  1. To keep up the rhyming theme, I think they'll call Pujols "East of the Canyon Branyan."
  2. Yo = Game changer. If the Brewers hang on to win, that's at least 2 games he won because of his bat.
  3. Ron is a pretty solid character. I think the only time I laughed was when he told Tom that he was worse than his ex-wife was at Scrabble, and called her a you-know-what. Then he looked directly into the camera, said her full name, and called her that again.
  4. Translation: Porn. This is a golden opportunity for a poker night, or several. Host a PPV event (MMA, WWE) if you're into that sort of thing. Make an ottoman out of pizza boxes. Watch every Star Wars movie consecutively. Think of whatever would annoy her the most if she were there, and then do it.
  5. I didn't know they were going to shoot this series in the same manner as The Office, where everyone is being followed around like a documentary (I should have figured that part out from the promo's). It wasn't very good, the only part I laughed at was Ansari's character hitting on Rashida Jones's character when they first met. Right now it seems like someone said, "Hey, how about this? We make Michael Scott a woman, but instead of working in the private sector, she works for the governement! It will be totally fresh!" I'm sure it will get better, but right now it makes me long for the days of "Kath & Kim."
  6. I don't think it's been mentioned in this thread, but the person responsible for the hit and run was driving with a suspended license for a previous DUI. Despicable. I'll be cheering for the Angels this year as well.
  7. I'm in the same situation, theavrock. I don't have cable since I don't watch enough TV to justify it, and if I did have cable, the only thing I would watch is Comedy Central and Brewer games. So I've thought about getting MLB TV for awhile, but never pulled the trigger on it yet. I live in Green Bay, so I may or may not have the blackout issues you have. Does anyone know if the games get archived? For example, if a game is played in the afternoon, can I come home and watch it in the evening? EDIT: Just answered my own questions. The MLB TV site says Green Bay is subject to blackouts, since I'm in the home television market. So it sounds like this isn't an option for anyone living in WI. It's "out of market" only, unless you only want to watch archived games.
  8. Has anyone played MLB 2K8 or 2K9 for Wii? I was hoping to get a baseball game that was a little more "grown-up" than most of what's available for this platform.
  9. My first thought was, "We have to go baaaack, Kate!" Second thought, what would Kurt Cobain look like if he were alive today? And Dave Grohl is still awesome.
  10. If I were Helling (or Frank Thomas) and I got that size the old fashioned way, I'd be pretty PO'd about guys getting huge dishonestly too. They'd be stealing money from me. It's good to hear about guys like this that stood up for what's right, without seeking financial gain in the process.
  11. I thought I had read somewhere that one of the Yankees (Nady, maybe?) was looking for an apartment and they wouldn't accept his card knowing his assets were frozen, so he'll essentially be homeless - at least in NY - once camp breaks.
  12. I have a problem with voles. They're really sneaky. Hiding like cowards beneath the snow, leaving me completely unaware of their existence until the spring thaw when my lawn looks like labyrinth: http://www.extension.umn.edu/yardandgarden/YGLNews/images2/voles1.jpg (This isn't a picture of my lawn, but mine looks very similar to this in the spring).
  13. I wonder, though, that since this is measured by their "in-market" popularity/loyalty, wouldn't the presence of another in-market team impact these rankings? I'm sure they were bound to run into some Mets and White Sox fans who had rated their loyalty to their cross-town rivals as being very low.
  14. Didn't he win a $10MM arbitration case last year? If so, this deal does buy out one year of free agency, unless I'm missing something. EDIT: Nevermind, the article says he wouldn't have been a free agent until after 2011, because he has less than 4 years of service time.
  15. This sounds like something you'd see in a Will Ferrell movie. A washed-up former prospect gets drunk at a high school lacrosse game, picks up and throws a freshman, and plays the "Do you know who I am?!" card.

  17. In the article, it states that random testing was done in 2003 to determine if a steroid testing policy needed to be put in place in 2004. It was done confidentially. However, the lab that did the testing was raided as part of the BALCO case and the names are now known (but only AROD's has been released thus far).
  18. I'm hoping that's the case. Going into the offseason, they had to feel pretty good about getting two first found picks and two sandwich picks for CC and Ben, not one sandwich and a second rounder. If they budgeted accordingly, they should have some extra coin.
  19. My submission: Norm MacDonald http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/7ed351834f71948befda2cf3fbba52b0d5c20a6.jpg http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/2f115d4098ea2cf2d808d646399f17c555719ff.jpg
  20. You can do your federal at TurboTax.com for free. The e-file is free there as well. They'll do your state taxes, but charge you $24.95 and e-file your state return for "free" as well. It's likely the same program - I'd check it out and return the store-bought copy if I were you. It would save you 50%.
  21. This is the same guy that turned himself in to authorities after he slapped around his own mother and sister the weekend that "The Dark Knight" opened up, right? I love most of his movies, but he seems to be kind of a tool.
  22. Watching Jack Black at the end of the episode drop his flowers, and then the quad cane he was carrying, got a laugh out of me as well.
  23. "Kevin - I couldn't decide between a dumb joke or a fat joke. Boom...Roasted."
  24. I voted 3 times.
  25. And the next 5 teams all made the playoffs. If the Mets hadn't choked (again), then 6 of the top 8 teams in terms of salary would have made the playoffs. The only team to even make the playoffs in the bottom half of payroll were the Rays. And the only way you assemble a team like that is to stink for years and hope all of your very high draft picks pan out to make a run like they did. And look what the firesales did to their fanbase: http://snaggingbaseballs.mlblogs.com/marlins_baseball.jpg I know you won't agree, but to me there is a relationship between team payroll and playoffs.
