  1. Seriously, what are the odds of that happening? It was nice to meet everyone, glad to put a face with all the names.
  2. 37,521
  3. Where ever you sign make your you have the option of playing winter ball with another club.
  4. Quite possibly my new favorite post of all time.
  5. Just a reminder to anyone that still hasn't returned their invoices, the Brewers are still offering tickets to full & 20+ game seat holders. As far as I know they plan to move forward with everyone else after today. So if you were on the fence and missed the deadline this is your last chance to change your mind.
  6. Anyone really think Shouse wants to be gone right now, in the middle of a pennant race? He knows how important he is to the bullpen. But at the end of the day, it comes down to his family. And not "his cousins wedding" type of family, it's the birth of his child. Every time I hear or read someone talk about this I roll my eyes. I think it's very selfish (for fans) to even question why a player is absent at the time like this. In a world where athletes are notorious for being poor role models we're talking about a couple of guys who are absent to be with their wifes during childbirth, whats wrong with this picture?
  7. Krembles already joined the team. And to answer the original question, don't read anything into it. Kremblas joins the Brewers every September once his team is eliminated. I don't know if that SOP for all teams but it's nothing new to the Brewers.

    9-11

For some reason I find myself thinking about the last 30 minutes of sleep I had that morning all the time. The thought of all this happening while I was sleeping just bothers me in some irrational way. I've never been able to put my finger on it. It almost feels like guilt, but I don't know why. My girlfriend called me twice. The first time was to see if I was awake. After that call I dragged myself out of bed, parked on the couch and turned on the Tv. I fired up the Tivo and I laid down on the couch in a semi awake state listening to the tv. A short time later she called again with the news. I was so mad at myself for sleeping/watching "King of Queens" while this was unfolding on TV. I'm still upset about it. Weird, I know.

    9-11

I was sleeping. My son was 4 at the time. I woke up when my girlfriend called me and said "Did you hear? A plane hit the WTC" I didn't believe her. I went out and turned on CNN and watched as the second tower was hit. I called my Dad and we just watched together in silence over the phone. I watched all day. I've always been big on archives. I've got stacks and stacks of newspapers, VHS tapes, CD's & DVD's and after sitting in shock for a couple of minutes I pressed record on the tivo and grabbed a VHS tape. I wanted to have a record of that day that wouldn't be tainted by future biases. I figured that one day my kids will be learning about what happened and I'll let them watch.
  10. I know I don't look the same as I did before I had two kids. My girlfriend came out ok though. Judging from what I read on CNN.com I was expecting to see a huge, bloated Spears with twinkies and corn dogs strapped to her arms. I saw her and thought, "Hmm. She looks fine." and then I started to feel bad for all the less the perfect girls out there that have to listen to everyone complain that Britney was "Soooo fat". Jeez, tough to be a girl much? And one more thing, why was this even news? And if you can make the case for it being news, can you put a reporter on it that writes like....I don't know - a reporter (I'm looking at you CNN). I though I was reading a cheesy paper back novel. "Jamie Foxx sang a few lines from the hit song "Golddigger." Champagne, and not tequila, was his drink of choice. He spent much of the evening swigging from a bottle of Dom Perignon as an assortment of women danced around him. A brunette in skin-tight jeans and a tank top flashed her breasts repeatedly. Foxx, sporting black sunglasses and a do-rag, smiled brightly. "It's crazy up in here," he crowed."
  11. It's "real" in that they do exist. Thats a real producer and a real camera man and I just looked this part up, but apparently they do live in a real city. (BTW, way to drop the lingo - crib, very nice) Shock Value? Ratings Created? No, this generation is kids is the brightest yet (just ask'em). They would see right through something like that. I think once I turned 25, I realized MTV was no longer relevant - and I'm sure I was way late with that bit of insight. Once I turned 30 (this year) I manually removed MTV from Tivos on screen guide. Now if you excuse me, todays the day I swap my shoes and designer jeans for some "trousers" and "loafers". I think I'll get one of them eyeglass chains too. Oh, and maybe some eye glasses! No more contacts for this guy - angry's up the blood.
  12. Team Canada, you read my mind. I just spent the last hour going through box scores and game logs and even skimming the archives looking at the losses that Braun had an error in. Nice list.
  13. If I didn't think it would be in somewhat bad taste (out of context at least) I'd change my signature to "Scranton? I think I dated a black girl." Classic.
  14. MTV is still around?
  15. It's a local piece in a Denver newspaper written by a guy who spent the past 17 years in Chicago covering the Cubs & Sox, I hardly expect much objectivity from him on the subject.
  16. In a closet, on an old computer I have a program that uses some sort of "smart algorithm" to upconvert photo's without significant loss of quality. I paid something like $75 for this software because none of the "free" software even came close to helping me. It works "ok" (actually it's pretty hit or miss). I have a different program on this computer that doesn't seem to work quite as well. Anyway, I tried running this photo through but it looks terrible. Part of the problem is that that photo is a degraded version of it's original. Instead of shrinking the original photo -which keeps all of the quality of the original at a smaller size - someone compressed the original file so much that it left big blocky chunks all over the photo. I tried.
  17. If you want to inquire without addressing the subject of his suspension you could always send him an email saying, "Hey, I was having a problem with my paypal account, just making sure my payment got to you ok". That way you give him a chance to respond without embarrassing him. Do you have any idea why he got suspended? If he made it through 500 transactions with positive feedback I'd say you have decent odds that he'll honor his end of the deal. At least I hope he does.
  18. Sorry to hear about your problem. I never had a problem with Netflix. Their turnaround time was always fantastic. My favorite Netflix experience was when "I" (see: Girlfriend) mistakenly sent them the wrong disc back. She meant to send back whatever we rented but somehow she put one of my own dvd's (one of my Futurama disc's) in the envelope instead. We didn't realize it for about a week. By that time I figured it was long gone. I called and told them I still had their disc and that they had mine. I really only called to give them a heads up as I had no anticipation of ever getting that disc back. Well fast forward about a month and out of the blue in the mail is my Futurama DVD and a letter thanking me for being a customer. I though that was cool. I'm a sucker for good customer service.
  19. I know what you mean. Last summer I was working 60-70 hour's a week. Then towards the middle of the summer I was transfered within my company. Suddenly I was only working 45 hours a week. I'd get out at 3 or 4pm and I was like "my goodness, this is really nice." I was hitting the batting cages everyday, I was getting home in time for supper, I was going to baseball games. It was great, to bad it didn't last.
  20. I 100% agree with this assessment. I loved the Packers but the over saturation of team on tv, on the radio, in the papers...it drove me away. I haven't watched a Packer game start to finish in probably seven years.
  21. Brewers without a doubt.
  22. Yeah, the only time the Brewers used the pull overs that year was in few spring training games. Thats the reason that are baseball card photos with him in the pullovers. Once the season started the button down script style jerseys were used.
  23. Is it my imagination or did the description change from "Game Used" to "Vintage" jersey?
  24. Yep, as of today. He was removed to make room for Ray King. Melvin says he talked to a few clubs today and expects to trade him in the next few days.
  25. I call BS on that being an actual "Game Used" jersey. I only question it because: Dave Parkers name is not sewn into or above the tag. MLB jerseys only use a numerical size, for example 44. This one reads "Adult 44" And it's a size 44? I just peaked at the Gabe Gross jersey hanging behind me and thats a size 48. I kind of doubt he squeezed into a 44 towards the end of his career Parker only played in Milwaukee for one year, 1990. Other than a few exhibition games in March, they moved to the script style jerseys in 1990.
