  1. Trading Inman for a rental players is worth a chance at the playoffs or World Series. Team has a great chance this year to make a run, but we should wait so that the other teams in this division catch up to us or pass us next year? Inman is a long ways from Milwaukee, and if he brings the final piece to a championship it is time to move on.
  2. I agree. They are not playing at a level that can win the world series. That's the goal. Those first 2 innings were repulsive. That might be the weakest ball Bush hits all year, and A-Ram made a great play to rob Hart. Bush ks and Hart gets a hit we are talking a whole new game. Estrade does need to be moved out of the 5 hole. Maybe when Weeks comes back if Hart stays hot.
  3. He's a pitcher who has had fantastic success that has never pitched above High-A ball. Let's make sure we're not counting on him to be the next Carlos Villanueva or even the next Gallardo at this point, as he's probably 2 years away from that I believe Inman will be a chip that is traded to shore up part of this team around the trade deadline. My guess is for another arm in the pen. He has along way to Milwaukee and if the big league team can get help for a run it will be time to do it. They will get more arms in this years draft to replace him.
  4. The Mustache usually doesn't value relievers that highly, either. Cordero was the exception, not the rule. Melvin was looking to get best value in trading Carlos, so took the best package. Not sure that Coco is of great value to Doug.
  5. Abreu has hit since the All Star game, he was huge for the Yankees last year. That said he has been terrible so far this season. End he has hit but not with the power that he did prior. Funny that Yankee staduim should not have hurt him this much because he was a lefty.
  6. some people just drool over other teams prospects because of the press...i'm not buying it on this guy.. I would agree with you on this one. There seems to be a lot of press out there that pump up prospects left and right. Salty did not hit last year but the potential he would have as hitting catcher is what people are looking at. Personally I feel he will be moving to 1B soon, to big for a catcher.
  7. Next time I see Bill Hall out there in clown shoes playing CFer I'm going to scream. Same goes when Weeks brings out his frying pan glove like he did Tuesday night. Now if T-Bow and Shouse keep blowing things I'm going to have to see if the Brewers will let me throw my 60mph fastball in the 8th also. Vern what about that??http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  8. It would basically be like reinserting Carlos Lee into the lineup with better defense. We are getting Bobby Abreau they guy that has struggled to hit since he won the home run contest. Last year he was not hitting in the Phillies band box, and is still struggling to hit. No way is he even close to Carlos Lee when it comes to hitting.
  9. i'm not a fan of salty at all and would strongly prefer not trade for him...theres a lot of unjustified hype surrounding the guy and i don't think he'll be a star player He gets a lot of press because he is a power hitting catcher. Its about as justified as all the hype that Corey Hart gets on this site. Your right that he may not be a star player, but all he has to do is play catcher and he will be a huge addition for any team.
  10. Salty is a fine catcher, but I think the Braves will keep him an move him over to 1B or possibly LF. He is like six foot 5 inches, that is huge for a catcher. Breweres would have to deal a couple of prospects to get him unless they do a Yo for Salty move.
  11. Good point, end, but I can't seem to find anything about Humberto Sanchez this year. Is he hurt, or did he have a name change or something? I believe that his elbow finally gave out, that was a concern when it looked like he was going to be traded. Abreau seems to have lost it, I would rather stay away from him unless the Yanks are going to pay a lot of the contract he has.
  12. Capellan, Zach Jackson, and Parra should get us Otsuka. Some might claim that is too much, but it might win the Central for us. That is not over paying for a proven bullpen arm. I just dont see the Rangers giving him up with out a replacement closer for next year. Capellan would be the best option from this trade, but has not proven he can handle the big leagues.
  13. I am still mind boggled as to why Melvin wanted this guy and plan on calling WKTY today on the local show to tell them to ask Melvin why he is still on the roster next time he's on. What OFer would you have taken off the Rangers roster at the time of the trade??
  14. Not sure that the Rangers would trade Otsuka. I believe that Gagne is only signed for one year and they would want to have options for next for a closer.
  15. The Brewers will face 3 lefties in the next 6 days, Olsen, Willis, and Lilly. This why Mench is still on the team. Gwynn and Jenks are not going to get it done against the lefties.
  16. Anybody...I mean anybody who thinks Turnbow is still a money pitcher just really need to watch this guy more often. That is why the Brewers need to pay Coco and get it done with.
  17. Bad loss for the Crew unless they get the bats going in the last two innings.
  18. I think Russ is saying is that more often than not if you give up 11 hits in 6 innings without striking many guys out you are getting lucky. Eventually those hits will string together and bite you some place south of your equator. Maybe he is a getting some good luck instead of the bad luck he has had in previuos years. I think the blister still had more to do with it than anything.
  19. For as much griping I do about Sheets I was impressed last night. He was coming back from a blister that effects how he holds the ball. Start of the game was horrible but he beared down and kept the team in the game without his best stuff. He keeps pitching like this and gives team a chance to win each time out that is great. When was the last time a pitcher striking out 10 batters gaurantee a win??
  20. In all seriousness, he clearly did not have his best stuff. This could have been a variety of reasons. I was also dissapointed with the 2 k's and 10+ hits, but, he put the team in a position to win after a rough start. I will hope for 6-10 k's next game. If he doesnt and we win, I will still be fine with it. Ball was up in the first but after that he did a fine job. Care less how many Ks he has in each game as long as the team has a chance to win.
  21. Whether or not the Brewers win the game, of course, is going to depend in part on the offense. They gotta score some runs. Offense will be the key to them winning the game tonight. Sheets can set the tone early by getting through the first couple of innings and let the bats scrounge up some runs against Smoltz.
  22. Going to the game tonight and hope Sheets puts on a great performance tonight to break the losing streak.
  23. If last year should have taught us all a lesson, we need depth. Now that we have depth we should trade it away?? Where are all the posters that bang the keyboard about we need flexibilty on the bench and some pinch hitting options. This is what depth gives you. Graffy would be an option at 1B as he played there some for the Royals. Rottino is not even an option to be a 25 man he is an emergency catcher and a weak 3B.
  24. I would not do that deal. We would loose power to gain speed with this trade, makes no sense unless team is banking on Braun to come and start pumping the ball out of the park. Hall is only an above average SS when it comes to his stick, his defense is average at best in that spot.D-Ray would likely looking for more in a trade. When has the front office come out and stated that Gwynn was a future starter??
  25. I don't agree with this sentiment -- The man lost his son, and that sort of grief tends to skew a person's perspective. I doubt he sees this as a "get rich" opportunity -- rather it is some way of taking care of his son. Joey not start a big deal or anything. But how is this taking care of his son. Is he thinking that this might clear his name of wrong doing or that it will pay for any bills he had out there? I just dont see how this is taking care of his son. Maybe this lawyer convinced him he has a case also.
