth, Marcum had this to say after the game: "I felt great today," Marcum insisted. "I actually felt better than I have for the last month or so. I'm a location guy. If I miss location I'm going to get hit and that happened today." http://www.jsonline.com/s...s/brewers/131111288.html
  16. I take it that you've never gotten the hard sell from a kid selling a $4 box of candy for 'basketball'. I suppose that we should just gladly pay that as well, because the Brewers are in the playoffs. If you don't want the candy, tell the kid to take a hike. Problem solved.
  17. Think I'll trust the Brewers' beat writers on this one.
  18. Huh? He had one bad start on September 1st. Otherwise he has been outstanding for the last month and a half. No, he's been homer prone all month. Its why his FIP is 4.32 to go along with his 4.35 ERA. Now that's far from terrible but its below average. I'm convinced that you are secretly Jason Whitlock, seeding message boards with inflexible (and sometimes ridiculous) stat-driven opinions to further his agenda.
  19. I absolutely hate the Dodgers. Complete garbage.
  20. I hate it when directors do this in sports movies. The absolute worst example was "The Fan" with Wesley Snipes and Robert DeNiro - the final game scene seems to take place in a pitch black stadium during a typhoon, yet the umpires have no problem with it. The game scenes in "Major League", by contrast, actually resemble what a baseball field looks like at night.
  21. Was at a wedding in Madison over the weekend, and flew home via MKE last night. Pleasantly surprised to find that they had Central Division champs t-shirts in the gift shops already, and made an impulse purchase.
  22. Yeah, I assume that's why bullox posted it as a "What's Bugging You?" topic. I was joking about the font.
  23. And how do they do that, exactly? Who is going to watch this "poseur playoff"? Hopefully you realize that the major conferences make the most money because their schools have the most alumni and fan support.
  24. Agreed, bullox. I'm a bit annoyed that they used the Blue Jays font circa 1993 for our division champions shirts. It's like twisting the knife. http://www.wholesaler-china.com/images/MLB%20A%20East/Jays-19-Molitor-1993-Home-Jersey-by-M-N.jpg
  25. I'll withhold judgment about this until I see the new uniforms. The logo by itself isn't enough to make me vote thumbs up or down.
