  1. Buehrle's gem of a start today (7 ER in 1.2 IP) was just the start my fantasy team needed....
  2. That's awesome!! Please, please let them keep it for the regular season.
  3. Brian's post on page 1 sums up what my feelings have been this whole time. I really like the idea of everyone settling into a defensive groove with TGJ in center. Then when Cameron comes back, there's no major disruption to the defensive makeup while the offense gets a nice little boost. Every option for CF has pros and cons, and I don't think anyone's pros outweigh the benefit the team will get for creating a defensive-minded environment right from the start.
  4. Yost just makes it so easy to hate him. It's like he seeks out opportunities to be a rebel and go against common sense. I'm not even sure Bill Hall's mom would bat him in front of Hart. Stupid, stupid, stupid. The Yosting of 2008 begins.
  5. Meh, I really dislike Rivera, his slow-motion swing, and the many holes it contains. And yay, another righty. Maybe Kendall can find a way to start 162 games this year. (Never ever thought I'd be saying that!)
  6. The Cubs last year got off to a slow start as they adjusted to their new manager, new players, and dealt with in-fighting. Some here may not agree, but I expect their 2008 performance to be more like the Cubs team that finished the season 63-46 than the Cubs team that started off 22-31. We can contend, but I see them as the clear favorite.
  7. Agree on Villy and some of the other stuff, but if you were being sarstic when commenting on Mike Cameron being a guy who could work the count (implying he couldn't), that doesn't make sense to me. Aren't Cameron's career numbers in pitches per PA among the highest on the team?
  8. Dropping Vargas and finding out about Cappy's injury here would certainly have been an "oof" moment, but let's not exaggerate. A starting 6 of Sheets, Yo, Suppan, Bush, Villy, and Parra ... with decent spot-start options like ZachJack and Dillard in the wings ... is still probably better than 80% (?) of teams out there. And had it been Cappy that was dropped, we'd be passing around the hat to put another coat of bronze on the DM statue. Cappy is my favorite Brewer, so this hurts on a number of levels. I still wouldn't mind them trading a Bush or Vargas, but now they almost certainly won't, which is maybe what stinks the most. The more veteran starters we have, the more likely it is that Parra and Villy are on the outside looking in rather than being set in the roles that make the big league club better. Blowing it in this regard is sorta the M.O. of the Brewers organization.
  9. Yeah!! "Pacer" FTW! Went 7 for 8 on games yesterday. Unfortunately, my one miss was a Final Four team (Pitt). *cries*
  10. Is there anything more predictable than a Notre Dame exit in the opening weekend? Hahaha, I love it. That's what happens when you're perennially overrated and seeded better than you should be. EMBARRASSED by Tony Bennet and company. Awesome.
  11. For the record, I'm a huge Badger fan. (I'm seeing the word "luck" make it into a lot of the posts now and I don't know if that was directed at my reference to it above.) Still, while I'm a big fan of the team, Bo, and the way they play, I can't deny that Kansas State -- with average outside shooting -- should have had 9 to 15 more more points in the course of the game. Not saying it would definitely have changed the outcome, but Badgers were fortunate to catch them on such a cold night. (You could argue that the Wisconsin defense caused the 0-13 performance, but if you watched the game, you know Kansas State had plenty of open looks from outside while we waited for them to prove they could hit a three.)
  12. Brook & Robin. Parents thought they were having girls? A nod to Brooks Robinson?
  13. Wisconsin played very well, but also got very lucky. What was Kansas St, 0 for 13 from 3PT-land? Even a bad 25% shooting day from out there gives them 9-12 more points during the course of the game and could have really changed things. A lot of skill and a good amount of luck too. Kansas St had good looks, just aberrationally cold.
  14. I don't have a picture. It's your basic (felt? 2.5 ft?) pennant that you would have bought from the County Stadium concessions back 15 years ago or so. Just sick of it being in my way. No plans to ever pin it up anywhere. Free if you can pick up in West Allis.
  15. Found a slickdeal on this jacket for like $20 shipped. Bought a Medium, wore it a few days, thought maybe it was too big, ordered a Small. Got the Small, wore it a few days, and realized it was too small. So this jacket is basically new, I wore it maybe 3 or 4 times. Free if you can pick up in West Allis. I'm a pretty small guy, 5'8" 145 lb, and it's just a little too small for me ... so bear that in mind. A picture of it is below. It's pretty nice, half wind-breaker-ish and half fleece-ish. Comfy and pretty warm. Not bad for $0.00. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif http://images.nearbynow.com/productimages/finishline/6e/00352e6e_360x360.jpg
  16. <--- Proudly picked West Virginia over Duke in his bracket. LOVE IT. Wasn't sure I was going to be able to watch basketball today after the Clemson heartbreak yesterday, but it's gotten off to a darn fine start. Now the Badgers just need to take care of business....
  17. Wish I could've seen the KS St game to see what they're all about. I can't even form a prediction. Hoping hard for a Badger win so I can root them on in person when I'm out in Detroit for the NCAAs next weekend.
  18. Were you saying the same thing about Jenkins these last couple years when he was in the same boat at ~15 times the cost? There are lots of MLB outfielders who "need a platoon partner", none of them should be anywhere near the big leagues? And Gwynn's young and still improving ... I don't get the comment.
  19. This is why I wanted more than 10 keepers in our league. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif Thanks for the insight guys, still not sure what I'm going to do. Now I'm thinking about keeping Smoltz, Swisher, and Beltre -- they were barely on my radar before.
  20. Can I hi-jack rather than start a new thread? I need to pick 10 keepers from this list of 25 (typical Yahoo settings): Posada, Fielder, Utley, Wright, Hall, Burrell, Dunn, Hart, LoDuca, Giambi, Beltre, V. Wells, Swisher Sheets, Carmona, Lilly, Halladay, Burnett, F. Cordero, C. Cordero, Smoltz, Lowe, Capps, Hughes, Lidge First 7 are easy: Fielder, Utley, Wright, Dunn, Hart, Sheets, Halladay Next 2 are probably...: Burnett, Posada Can't decide between: Hughes or Carmona Nervous that I'm underestimating: V. Wells, Swisher, Smoltz, F. Cordero Any thoughts?
  21. And dropping the ball better and mis-reading grounders better than ever before!
  22. about:blank I don't want anything loading until I tell it to.
  23. My flight leaves Milwaukee tomorrow morning at 7:30. If you're there this weekend, look for the guy in the "I [beer] Milwaukee" shirt, Brewerfan.net softball shirt, Clemson shirt, or "Wiffle Ball Legend" shirt. Possibly sporting a Valpo cap. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  24. Don't the teams have overall ratings? You know, so you can compare teams to find an even match? I thought there would be all kinds of comments here about how The Show rates the Brewers and the teams they compare to.
