  1. Drafted by the Cubs, managed by Yost, and not pissed at the world. Top-shelf dude in my opinion.
  2. In a mostly fun sort of way, that first sentence did read like, "Yeah, you want to go? Meet me at the oak tree in the courtyard after school." Got a couple of chuckles out of me this morning. Dude -- I am totally going to that guy's mom's basement and going to kick his rear. I know I need to make some sort of Harry Potter reference as well, I don't know how it fits in though.
  3. I do think it would be fun to have a "FACT/FICTION only" IGT once a season.
  4. Well, my user profile has a link to my website, which has my full name and a map to my house, if anybody really cares. Your reign of anonymous internet terror will be soon coming to a close...
  5. It will never cease to amaze me how people use the anonymity of the internet to say things they never would to someone's face. I hope you realize that the criticism of HY is not only limited here on BF.net -- He is getting picked apart for his behavior on TV, by the AP, all over other people's blogs etc. HY wrote a post, he is being foolish, if he thought it wouldn't be responded to in the manner in which it was. HY actions were in fact called out by a lot of people at the time it happened. He has been called to the table in every forum, I don't know what internet anonymity has to do with anything. People rip on Joe Morgan for what he says or writes all the time -- how is this any different? Unbelievable. I thought this board was civil up until these two threads. I would challenge you to read some other forums/blogs and read some of the things said about the HY there, and you will see that this discussion is quite civil in comparison.
  6. Can we lock this thread up and just keep it as a statement from HY to Brewerfan.net. Nothing new or good can come of this. Agreed. This statement does nothing but further cement HY as a whorish attention grabber. He did what he did, and it is what it is -- this huge post, which could have been just posted on his blog, written in the ridiculous manner in which it was, is nothing more than an attempt to extend his already extinguishing 15 minutes of infamy. I don't feel like he handled himself well after catching the HR, however, I can certainly understand getting caught up in the excitement of the moment -- but to suggest that people who took issue with what he did, are perceived to be "uneducated" is pure drivel. I would like to close with a quote from Dad of Andrew. "Oof"
  7. 91% of the poll takers on Ramblings thinks he's in need of help. 91% of Rambling's Readers are in need of help. I'd propose that instead of submitting people with stability issues to expensive doctors -- they should instead by tested by Rambling Reader Polls. Al, man, you crack me up -- and I bet you didn't even mean to do that. You are a genius http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif it is unfair for Coghlan to ask for it back. Coghlan should be able to ask for it back -- he shouldn't have to deal with getting jerked around. Do you know for sure Coghlan won't turn out to be one of those guys who refuses to give anything to fans without a price? I believe that in HY's blog he mentions Coghlan throwing him a ball in BP.
  8. I have 5, 2008 Huntsville Stars tame photos to give away. Let me know when you give away the more risque photos.
  9. Only, the guy who caught it was a grounds keeper and an employee of the Cardinals. The guy who caught Aaron's HR #755, was an employee of the Brewers, and he didn't give the ball to Aaron either
  10. Alright, i know I'm opening a can of worms here - so maybe someone can just PM me - but what is the entire story behind the Jenkins 200 ball? When Jenkins hit his 200th HR -- HY caught the ball and demanded multiple bats from Prince and others, I forget the particulars, but there was an ugly exchange as well. In his defense, he did not murder anyone or beat up any kids. 2. We can forget any kind of national media support or sympathy for the Brewers for a while (such that it was). Yeah, this is not playing well in the blogospheres.
  11. Yeah. Unfortunately, this stands to make it easier for the Cardinals' and STL media to muckrake about the Brewers. When McGwire hit #62 -- the Cardinal fan just gave the ball to Mac -- I don't think he even asked for anything.
  12. I think Ed Sedar could kill a grizzly bear.
  13. regardless of FTJ's comments. I don't think the home team or MLB has ownership of it. Otherwise, we wouldn't see these Bond's balls going up for auction and MLB taking such careful action to mark the balls to secure authenticity for the lucky owner Again, I would love to hear a lawyer's opinion on all of this... It is not as if the playing field is the boundary of the team's property -- if a ball is hit out of a stadium, that probably is different. The reason that MLB began marking balls though -- was not really primarily an ownership issue -- they were trying to prevent all sorts of fraud from happening, they would have had a publicity nightmare, even if ownership was not an issue. -- There are other reasons for authenticating as well... the ball may end up at Cooperstown, etc....
  14. Think of how much less debate about Milwaukee "classiness" would be going on right about now. For what it is worth -- I did a quick Google search, for "home run ownership" -- and this situation is getting blogged about by just about every MLB fansite -- and regardless if it fair or not, our fanbase is not looking real good.
  15. And we're all posting on an internet message board when we could be helping the community. Absolutely. You are 100% correct. However, the difference you fail to note, is that none of us here are justifying how we spend our free time by stating: "Some people post on message boards, other people take other peoples lives".
  16. I read this from HY's blog - ...some people choose to sell drugs to kids. Some people choose to abuse drugs, themselves. Some people choose to get all liquored up and drive their vehicles. Some people choose to be abusive to their wives and kids. Some people choose to rob, steal and cheat. Some people take the lives of others. His pretense is that some people are ballhawks, and then other people abuse drugs, their spouses, etc. Of course this is pure self-serving drivel. Some posters have raised their eyebrows at a hobby that entails fooling bullpen coaches into throwing them up baseballs, but no one has remotely classified this guy or his actions as criminal. The flip-side of this coin, is that while the Happy Youngster is deceiving visiting ball teams -- other people are donating their time to coach little league, delivering meals to the elderly, tutoring students that need extra help -- and doing a lot of other things that benefit their community. At the end of the day I am just glad that the HY is ball-hawking instead of committing murder, drunk-driving, and beating up women and children that he could otherwise engage in.
  17. Well then, he should be more than willing to pony up for it. What's the minimum wage for a MLB player now? $400,000? Hanley still needs a bat to hit with.
  18. I don't understand the opinion that a home run ball should ever be just simply returned to the batter who hit it. Once it makes the seats and ends up in a fan's hands, to me that just seems like the end of the story. Done deal. Transaction complete. I don't agree with this. The ball is clearly property of the home team. In the NBA, if the ball goes into the crowd -- it comes back out. If a MLB player loses his hat in the crowd going after a foul ball, it is not lost. Your ticket allows you to watch the game, and I think that is pretty much it. MLB allows a lot of fans to keep balls hit out of play, but I certainly don't think they relinquish ownership of an item once it leaves the playing field. One of the lawyer types could certainly correct me if I am off-base. Just curious as to why this thread isn't locked yet, with people making blatant personal attacks on a BF.netter and posting ridiculous speculations without any basis or factual information. This story has been on ESPN, and picked up by the AP -- it is hardly void of factual information. You can't tell me that they couldn't part with a Ramirez bat Hanley needs something to hit with -- The Marlins are on the road, It's not like they brought Ramirez souvenir bats on the road trip with them. I think it is very reasonable for the Marlins to deny a specific bat request when they are on the road. Balls are one thing, bats/gloves/jerseys -- that's a whole other series of considerations. I don't think just being a member of this site precludes you from any discussion or criticism of you actions - especially something like this that is getting a lot of media attention Agreed -- I think that the HY is certainly trying to embrace his "celebrity" status. If you are going to give interviews that get published by the AP and end up on Sportcenter, then you probably need to ensure you are not coming off like a total dipwad and embarrassing your fellow fans. I can't help but think that his story couldn't come at a much worse time for Milwaukee and the Brewers. Yeah, regardless of who said what, I think public opinion is not going to judge Milwaukee well. I am almost certain, not a lot of people are going to sympathize with a "ball hawk". I think the sad thing to me, is that if you read both accounts, it seems like both sides agree that the incident got ugly. It is unfortunate that a night at the ballpark and what should have been an exciting event for both the fan and player turned so sour.
  19. Homer is a dippity-doo-wad
  20. Inspired by Jamie's family project of gardening -- I thought I'd post a new video of my son's gardening project -- however, instead of tomatoes, he is planting other dudes. Please rate, comment, subscribe, etc. so he can learn about math and geography and perhaps will reconsider his chosen career path of running into other dudes. Now chock full of Iron Maideny goodness
  21. OK -- I am not big on buddies, clubs or gardening -- but I am subscribed and looking forward to the next installment... I took the liberty of embedding your video -- so others can find it easy. Good job!
  22. you may want to put a link here Jamie
  23. Would they really send him back down, or do they try to return Bill Hall to a super-sub role? I'd hope they would continue to give Hall time so that he doesn't lose any regained trade value. We have Counsell to back up the IF, we really don't need the "super sub".
  24. Interestingly... The Brewers have 10SB + 9CS = 19 Attempts.... 9 NL teams have more SBs than the Brewers have total attempts (>19) Only one NL team has less attempts than the Brewers (ATL 13). The Brewers have one of the leagues worst SB% though. We haven't demonstrated an ability to steal effectively so far this year -- but it's not like we are causing significant damage either.
  25. but some guys are good at this...a blanket stop order for the team will cost us runs My guess the general approach Macha took was to prevent from calling players out in the press. I suspect that all this means, is that the Brewers will pick their spots better.
