  1. Agreed. It can be easy to criticize the big guy for defensive woes, the inability to throw home, etc, but one qualitative area you can't knock is his hustle. Throughout his career here he has pretty much always run hard every time. Bah, our winning ways is turning me into a softy....
  2. So huge when your number 5 hitter can cash in on braun and fielder getting base hits. Welcome back casey.
  3. I was just researching this same thing as I'm planning something for the night of the 30th -- I didn't find anything too concrete. I found that ESPN's MLB calendar of important dates shows playoffs starting Sep 30 / Oct 1. On the official MLB site, their calendar of important dates just shows a vague "October - Playoffs". Every team is done on the 28th unless there are important makeups or 1-game playoffs ... by looking at years past, even when there's been special 1-gamers, it looks pretty normal for the playoff schedule to kick off just two days later ... aka, the 30th. My guess is that two or three series will start on the 30th and one or two will start on the 1st. I'm scheduling my thing for the 30th anyways, hoping that if the Brewers make the playoffs and if they have home field, that the series will start on the 1st. Or at the very least, that the 30th won't be my one and only chance to see them in person in October this year.
  4. I'm no prince apologist and get super frustrated with his crappy throws, etc, but I think lucroy could have done better on that play. Jumped way more wildly than it looked like he needed to, then hesitated for some odd reason, then tagged high on the body instead of down at the feet on the plate.
  5. Roof still open? Just started pouring 3 miles west of stadium.
  6. I'm on Time Warner. Rebooting the box sometimes solves this issue, but not this time. Looks like its fuzzy standard def for me today, yay.
  7. Anyone else's FSN HD feed choppy? Every other channel is perfect, but FSN is choppy and unwatchable for me. It was like this the other day, too. Frustrating.
  8. FYI- Recorded message says no cancellations.
  9. Schubert is in, Porter is out. We're only at 10 if everyone else is in, including Al.
  10. In. I thought Beeks couldn't make it?
  11. Ugh, crap. Not to go all OT, but I assume Brewers don't offer refunds when game times change? The whole, "game time subject to change" disclaimer? My tickets are already bought, but 3:00 doesn't work....
  12. I'm in. Schubert says in. Porter says in.
  13. link? Also, I thought you said you turned 25 a couple nights ago. Burn!
  14. What about Emilio Bonifacio? I don't know much about him, but he seems to fit a Betemit-like profile as a switch hitter who gets playing time on the left side of the infield. Not good enough defensively at 3B/SS? Too much concern that his good offensive numbers this year (740 OPS) are bound to drop back to his career norms (650 OPS)? Too young and cheap for the Marlins to trade him away?
  15. A parked car has pretty good range if it is parked sideways. I knew someone would call me out. Couldn't think of anything else at the time. My favorite is "lighthouse", although technically that would cover the entire infield. "Kitchen appliance", perhaps.
  16. Things are looking bleak for filling our 10th spot. Firenick had a sub who fell through, Tim tried and couldn't get anyone this time, I think Houle has been trying but I haven't heard anything. Firenick says Jon is also on the hunt contacting people. I'll be away from a computer and have limited cell reception from now until game time....
  17. Porter out, Schubert in. We are one player short as of right now.
  18. IN. Too bad about Al, but the season is a week longer with that makup game on the 28th -- maybe by then. (If anyone missed it, I added the makeup game to our official schedule thread.)
  19. Firenick says Jon is in, we're at 10.
  20. Schubert is in. I'll ask firenick about Jon, that would put us at 10.
  21. I'm IN. I'm assuming Porter is still out, too. That puts us at eight. EDIT: Porter says he's in, so we should be at nine and only need one sub.
  22. We're without our top two pitchers on the depth chart. If Radman pitches, possibly this lineup: LC beeks SS (?) Houlie LF (?) Drick 3B Tyler 1B nullbyte 2B (?) valpo C (?) Jon RC (?) Happy P Radman RF (?) Ben (sub) If valpo pitches, possibly this lineup: LC beeks SS (?) Houlie LF (?) Drick 3B Tyler 1B nullbyte P valpo RC (?) Jon 2B (?) Happy C (?) Radman RF (?) Ben (sub)
  23. Happy Youngster! That pumps me up. Thanks for coming through Tim and Houle, huge help.
  24. Jon is in, per confirmation through Firenick. Al is now out because of an injury. So, we're short two ... looking for TWO subs. Tim, when will you know if your probably is a sure thing?
