  1. You're "cool"? That's rather presumptuous! Rydog is cooler than Samuel Jackson listening to Miles Davis in an igloo. I am sure the Giants feel that Hardy/Parra is not enough for Cain... Agreed -- they will probably get a better offer than that.
  2. If it happens I want my tag changed. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gifIf it doesn't happen it should be changed to Nostradumbass
  3. I love Warren Spahniel. I think it is a winner
  4. C'mon Homer - you could have at least given me a mullet family. Fail. And you know it.
  5. Warren Spahniel
  6. Yeah I'm not asking for a strict platoon either, just more days off for Hart to see if maybe there is a solution on the bench. I'd sit Hart against heavy slider starters and start him against heavy curve ball pitchers since he kills the curve ball but can't hit a slider to save his life. I think this is very reasonable and probably the place to start -- Gerut has only had 2 starts since the trade -- he probably should have more than that by now.
  7. Ender is correct. People are judging Gerut and Catalanotto on a handful of scattered AB's as a Brewer. False, all he said was hyperbole. No one here thinks Gerut is a ~.120 hitter or that Catalanotto is a ~.200 hitter. Give one of them some steady AB's and let's see what they do. There is a risk in doing this. They both have a track record of major league success unlike a Nelson or even Duffy. So does Corey Hart. Look what TGJ is doing in San Diego. Why? It is just a handful ABs -- much like you are scolding people for doing with Gerut+Catalanatano.
  8. Would it decrease the value of the hat drastically if I added him to it? Increase it? Generally speaking -- outside of photos -- getting items signed by multiple players decreases the value of an item. The exception to this rule, would be getting bats/balls/caps signed by players that are linked together... Maris & Mantle Spahn & Sain Aaron & Matthews Bagwell & Biggio Phil & Joe Neikro etc... I wouldn't have Niekro sign the hat -- I'd have him sign another Braves hat, and perhaps start a collection of Braves hats signed by former Milw. Braves. If you go through the trouble to have Niekro sign something -- I'd have him sign his own single item definitely.
  9. That clip was funny, but man, Fallon is horrible.
  10. Also surprised they apparently have Elizabeth Berkley on board for this "reunion", but I guess her career hasn't exactly done much since "Showgirls." She has been in a few other movies in supporting roles, and I think has done well.
  11. I agree there is a problem with throwing Corey every day but Gerut or Catalanotto aren't the answer. At this point I would tend to agree. People are still judging Gerut on his 20 AB sample as a Brewer for some reason, I have no idea why so many people think he is horrible. Two things... 1.) Gerut is going to have to produce at some point -- the Brewers are not going to let him keep hitting at a .200 clip for many more ABs -- Nelson only got 20 ABs as well. I am not saying this is necessarily smart or prudent -- but there is a definite tangible risk to letting that sample size get bigger. 2.) No one said Gerut is horrible -- and even if he is horrible, the only relevant question is, is he less horrible than Hart. That said, Gerut has only put up a .552 OPS against RHP this year, in his SD AB's -- Hart has put up a .716. There is no compelling reason to think that Gerut will be significantly better. Gerut has had a significantly worse 2009 than Hart. Gerut's career splits vs. RHP: .281/.341/.467 I don't think Gerut's career stats hold a lot of water -- since the vast majority of them happened in 2005 before he missed 2+ seasons to injury. Gerut's career splits vs. RHP: .281/.341/.467 (2008) Gerut did well in 2008 -- this is the best argument for giving him starts -- Gerut had a better 2008 than Hart for sure against RHP -- but he ended the season hurt, and I wonder if Gerut's 2009 struggles are perhaps injury related. The time to start platooning Hart was last July. He cannot hit any RHP who doesn't rely on a curve ball. I don't disagree that Hart should be platooned -- I just think we don't have that guy on our roster.
  12. I figured out how to incorporate bacon into chex mix.
  13. he grew tiny bats out of his chin
  14. If those guys are correct it means no player has ever gotten his 3000th hit in a Yankee uniform.
  15. Boggs R. Henderson Winfield
  16. If only for the reason that he'd finally be able to put up an astounding show in the HR derby.... I am pretty sure that no insurance company would cover this event.
  17. Thanks for the pic, dude. I think that 1977 Topps of the Boomer is the greatest Brewer baseball card of all time. Neither one of those T206s are hard to get -- Super fantastic collection..
  18. Hank Aaron #44 Brewers/Braves... Jackie Robinson by everyone is the obvious one.
  19. Can someone refresh my memory? Didn't Turnbow accept his minor league assignment last year, because he would have lost his salary if he didn't? Someone can correct me if I do not recall things correctly.... Turnbow was put on outright waivers which are non-revocable, and used when a team wants to remove a player from the 40 man, but keep them in the minors. The difference between Hall and Turnbow, is that (presumably) the Brewers would not want to remove Hall from the 40man as they did with Turnbow -- Turnbow could have been claimed, and the claiming team would have only have had to pay a pro-rated part of the minimum salary. Hall's case (again presumably) would be more like Bush's where the Brewers would keep him on the 40man. Hall has enough service time that he can tell everyone to pound sand. Turnbow on the other hand had enough service time to refuse the assignment, had he cleared waivers -- however, he didn't have enough service time to keep his salary. In conclusion, there isn't a situation you can't DFA your way out of.
  20. Ohhhh.... I like the Angry Whopper. I wish I could have one particle transported to me right now. Yeah the Kingons (or gainfully employed, non-SW geek) probably have you on their radar. It's ok though, I'm sure you will meet some equally hot and cool chick playing online battling games. It's a total lock, roll the bones dude.
  21. Star Trek is like the "Mountain Lightning" to the Star Wars "Mountain Dew"
  22. Who the hell are the Kingons?
  23. I wasn't aware that was an option. Someone is going to steal your righteous girlfriend dude.
  24. Put FTJ in the cone of shame. Yeah. I messed up -- I misread what TLB said -- I thought he was punting on Parra and Hart -- My bad! Star Wars still sucks though...
  25. The T206's are Randall and Shad Barry I knew I recognized the one -- FYI there is at least one other Milw. T206 -- Dan McGinn I think. The George Scott print was done by an artist, John Gehring, that sets up at the Gonzaga Hall show. He made the prints when Scott was coming for a signing. Whenever you get a second, I'd love to see a squared up picture of that.
