  1. Schubert is in for #12 - Medium.
  2. I'll be out of town the next two weekends, but feel free to organize a practice without me. There's a slight chance I could make a mid/late afternoon practice this upcoming Sunday (22nd), but other than that I'm out until May. Use this thread to organize the next practice as you wish....
  3. Medium - #13 (Just to clarify, no names on the back, correct?) I'll try to contact anyone not on your list. Thanks!!
  4. Needs more cowbell. I think this should clearly be the bat's theme song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkKXzdUeNMA
  5. Hate the bunting, especially after gaining 2-0 advantage. Love emptying the bench ... Worry about the 10th if you get there.
  6. In my leagues, I'm paying random homage to a San Diego Padre: (Three cheers for me) Captain Venable A fellow BF.Netter is using "Fix Maysonets!" for his team ... nice.
  7. The main softball page of the Milwaukee Rec site has a link to the following slideshow: http://www.milwaukeerecreation.net/adult-sports/softball/info/SB%20MANAGER'S%20MEETING.pdf I believe Page 4 has the bat testing info. I also double-checked with program supervisor via email this afternoon to make sure all this was accurate, even for our Social league.
  8. They come to the field, sometime in the first couple weeks of season, put stickers on the bats that pass. Once they've done the tests, only bats with stickers are allowed (in any weeks before they come out to do testing, it's a free for all). Someone wasn't listening too well at practice! Bats acquired during the season can be tested at the Rec Dept on certain evenings throughout the season.
  9. Fyi- looks like we might have to change location, lafollette pretty full.
  10. Sounds like nullbyte is in, drick is out, didn't hear back from Schubert. In other news, it's 1:00 and it's about 45 degrees outside. Weathermen can suck it, what a pathetic bit of forecasting to whiff so bad on today's weather. Practice is on, regardless....
  11. Sounds like at least four then. I'll contact nullbyte and drick.
  12. One of these years, Weeks will learn how to go back on a popup.
  13. Ugh, Ramirez. Gonna be a tough year(s) watching/ rooting/ tolerating/ stomaching that guy.
  14. Sounds like we've got three confirmed so far, Houlie, Al, and I. Hopefully between Drick and nullbyte we'll add a few more. Anyone else? I'll mention it to Schubert, he might not be checking the forum...
  15. I'm a moderator on the Softball forum (at least I think I am ... I was before the software switch), and on the old software I'm pretty sure I could revise subjects of threads started by other posters. This was really handy, but I'm not seeing the option to do this in the new software?
  16. How about 2:00 PM on Sunday? What's a location that's good for everyone? Lafollette park (92nd & Washington in West Allis) seemed to work well in the past ... I no longer live over there, but it's a good, central location in the metro area.
  17. (crickets) Sunday forecast is mid 70s? Looks quite a bit better than saturday, so I say we target that afternoon if we get enough people. Minimum five commits?
  18. I think the aquarium wall behind home plate is awesome, but the home run feature is clearly (to me) overdone. Sure, you picked "Marlins" as your team name to represent local wildlife the way many teams do, but do you really need a gaudy shrine to the animal that makes it look like Miami residents have an unhealthy complex with the fish?? Imagine the same display with bucks for our NBA team, I'd feel like I was at some binzarre deer-worshipping cult compound.
  19. (Somewhat copied from the Social Gathering thread...) Yeah, I felt bad letting some of these nice weekends go by without getting at least one practice in. I feel like I've been slacking this year to get a social gathering set up and get some practices going, but I guess it's just the odd arrival of summer here in March that's throwing things off. It looks like last year we didn't do our social gathering until April 22nd, and might not have had our first practice until April 30th. This upcoming weekend would work for me if anyone else is interested. Extended forecast is talking high 50s, so not as wonderful as the last 10 days, but still above normal and probably practice-worthy. I could do afternoon either day. By the way, Manager's Meeting tomorrow, so I should have more information about our season tomorrow (like schedule, etc).
  20. It's a good idea. I feel like I've been slacking this year to get a social gathering set up and get some practices going, but I guess it's just the odd arrival of summer here in March that's throwing things off. It looks like last year we didn't do our social gathering until April 22nd, and might not have had our first practice until April 30th. Social gathering after the Easter weekend? Do it some Saturday night when the Brewers are playing? Saturday the 15th they're on the road in Atlanta for an evening game, that might work? By the way, Manager's Meeting tomorrow, so I should have more information about our season tomorrow (like schedule, etc).
  21. Our fans choice tickets just arrived this afternoon.
  22. Can't vouch for it personally, but this one recently popped up on SlickDeals. Today is apparently the last day for the deal. Slickdeals: http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/71011/newegg-pioneer-vsx1121k-7.1channel-av-receiver?token=AAcBBQAAAAAGOj48DQ Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?SID=dixVHnEEEeGj8VLcST-z5A0&AID=10440897&PID=1225267&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-cables-_-na-_-na&Item=N82E16882117401
  23. And then they miss a call in our favor at the end at a critical time. Vandy fans probably very upset about that, but on balance the bad calls have likely evened out over the course of the game.
  24. Yeah, Badgers really getting hosed by the officials in that first half. That blocking foul that should have been a charge, a hack call on a clean block, and two blatant push-offs by Vandy that went uncalled. Should be up six or eight at the half instead of just one.
