  3. Every Brewers loss gets us closer to the "post-Yost" era.
  4. You're right Casey, McAfee Security Center is providing all of those services. Are there any all-encompassing security packages that are on par or better than McAfee? I'm not too knowledgeable about these sorts of things. I get most of my tech advice from reading Brewerfan. I'd probably still be using IE instead of Firefox right now if it weren't for you guys. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif EDIT: I see that AVG has a total protection package that is within $5 of what McAfee offers for the same type of protection.
  5. No JP Morgan Chase love? I've used Chase (formerly BankOne) for about ten years when I first left for college. I've never had a problem with them (knock on wood). My wife and I have separate checking and savings accounts, a joint savings account, a couple of credit cards, and a home mortgage through them. I think the key for us has been having a relationship with a personal banker. When my wife decided to transfer her accounts to Chase when we were shopping for a mortgage loan, we dealt with an extremely helpful personal banker who has been our contact over the past few years if we have questions regarding our accounts. They'd hate to tick us off, considering the amount accounts we have. We also earn interest on our checking accounts. As for the NSF fee, I'm assuming that those who have been plagued by it don't have overdraft protection where the bank is allowed to draw off your savings account to avoid bouncing a check. Instead of a $35 NSF fee, it's around $10 as a service fee and only charged once. And that's only happened once or twice with my wife, and both times she called our contact at the bank who waived the fee. As far as I know, it's a free service.
  6. I bought a new computer about a month ago, which came with a 30 day trial of McAfee security center. Obviously I need to have virus protection before my trial period ends on the 15th, so my question is, What virus protection does the Brewerfan crowd recommend? Should I just renew the subscription to McAfee or is there a better one out there (without going too crazy pricewise)?
  7. First, I think you could do without the tone. I was in no way calling you out, but telling me to "read the rules" and "read what I wrote" is a little condescending. I'm not sure why you're getting all defensive. Back on point, what you highlighted from the rulebook and what I summarized from the article are the same thing. They can only force the scorer to change the call if it is found to be clearly erroneous, which I take to mean as a call that was completely blown. A judgment call, like the one that Webb made yesterday, can only be changed if the scorer decides to, perhaps at the suggestion of the league office. It all depends on how the league decides to classify it - clearly erroneous, or a missed judgment call. (minor code repair --1992)
  8. Jim Ross: "Fielder with a spinebuster! My God, what an impact!"
  9. This is untrue. After he submits the official score to the game (within 24 hours of its conclusion) a team may challenge the official score within 24 hours and the league president will determine if an error in judgment was made have the score card updated. So I believe this is in the Commish's hands... The article that I read said that the league will only overturn a ruling if they find it to be fundamentally erroneous, which isn't the case here. If they feel that a judgment call should have gone the other way, they can merely suggest that the official scorer change his ruling. So if the article on the Brewers website is right, Webb is the only one who can change his own call in this situation. From the article: Again, the league can't make the guy change his mind.
  10. I have the "All Play" version for the Wii. I've only played a couple of games on it so far, but it's pretty different using the Wii remote and numchuck than playing it on my PS2. You start out at a simple level to master the motions required before moving onto "advanced." After a touchdown or a big play, you can shake the remote and numchuck to make your player celebrate which will give him a boost. I like it so far.
  11. http://www.checkoutmycards.com/CardImages/Cards/011/987/09F.jpg I was 11 years old in the summer of '92. I bought a Pat Listach rookie card (not this one) because I thought it would be a good investment.
  12. Does he wait tables at the Tilted Kilt? Seriously though, I like the idea of adding a player to our bullpen that we control for 2+ years. He'd definitely help us out during the playoff push, and if we find ourselves out of contention in '09 or '10 because of holes in our rotation with no need for a top closer, he could possibly be dealt to another team at that time. I'd love to keep him around longer if he maintains his career numbers.
  13. The wife and I are leaving for Vegas on Thursday for our first anniversary (after going to the Brewers game the night before, of course). We've done a bit of research and found some pretty interesting free/cheap things to do during our week there, but I was wondering what tips/experiences the brewerfan community has regarding Sin City.
  14. I heard he can also do this by simply pointing his finger at one and saying, "Boo-yah."
  15. If 8 years, $45 million is correct, thats just over $5.5 million per year. Definitely seems like a good deal.
  16. When I told my wife about Fallon taking over for O'Brien, her response was, "But... he's not even funny!" I have to agree.
  17. I get it. But I'm not sure if it would be a profitable phrase to put on a t-shirt, if that's what you're getting at. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Unless, of course, you're... trying to rule the world!
  18. It's been a long time since I've had business law, but doesn't the landlord (once notified about the ex moving out) have to show that he tried to find another occupant before he can come after the remaining persons on the lease for the rent due? If what your describing is true, I can't believe he wouldn't give you a grace period since you already had lined up someone to take your ex's place. Money later is better than no money. Unless of course he already had people lined up to rent the property immediately. As far as the sister thing goes, he's a shyster for not telling you about her, but I don't think there is anything you can do about that.
  19. I remember there being a thread about this subject a couple of years ago. A reporter had asked Michael Barrett during a Cubs series at Miller Park about possible future renovations of Wrigley Field. The reporter suggested the Cubs might have to play at U.S. Cellular, and Barrett's response was something like, "Nah, we'd play here." The author of the thread was quite displeased with Barrett's perceived arrogance. Does anyone else remember this? Edit: Found a blog referencing the article:
  20. The article says that her parents declined to press charges. I love the ending to the article:
  21. A 1990 maroon Ford Ranger. Absolute basic truck. Standard transmission, and no radio. A "Ford" nameplate covered the area where the radio was supposed to be. I had to install the antenna, radio, speakers, and all the wiring. Picture this: http://lotsofcars.com/listings/images/144_1_t.jpg with a sweet white topper for the winter with four bags of lime to help with traction in the winter.
  22. I play sports games almost exclusively (with the occasional X-Men: Legends and GTA-types thrown in) and I do own an HDTV (42"). When I got my new TV, that's when I finally realized that the PS2 graphics were lacking in sharpness. My TV also has 1080 capability, so the BluRay feature of the PS3 is intriguing, but I think I'm leaning towards a Wii for the fact that it's more "active" and might incite less of a riot from my wife when she sees me playing video games if it's something she could easily play as well. What level of quality are the sports games for Wii (other than Wii sports which looks like tons of fun)? Are the games for Wii typically "family-friendly" or is there a wider array of genres available?
