  1. Congrats! How is baby JerMichael doing?
  2. "The hospital will provide the dictionaries. Bring a thesaurus."
  3. I think that's true. He (Fox) actually auditioned for the role of Sawyer, and "Jack" was basically created for him. Which is amazing considering how very prominent he's been in the series. They had a beginning and an end in mind for the series, but pretty sure they didn't have the whole thing planned out.
  4. A quick check on Hulu reveals the following: #23 - Sheppard #8 - Reyes #16 - Jarrah #42 - Kwon (we don't know which one yet) #4 - Locke #15 - Ford Of course, these numbers look familiar since they were Hugo's winning lottery numbers and appeared on the hatch, but in both cases appeared in a different (ascending) order: 4-8-15-16-23-42 But what about the other Oceanic survivors? It appears that these six (not the same as the "Oceanic Six") will play a more substantial role at the end, while others like Kate may not get that far.
  5. How can anyone tell the good Locke from the bad Locke if the bad one doesn't have an evil goatee?
  6. Yeah, ditto. I will consider my dark blue "Brewers" Braun jersey a collectors item now http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif I gotta think they are keeping the dark blue "Brewers" jersey for home games. Same jersey, same font - just different text based on home/away.
  7. I read an article that suggested that Texas, Missouri, and Nebraska all jump to the Big 10 to form a 14 team super conference. That would certainly take a huge chunk out of the Big 12.
  8. Isn't Florida trying to actively recruit teams for spring training? Why don't they just move there if their park is so crappy. I can't believe something as ridiculous as this ticket surcharge would pass. Their fans should pay for it, not the whole Cactus League. And a car-rental tax to help pay for it? Seriously? Good grief.
  9. Overall, the commercials didn't meet my expectations. I guess I'm in the minority on the Doritos commercials. My reaction to the dog collar one and the other one with the "keep your hands off my mama and my Doritos" kid was "You spent millions of dollars... on THAT?" The only commercial that I laughed at was the Bud Light book club, when the guy sits down on the couch and says to one of the members, "Hey, I'd like to hear YOU read some words." As for the Halftime Show, I'd love to see the Foo Fighters. But Dave Grohl is all tatted-up now, so I guess that's out. I think that if your band has been around long enough to have played at Super Bowl I, then you shouldn't be under consideration.
  10. Yeah, Pam must be about 10 months pregnant by now. I agree with the Christian Slater comments. It totally ruined the surprise. I just watch Zombieland, and a certain celebrity had a cameo in it that I thought was hiliarious ("We're going to the very tip-top of the A-list!"). Had he been included in the trailers, it might not have been funny at all. I hope they don't drag this show out to the point where it pains me to watch something I once loved (like Scrubs).
  11. I guess this part wouldn't make sense to me, since it would require Jacob to inhabit the body of Sayid, while the nemesis is only taking the form of Locke, but obviously not inhabiting his body as evidenced by the corpse on the beach. I would have a huge problem with that, but that's just me. But something else was strange with the airplane scenes. It wasn't as simple as "the plane was supposed to crash, but it didn't." Something else changed prior to that, since Hurley quipped "I'm the luckiest man alive!" which we all know wasn't the case after Hurley won the lottery. And how did the flight attendant wind up at the temple? What did she mean by the "first" plane? And who are these other "Others?" Will my headache ever go away from trying to keep all the timelines straight?
  12. I was hoping for Missouri, which would open up a spot for Boise State in the Big 12. There's a rivalry there between Missouri/Illinois - they definitely hate each other. At least Pitt would seem to fill the requirement that the 12th school be a "fit" academically. They don't let just anybody in (I'm looking at you, SEC).
  13. That's pretty similar to what was reported on the news. Like others here, as a sports fan and occasional weekend traveler, I'm pretty pumped by this. If I can get to Miller Park and back in the same amount of time (or less time if they put in the 110mph train) or get to Chicago in three hours without having to drive and worry about the traffic congestion, sign me up. But I do see the concerns that others are having with the fact that these trains will be running mostly empty during the week. My family would certainly make more trips to Miller Park for weekday evening games if I didn't have to worry about driving/parking, however.
  14. The news here in Green Bay is that there will be a rail connecting Green Bay to Milwaukee. It's being described as a 79 mph train rather than the 110 mph.
  15. I've just received word that Disney World is planning on relocating to Milwaukee. More details forthcoming. Tune in at 10. See, anyone can come up ridiculous ideas. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  16. So, I had a panic attack when I read this headline: "Mr. Baseball" passes away Apparently, that's what folks in Texas called Bragan.
  17. "NBC has prohibited me from hosting another show for 7 months. So tune in next week for The Andy Richter show, with his new sidekick Conan O'Brien!" It'll be interesting to see how the next chapter unfolds for Co Co. I know he has a clause in his contract that reduces his payment from NBC by whatever he makes over the next 3 or so years from doing another talk show. I'm sure there's something in there saying his pay would have to be commensurate with his peers, but otherwise I'd get a gig on FOX for like a $1 a week. If the Brewers have to pay Bill Hall to play for the Red Sox, it would be pretty funny to basically see NBC pay O'Brien to compete against them on another network. But like I said, it's unlikely NBC made that mistake... right?
  18. Conan was getting about half the viewers that Leno did, long before all the press of late. NBC's choice was obvious, once they gave into the affiliates and ended the Leno at 9 experiment. And Leno was thoroughly trounced by Letterman for more than a year when he got his start. Conan got half a year. And we can't pretend that Leno's new crappy show haven't affected Conan's ratings either. If the affiliates are up in arms that the ratings are falling for their news programs, that obviously directly impacts Conan's ratings due to lesser viewed lead-ins. I firmly believe that the complete failure of "The Jay Leno Show" must shoulder a substantial part of the blame for lower ratings for the new Tonight Show because of that chain reaction. Trust me, if Leno is given the keys back to The Tonight Show, the big winner in all of this will be Letterman because Leno has alienated a substantial portion of his audience. Again, I do not understand any discussion of Leno's wrongdoing...his choices were to leave or go back to 10:35. He decided to go back to his old time slot. I wouldn't say that Leno is doing anything "wrong," but he certainly isn't doing what is right. And that would be honoring what he agreed to 5 years ago - retire and pass the torch to the new guy.
  19. I like Jimmy a whole lot more now. Classic. A few months ago while channel-surfing, I stumbled across Kimmel interviewing Melissa Joan-Hart after being eliminated from Dancing with the Stars. He asked her if she felt tempted to use witchcraft at any time during the competition. She was visibly irked, and said something like "That joke is so, like, 1996." Kimmel quipped back with, "Well so are you, to be completely honest." The guy thinks very quickly on his feet. Also, count me in as a past "casual" viewer of Leno but will avoid him at all costs from now on. I think it's a huge mistake to just assume he'll regain the top spot. Like someone else said, he has this "dad" humor that's just not funny.
  20. He just slings those jokes all over the place. I bet he'd tell 'em for free. I'm a Conan guy, and I think he would be a great fit on either CC or Fox. I love Seinfeld, but I would think Conan at 10 central would be a better draw than the reruns that local affiliates air. Conan's contract pays him $28 million a year (or so one of those early-evening TV tabloid shows told me) which is a pretty big chunk of change to walk away from.
  21. I think this would be great. It's pretty ethnocentric to call our baseball/basketball champions "World" champions when there are highly competitive leagues in other nations (football being the exception here). Due to the amount of travel, I can see alternating which nation hosts the event each year. Would probably have to be held either in dome or moderate climate state (like the Superbowl) when hosted here. Probably a pipe dream, but hosting an event like this at Miller Park would be incredible, even if it's just once. I'm not that familiar with Japanese baseball, but are there any major rule discrepancies between the two (i.e., the DH rule in the AL vs. pitchers hit in the NL)?
  22. This is closer to the dollar amount I expected. Bowden had tweeted that the sides were close to a 7 year $98.5 million deal, which absolutely floored me.
  23. I received a notice in the mail yesterday from the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department. It informed me that I have an unpaid parking ticket from October. I had allegedly parked my car at 2:30am on a weekday. Very peculiar, since I live in Green Bay and neither I nor a vehicle I own have set foot in Wisconsin Rapids in ten years. Hopefully this can be resolved with a phone call, but I'm concerned with how many times people call them saying it wasn't their car.
  24. Well, the alleged victim is the son of one of their correspondents.
