  1. People seemed to like the prospect of Skiles being head coach more than the prospect of Carlisle. Why? I'm guessing Carlisle's career record is better (and longer). And Skiles is Chicago's reject. I don't have expertise to base it on, but Skiles seems inferior to Carlisle as a choice for NBA coach. Not excited....
  2. ??? To me it sounds like a high profile pitcher left a game prematurely for a health-related reason. Which is exactly what happened.
  3. Looks like the BF.net softball game is on tonight, hopefully there'll be a crowd of us rolling in afterwards to celebrate a dominant win.
  4. I'd love to, but no can do. Dinner at the grandparents tonight.
  5. In previous years, notification has always appeared here in the forum.
  6. Nick was Happy. If he's down with playing 3B, and lcbj68c (Luke?) is okay with SS, that sounds good to me. I've wanted to move over from SS/3B and get some time at 2B since our first season in 2006 -- I think it's actually a better fit for me.
  7. I've been trying to get that going in the chatroom, except I was using Hola Mota. Hasn't stuck....
  8. Hales Corners? Probably, it pretty much always is. It doesn't matter to me where we play, just name the spot. OCHS will probably be better maintained and drier than HC (field down a hill), and it's closer to the home of our fearless leader. Only concern would be if we're not allowed to be on it or there's some other school use for it at that time. I might be a little late since I'll be working in chicago tomorrow.
  9. I'll be there. EDIT: Only 8. Of the rest of our roster, who is definitely out and who is unknown at this time?
  10. ~6:00 start time I think. If the BF.net softball game gets rained out, better chance I'll make it. Otherwise our game ends at 8:15 and the game will likely be almost over.
  11. Wait, we have a game already next week Friday?
  12. I'd be game for Tuesday, not Thursday.
  13. Corey Hart the early goat of today's game. God awful terrible lazy throw. Shoulda been a super easy out at the plate, instead, he gives them 2 runs. Thanks Corey.
  14. Was I the only one thinking "Johnny Chimpo" every time I heard his name?
  15. Hmm, I watched the first 45 minutes or so of (what I think was) the first episode and thought it was downright awful. Giamatti was so far over his head in that role, it was embarassing to watch. And when the script wasn't bland it was overly dramatic, forced, and phony -- "Hollywooded up" and thinly veiled in its efforts to be culturally conscious ... weak in its attempt to be human ... to the point of pandering. Yuck.
  16. "I had a small house of brokerage on Wall Street... many days no business come to my hut...... but Jimmy has fear? A thousand times no! I never doubted myself for a minute, for I knew that my monkey strong bowels were girded with strength like the loins of a dragon ribboned with fat and the opulence of buffalo...... dung. Glorious sunset of my heart was fading. Soon the super karate monkey death car would park in my space. But Jimmy has fancy plans... and pants to match. The monkey clown horrible karate round and yummy like cute small baby chick would beat the donkey." EDIT:
  17. But it still won't smell the same. Kinda sad thinking that someday when I have a son, I'll be telling him about how back in the day the games actually took place on real grass and how great the smell of the field was. Miller Park is artificial enough already.
  18. Same thing happened to us this year in the 300 level. After a couple of years of our 20 game Fan's Choice pack being in the same section with the same seats, suddenly this year our tickets vary on a game-by-game basis so that we're in about eight different sections (including some outfield seats when we're supposed to be infield). On the one hand, the "populrity" argument makes sense to me, but on the other hand, it really doesn't. It seems like the only thing Fan's Choice should be prioritized below would be the Full Season tickets and the set 20 game packs. There's no way the interest in those other packages went up enough to call for the dramatic change we're suddenly getting this year. And we basically did everything "right", we ponied up for the playoff tickets immediately last year and then renewed immediately for '08 right away when we had the chance. So you're not the only one disappointed.
  19. Who's the genius who thinks it's a good idea to bat a stud like Hart just two spots in front of the pitcher? I hate you, Yost.
  20. I would have suggested a Washburn D10 electric acoustic. Fantastic guitar in that price range.
  21. The bars on Bluemound by the stadium: Long Wong's, Kelly's Bleachers. Not exactly "playoff atmosphere", but that would be my go-to. Or maybe Colonel Hart's in downtown Tosa? I can't recall if I ever watched a Brewers game there or just other random baseball games.
  22. Sure, but you can't put him in your shoes, you have to put yourself with him? If you were a ballplayer like that, would you sacrifice a little bit of cash to play for an organization that's not currently a complete embarassment? Hard to say unless you were actually in that position, but from the outside looking in, I can't imagine the extra ~3% in salary being worth it.
  23. Thing is, the video being played in 2008 might very well have nothing to do with whether or not it was "slobber" when I saw the video in, say, 1989 at County, there are too many potential explanations and variables in the stories. Sans time machine, we may never know. (I'll spring for the DeLorean if anyone has 1.21 gigowatts to spare.)
  24. I've got faith in Gagne still, but man, it looked like he was on "Empty" the whole game. Like he had nothing. No stuff. Scary....
  25. Hall has no business ever trying to steal a base ever. In a close game, Hall leading off of second by any amount that could make a pickoff move remotely close is BEYOND IDIOTIC. So stupidly freaking dumb. EDIT: I blame Yost. Gwynn with the successful steal of third before and the fool probably couldn't help himself.
