  1. Cincy is going to want arms if they trade Griffey. Sending them two pedistran OFers Jenks, Gwynn jr or Gross is not going to get it done. If they move Griffey they have Hamilton, Freel, and Dunn in the OF and none the prior Brewers players would start over the Reds 3 guys. Inman would most likely have to be in the deal and a player like Parra or Sarfate also. Cincy needs arms since they will have to over pay pitchers to come to play in that bandbox.
  2. I don't see Abreu coming here and helping. He had one hot streak all year, and has been showing a decline in skills for the past couple of years. He can still walk with the best of them but his ability to hit and hit with power are fading fast.
  3. 2 would it make sense to move him to the 5 hole now that billy is out and give gwynn some good pitches to hit or move weeks to that spot and see if it gets him out of his slump? Where are moving Gywnn to so that he sees good pitches?? Hart is at leadoff, and Hardy needs to stay at 2 so he can see the fastballs. Weeks would be interesting at 3 but with that wrist not sure he would provide the pop in that spot. Braun has certainly showed belongs in the 3 spot for a while.
  4. How about trading Gwynn and Mench for Dye? The White Sox are desperate for a CF and Gwynn for all his offensive shortcomings is a good defensive CF. White Sox already have players like this in their system so why would they trade for Gwynn. Brian Anders and Ryan Sweeney have been out in CF. How about we just support him and hope he does well. He's a young kid who is going to get a shot to play for a few weeks and we'll see how he does. First let the kid show he has a reason to get some support. Maybe like getting on base and driving the ball so he is not the weakest link to the offense. I'm not sure he is going to get all the playing time at CF or any OF spot while Hall is out anyway.
  5. I didn't realize how bad Gwynn jr was doing at AAA, guess the leopard could not change his spots. If Hall is out for a good amount of time they are going to really think about bringing someone in. I like Gabe Gross but not sold he can get the job done day in and day out. Jenks playing fulltime would kill this team, he would go back to whaling at all kinds of pitches and strand runner after runner.
  6. This move would be us moving a young pitcher to them for Sanders. GM comes from Atlanta and those guys love to stock up on arms. Sanders would be a nice solid player to add, but with Hall injury I think they may need to get some a bit better.
  7. Lofton would be a solid choice to bring in if Bill Hall is out for a while. He could bat at the top of the lineup and move Hart down into a run prdoucing spot.
  8. If Hall is out for a while the team needs to make a trade for an OFer to replace him. Gywnn jr is not going to produce enought bunt base hits to overcome the loss of Hall's bat.
  9. Suppan is here because he can eat up innings and the younger pitchers did not need to be rushed up from the minors. If the Brewers really want to resign Ben Sheets they will get it done.
  10. I think it would be great for him to finally get to the post season after all these years here. It would be nice as this team is showing that they can play with the big boys. And I would love to see him finish up his career in Milwaukee and break Younts HR club record. Hope this never happens. Yount hopefully will hold the record till Prince breaks it. Yount= Hall of Famer Jenks = maybe Brewer Walk of Fame.
  11. Where does Millar fit in?? He would be a huge liabilthy out in LF and he lacks Mench's power. Reds are going to want some very solid young players to take Griffey off their hands. Jenks is not going to get it done, Vargas and another young starter might be a good starting point.
  12. I feel the pitching is fine. Starting pitchers more than anything are hard to get a handle on. There are so many factors that go into their success each time out. 1. Are they pitching strikes on that day. 2. Is the defense making plays behind them. 3. Is the offense giving them run support. There are other factors that I can't think of right now.
  13. If Jack is going to leave it will be in the next couple of years. Right now with a lof his picks producing he will be a hot name.
  14. I for one vote that we keep him on for another year. A proven veteran LF with his credentials would cost us far more than $9 mil to sign as a free agent, and LaPorta has yet to take a pro at bat. Should we keep him? Vote No!!! Credentials?? Do you mean unable to hit left handed pitching and prolonged slumps during the season. Ability to have a great month or two during the second half. Jenks is having a nice year but that is because he is playing to his strenghts this year. There will be players out there and at or under 9 mil that can do the same job.
  15. I think the consensus is that Vargas is gone after this year. So that is only one spot and Yo would be taking that spot, still no opening for him.
  16. You are not goning to get Loretta for Graffy. For the very little gain you might get with Loretta over Graffy, you are going to have to give up some kind of prospect to do this and I don't think you get the value.
  17. Yankees are not going to move Hughes unless they get a boat load back. Talk of Jenks is crazy he would not even be a starter in their OF. Hart and Hall would be better options in that Hall could move to 3B if A-Rod leaves after the season. Hart could take over CF next year if the get rid of Damon. I would be upset though if the Brewers traded weither away this season as they are key parts to this division winning team.
  18. I would like to know who Villanueva is goig to replace in the rotation next year?? Sheets, Suppan, Yo, Cappy, Bush/Vargas. I don't see the room for him to be starting, unless Brewers clear a spot for him. Lot of talk about him closing, but I don't think he will be the first option to close games at the start of next season. Maybe I'm missing something but he really doesn't have a dominating pitch or pitches to strike people out.
  19. When it comes to batting these two might be similar players but when it comes to the OF Eric Davis was electric. He made amazing catch after catch and his aggressive style is why his career was short, and also the hard carpet that they have in Cincy.
  20. Im one of the biggest Hall fans here and I in know way consider Hall to be a show boater, he just got caught up in the moment yesterday of thinking he hit ANOHTER walk-off HR. No need to get caught up in the moment, just play the game and hustle around the bases. Lack of hustle could have cost the team a win. Bill Hall should be the last person to be looking to see if he hit it out, he seems to have overcome his early troubles in CF by hard work, dedication and hustle. He shoudl apply those things to his every at bat.
  21. Gobble might be an option, but I don't think they give up Soria at this point. They also have a couple of up and coming arms so they may not be too fast to pick up arms. Thompson is a fill in for this year so the young guys learn in the minors.
  22. It use to be worse. Appeal would be help up till the player has an off day to get to New York or till his team traveled to the East Coast. I would call it a strong union more than anything.
  23. The Brewers traded a certain rental player last year to the Rangers. The Rangers gave up a deposed closer with a high ERA, a part time outfielder and an oft injured AAAA player. Yes Cordero working out great makes it look different, but to Texas they gave up almost nothing of real value. First off you forgot to include one of the top OF prospects the Brewers had went to the Rangers. Coco has some bad early outing otherwise his numbers were solid as ever the Rangers just never gave him another chance. When are people here going to get it that Coco is was not washed up when we got him. Gwynn is a guy who could start for the Sox right now. They may want a Philip Hughes and if they do they should just hang on to Buerhle for draft picks and hope Williams chooses wisely. Sure he could start over the guys the White Sox have but he is no upgrade over them when it comes to hitting. Gwynn maybe be a bit in the field.
  24. (1) Playoff experience has independent value, so it might make sense to use/get a somewhat lesser but playoff experienced guy rather than a somewhat better player who lacks playoff experience. (2) The team should use/get the best proven player, regardless of playoff experience, but minor league performance is categorically not enough to make a player trustworthy in a pennant race. It is very unwise to stick a minor leaguer in the pennat race. No track record to have any value. or (3) Some players' minor league performance might be strong enough to make them trustworthy in a pennant race, but Rottino's minor league performance proves he isn't one of those players. Rottino has hit against AAA players not against big leaguers, he also not ripping it up like some think he is. Just trying to make sure I understand. Thanks
  25. As for Rottino, all he has to do is match Mench's 682 OPS, and he makes the team better. By giving the team a 3rd catcher, it gives the team a load of versatility. Estrada can be used as a PH in his offdays. It can now PR for the slowfooted catchers, which Rottino can do himself. He has 10 steals this year and had 12 last year. Rottino also provides depth at 3B, as well as 1B, where both Miller and Graffanino have made starts this year. Have you really seen this guy play defense?? He looked horrible this spring and now all of a sudden he can play 1B or 3B. People thought Weeks or Braun were bad if this butcher gets a lot time out there we would be in trouble. Mench is not going to be replaced by an unproven guy, they would more likely get a vet to fill that void that has some playoff experience.
