  1. It's funny that some of the same people clamouring for T-Bow instead of Aquino were more than willing to run him out of town not so long ago. What bothered me was that Yost did not have anyone up in the pen, -- I think why people were "clamouring" for T-bow, was primarily because he is our designated "8th inning guy". If Dessens was our 8th inning guy, I think people would have been "clamouring" for him. In any case it was painfully obvious that Yost put all his eggs in the Aquino basket, and if the Reds would have PH for Stanton, he still might be on the mound. Aquino wasn't going to get anyone out. It was bad pitcher handling by Yost -- and as soon as Turnbow has some trade value, he gets moved.
  2. The Yost decisions have been and it seems, always be on the pitching side. He had NO ONE warming up. Aquino or bust. That's bad managing. He also said Wise was available but he wasn't. I did not understand Yost's comments about this -- It was almost like he was channelling Yoda -- My only guess is that Wise was not available, and rather than deal with a follow-up question like "Why can't Wise pitch in 3 games in a row?" and then have to talk about how fragile Wise is, Yost made the Yoda comment. I agree though, bad pitching management in that game. The team defense really has me concerned as well. In that 5 run inning -- Estrada (it seemed to me) -- sort of took an Ole approach to Aquino's WP -- it was a tough pitch -- but Estrada didn't get to his knees to block that. Weeks made a pretty weak throw to the plate as well after Hall's bobble. It seems like I have not seen a good throw to the plate from the right side of the diamond this year. I think that the Brewers CAN'T bring up Ryan Braun if this team D continues to be shaky. I'd really like to see Hall moved to 3b and let Gross/Gwynn play CF.
  3. I try to say the same things and I get yelled at so be careful. You get yelled at because you lack the ability to formulate arguments w/o ripping on the posters of BF.net. For example the following: However, the brewers lost and someone needs to be blamed I guess. Its 162-0 or someone must go. No one here thinks the Brewers are going to win 110 games let alone 162. I think the majority of posters just want to not see mistakes continually repeated. Ned did not have multiple backup plans and that wouldn't have cured this. This is non-sensical But thanks for being another level headed mind here. In addition to you? -- C'mon -- Frankly speaking, I have yet to see you contribute to a thread or chat, w/o it being back-handed comments at posters on BF.net that do not happen to agree with you. We do have weekly jumps off the hoan bridge if you would like to join some of the members here. I think they meet on friday nights. Trolls live under bridges.
  4. Generally if you are looking for a variant to display you can find ones on ebay "openers" where the packaging was somehow damaged.
  5. BTW -- That is a cool item the "SHEETS" -- Generally speaking I am not a big fan of the UD signed stuff, as they use those stupid stickers. I like the "signed card" that Topps generally does, but I think UD is out of control with those stickers. --- but this is a cool set, I could totally get into it.
  6. Hmm.. Good Mystery Scooby-Doo -- My first thought was that some goon at UD dropped some-one else's letters in Carpenter's cards.. but that is Carpenter's sig. for sure. I doubt that Carpenter would sign letters not in his name -- so my guess, is that instead of "Carpenter" or "Chris" (or perhaps in addition) -- It's "Cy Young". I doubt it is an error.
  7. I think Paulie has some trouble coming next week. I hope so, I enjoy the storylines with Paulie involved.
  8. I think that the writers wanted to. 1.) Wrap up the story line on Paulie's cancer. and 2.) Remind us that Paulie is a jerk. I don't think there is a whole lot to read into it, other than that. It was a good way for Paulie to "update the viewer" -- w/o the dialogue being inefficient.
  9. Too bad it's always the same few people who can't carry on an intelligent discussion if their life depended on it. Ain't that the truth. -- I was bummed out, I didn't get to contribute my dope takes to the Imus thread (I thought the whole issue was way more sexist than racist). Are there any established and strictly moderated political message boards that promote intelligent debate between posters of varying political leanings? I highly doubt there's much of an audience for that. Not combative enough and it would probably require more than just cutting and pasting text from crappy political websites. When everyone on BFnet was doing that nationstates thing I set up a forum, hopefully designed to do exactly what you are describing. I have wanted many time to post here about a topic I am uninformed on, however, knew that it would deteriorate into lockdown. What I was hoping that it would develop into would be a forum that was mostly fueled by books than TV/Radio buffonery. Unfortunately it never reached "established" although, I think it definitely had potential. It is still running, and I would certainly pimp it out if the interest grew. I was hoping for some good book discussion. Many of the guys I work with are political/election junkies and can talk election/politics all day long. Our discussions rarely get polarized, and instead focus on the strategies, and candidates rather than personal views. I would invite anyone to PM me if interested.
  10. "If John Cougar Mellencamp wins an Oscar, I am going to be a very rich guy"
  11. Andy is now Drew...? As in AnDREW I suppose
  12. Two or three seconds of Christopher? Yeah Christopher had more time in the "next week's preview" than he did in the show -- those 2, 3 seconds were pretty effective though. "Hi T, called you to wish you a belated happy birthday" Click. Awesome
  13. I forgot to mention that I think Bobby is safe. Agreed -- I tend to think that Bobby "showed something" to Tony in that fight, in that he could take care of the family -- I don't think Tony is going to do anything to Janice's husband. I think Chris is in the cross-hairs the most.
  14. First -- I think this thread title should have "spoilers" in the title in case people live in the West or are waiting for Tivo/HBO replay. I liked the episode as well. If Bobby is so passive, why does one insult drive him over the top? I don't think it is that -- Tony has been busting Bobby for years -- this was an eruption from an accumulation of ball-busting. I was surprised that Bobby messed Tony up as bad as he did. As far as the gun thing goes -- based on my thousands of hours logged watching crime-drama/mob shows/court TV etc. One thing I have noticed -- is that when the mob executes hits, they often leave the gun at the scene. I would assume that the gun used to shoot this kid, was untraceable and Bobby didn't leave any prints. Plus I think the hit was done in Canada, so it would be pretty hard to trace that hit back to Bobby, esp., when he has never killed anyone. I think Chris is in deep doo-doo.
  15. "The situation is under control, everyone is extremely gruntled"
  16. "You get a $100 gas card, you can't put a price on that" I find the way Michael hates Toby to be incredibly funny -- he deals well with every one else's quirks and flaws, but he hates Toby. "C'mon Toby let's go ... I'm going to smack you in the head with a hammer." Creed's recount of the fight was funny as well.
  17. Also -- I don't think Extra Innings guarentees that every game is covered. That sucks though to miss opening day.
  18. If I did not have the packages, then he would be right. In all fairness you did not make that clear in your initial post.
  19. So, I programmed my directivo to record the game on 642 AND on 737 (the scheduled channel for the game) for a 6 hour block. I went to work and eagerly waited until I got home. Did you purchase extra innings? -- You won't get 737 unless you purchased extra innings -- and you won't get MLB games on FS networks outside your area -- I get the Brewers on 642 because I live in WI -- you would get the Diamondbacks on whatever FS channel they are on, however you won't get the Brewers on 642. It seems to make sense to me -- unless you purchased Extra Innings.
  20. The Dog appear dead to me. I am pretty sure that the cat is just looking for the best place to remove the skin.
  21. All kidding aside, Dennis DeYoung isn't even with them is he? Dennis DeYoung is not with Styx The drummer is dead The bassist has AIDS It's basically Tommy Shaw, and that dude with the moustache and long yellow hair. I never got into 80s metal -- I always preferred the 70s rock -- but I sure lived through it though. I always disliked Bon Jovi especially. Primarily because of the song "Runaway" -- I never got it. Some school girl doesn't get attention from her parents, so she discovers the option of being a prostitute, and that makes her happy? -- Awesome. Plus everytime I hear that awful keyboard introduction, it is like the ushering in of 2 decades of music that makes me want to mellonscoop out the eyeballs of my soul. That said, I am sure it will be a fun show for people in their late 30s. I'd certainly go to it, and I am sure feel like I got my money's worth. A lot of the metal from the 80s didn't age well for me. Where I think bands like the Police, Pretenders, Elvis Costello, etc... the music is pretty listenable today.
  22. I agree to a point -- The one that gets me is Mike Maddox -- As their are a lot of athlete Maddox's out there. I think busting people for misspelling things is a bit much -- but on the other hand learning to spell correctly should be encouraged.
  23. Asia's actually a pretty sweet band. They've gotten all the original members back, and they're all accomplished musicians in their own right. Two of the guys are from Yes, they have the drummer from ELP and the singer is from King Crimson. The guitarist, Steve Howe (Yes) is one of the best ever in my opinion. Yeah ASIA was a super-group -- but so was Damn Yankees.
  24. 32-130 is not going to happen -- I suspect that worst case scenario, they are a 55 win team. They are still better than a lot of the expansion teams that took the fields in the 60s and 70s.
  25. Bob Tewksbury -- almost won the Cy Young in 1992 ERA 2.16 Ks 90 BB 20 IP 233-- He was like this his whole career.
