  1. What's up guys? I know it's super-late notice, but nullbyte and myself might be doing a little Trivial Pursuit / drinking party tonight. If anyone sees this and is interested, reply or send me a PM or something.
  2. I've bought a lot of stuff via craigslist and sold a few items too. It's really nothing like ebay, it's a just large, free, online classifieds site. For buying/selling, you read the ad, call or email to inquire, and then go to the seller's house to buy or not buy. I like it for selling because I like dealing with people via email rather than phone, so I can post an email address, no phone number, request that potential buyers email me.
  3. I never ever go to the movie theater, but Superbad might send me to the box office for a record THIRD TIME this summer. Once for Transformers (went with friends who were hell-bent, actually not that bad) ... once for The Simpsons (favorite TV Show since forever, a no-brainer) ... and now -- possibly -- a third time for Superbad (George Michael from Arrested Development *and* Guy from Campus Ladies?? gotta be good).
  4. Some random monday night drunkery to say that my list in the Hotties thread bleepin pwns joo.
  5. Sorry to go off-topic, I know this thread isn't about the movie, but I gotta say that A League of Their Own is easily my all-time favorite baseball movie. (#2 being The Sandlot ... anything else is a distant third.) To stay on topic, I think I would really enjoy checking out that field for the historical aspects. Looks neat! That maple tree must've made for some tough plays in left.
  6. Done. This was already in my post. I honestly found that there was no difference top or bottom ... heck, I didn't even notice a difference when I put the bar on top and set the settings to bottom or vice versa. Seriously? That's pretty dumb. So all I can do is that hope lots of games don't utilize pointing? I get the feeling that I won't be that lucky when it comes to games like Mario Party and the Rayman party game. (Half the reason I'd buy the console.)
  7. I'm buying a wii from a friend of mine who's letting me borrow it right now just to test drive it before the final purchase. Am I the only one who finds anything that involves pointing with the wiimote to be annoying or even frustrating? I have no problem with, say, anything in Wii Sports, but like on the main menu, controlling the selection cursor / hand is difficult to me. You have to move the wiimote ever so slightly when moving it (otherwise the cursor just takes off to the edge of the screen) and even when you hover on something, it's hard to stay hovered on it because if your hand moves a sliver, you're off the button. Then, I came across Wii Play, where there are a lot of pointing activities, and it gets even more frustrating. Pointing at balloons to shoot them seems almost impossible. Again, you have to move the remote with very slight degrees -- it really takes the fun out of it when you're standing in front of a 42" TV and you can only move your wiimote an inch up and down without going off the screen. And when I'm playing and I "look down the barrel" of the wiimote, it's not even pointing at the screen where the cursor is ... not even close. Yes, I set the sensor bar positioning to match where I put the sensor bar. And I've tried both above TV and below TV. And I've tried standing different distances from the TV. Any comments on this? I thought bowling, tennis, and baseball were all pretty fun and easy ... then I got to pointing activities in Wii Play and wanted to throw the system out the window.
  8. Homer: You don't win friends with salad.
  9. Thanks guys. Ikea was my first reaction, too, but I don't see it in their online catalog. There's this which looks like one quadrant of it ... maybe they have to be stacked? I'm going to be in chicago this weekend, maybe I'll stop by the store. Menotti, thanks for that link, I like that a lot. Might be a winner!
  10. Homer: Let the bears pay the Bear Tax, I pay the Homer Tax.
  11. FYI, if you wanna save yourself some typing, simply "brewers.com" suffices now ... ever since the offseason, I think. Both urls redirect to the url that Point Beer posted, however.
  12. I was watching a video a while ago and saw an entertainment center type thing that I might consider for my living room when I wallmount my plasma. It has a modern/contemporary look, with like 4 square cubby areas, and was white in color (didn't appear to have wood grain, more of a plastic/laminate/smooth surface). The look of the unit was as if it started as one big brick and then the "cubbies" were cut out of them. I tried doing some google searching, but it didn't save me. I drew a picture below that I think it pretty accurate. If you can, please help. http://images.yuku.com/image/pjpeg/eab1544395d2b6247d4bcbf6d44d62649600b89.pjpg Also, and to make the thread more worthwhile, anyone know of any other nice entertainment stands that would be suitable for going under a wallmounted TV? I'm trying to avoid woodgrain and black, so something like the above picture or maybe something that made a lot of use of silver and glass. Thanks.
  13. Dear Offense, Awesome work putting up six whole runs in two games in Colorado. Whether it's starting off a game with a small crooked number only to do nothing for the rest of the game, hitting like trash with runners on base, hitting like rotten trash in clutch situations, or finding ways to only hit home runs with nobody on, it's good to know I can always count on you to be truly and utterly disappointing. Always, U. R. Crappy
  14. It took a lot of posts for this point to be brought up, and I think it hits the nail on the head. The casual booing heard for former Brewers is nothing more than the 5 seconds of ribbing you give your best friend who goes out of state to college and comes over to your house on break wearing an Gophers t-shirt.
  15. I find a lot of times when I go back to the topic list after reading a thread, there's already a new post. Depends on who posted it whether I go right back into it. I use the last post username to quickly determine if anyone has posted since me. Kindof a pain to have to open threads you posted in earlier and scroll to the bottom of them just to find that you're still the last post in each.
  16. Sex, divisiveness, and politics. This post had it all! My sentiments are pretty much the same as whoever said that this was a nice departure from the status quo. I miss seeing players' fire. Jeff Cirillo had a way of every once and a while getting fired up at a bad call or something -- don't really see anything like that from this team -- kinda miss the reminder that these are athletes hungry to win. I'm also pretty surprised that so many people were convinced that the "waiting on" comment was the same as the cliche'd "have to do it ourselves" comment. It's a very odd way to say it.
  17. Just a quick comment to say that I'm also hoping that displaying the "last post" username is one of the next adjustments to be made. Seems like an information gap without it.
  18. Someone can correct me if this is wrong, I'm not really up on this stuff.... This is a good question to raise. Your intuition is right ... iPods' popularity really has pushed it way ahead in terms of compatibility with aftermarket decks. In addition to some decks being built to integrate with iPods very easily, there are also a good number of iPod car gadgets made by third parties that will retro fit your deck to control the iPod or give you a separate/convenient interface for working with your iPod as it plays through your deck. This selling point is about the only thing that would steer me towards an iPod, but it's a relatively convincing one. The audio from any mp3 player could be run through your deck, using rear inputs (if the deck has one, good quality), a front 1/8" input (if your deck has one, good quality), an FM transmitter (fair quality), a casette tape converter (if it's a tape deck, fair quality), or through the rear antenna input (fair+ quality) ... you would just have to control the mp3 player on its own.
  19. Tempers flare as Brewers drop finale (adjusted link --1992)
  20. And Virginia Tech? Hard to believe Wisconsin isn't considered at least a tick above Nebraska over the last 10 years ... hasn't Nebraska basically been non-existent for the last 5 of those 10 years? Then again, their 94-34 record looks nice, wouldn't have expected them to be 5 wins better than the Badgers in that period.
  21. 1. Omar Vizquel 2. Josh Beckett 3. Jarrod Washburn 4. Wells/Halladay/Overbay 5. Adam Kennedy
  22. That SI article was impressively well done.
  23. I don't see what's so bad about someone having the opinion that the Brewers season is over. There are some undeniable trends staring us in the face right now. A logical person could have every right to believe that the trends will continue and we'll likely be a bit out of it by season's end. Especially if that logical person is a bit on the pessimistic side. I mean, June 25 - 27 was the last time we looked good in a series, and that was against Hou in Milwaukee. Since then, we've botched every road series, including series against Pit, Was, and Cin; found a way to screw up a home series against SF; and barely squeaked out home series wins against Col and Ari. Meanwhile, another team in our division is virtually tied with us, more experienced, and playing better baseball. Not very much to draw confidence from. It's obviously too early to know what Aug and Sept will bring for sure, but I wouldn't fault someone for evaluating and analyzing the state of things right now and concluding that 2007 is all but over for the Brewers. Not saying I agree with them. Not saying I don't either.
  24. Crappy play before the all-star break against teams we shoulda beat up, a disappointing 6-4 homestand with a bunch of squeaker wins, and now a 3-1 series loss at the Reds. PUKE. Keep squandering that lead, boys.
