  1. Anyone wanna say Weeks doesn't have terrible baseball IQ again?
  2. Yep, when we're going "all in" this year, we should have our best players on the team.Agree with that. The worst part is we could make 3-4 moves to improve the MLB club without even trading anybody and it would make a pretty big difference.Braddock, Green, Boggs in; Herrera/Estrada, 1 of Yuni/Wilson/Counsell, Kotsay out.
  3. I'm with you on that. All that should matter is production, and he has been great this year. J.C. Romero just got DFA'd by the Phillies, I wouldn't mind picking him up.Yep, when we're going "all in" this year, we should have our best players on the team.
  4. So much for our LOOGY...I still said we should've kept Braddock, no matter how late he got to the game. He could get there in the 7th and pitch right away for all I care.
  5. Roenicke really needs to start benching Betancourt at least 3 games a week. We have 2 other SS on the roster, no reason Betancourt should start every game.
  6. What the hell was Weeks doing. His baseball IQ is cognitively disabled.
  7. I was just going to post that. Greinke's peripherals look great (gets his strikeouts, doesn't walk guys) but the balls that get hit get hit hard and a lot out of the park. Eventually it seems like his bad-luck percentages will come back to the norm but when? Also, this umpire seems to be giving everything to Garza and nothing to Greinke, at least according to FoxTrax.
  8. Can we start complaining yet? That was terrible defense.
  9. Greinke is throwing some terrible pitches and some great pitches today. There doesn't seem to be any in-between.
  10. Just to be clear, I hope he does well. But I am not going to get excited about a guy hitting .200 over his time here. But I will take the bag on the doorstep. Were you excited about Nieves' .140 average then? Like I said, just because he hits .200 doesn't mean he's terrible. He's a backup catcher who has power and an OBP 100 points higher than his average. Most starting catchers are below average offensively so I don't know what you'd expect out of a backup. He's better than Nieves and that's all that matters. Nobody is acting like he's our savior, he's just an upgrade. And every team should be looking to upgrade, no matter how significantly.
  11. Do people forget about Nieves dropping Kotsay's ball that hit him square in the glove, leading to a run that should've been an out? Just because Kottaras has a passed ball in his first inning back doesn't mean that will be the case all year. And he is also not terrible offensively. He might have a bad average but he hits for power and draws walks. Nieves does none of those.
  12. Well, that's gonna give ammo back to any Nieves supporters...
  13. That was my immediate thought when I heard him make that statement. So far it seems like Roenicke ignores stats completely and just uses his eyes. He's talked about how McGehee looks better at the plate (despite little XBH, low BA, low OPS, etc.), how Kotsay looks like he can still cover CF (despite all various defensive metrics saying he is useless), how Loe has good movement on his sinker (despite it staying up in the zone giving up a ton of runs and hits), and now how Herrera has a funky pitch (despite the fact that it gets murdered by righties). Somebody should just print off all these stats, shove them in this face, and ask why, despite this evidence, he still does the things he does.
  14. I didn't find it that funny. It was basically an impression of Will Ferrell doing an impression of Harry Caray. And it was a pretty bad impression. He had the face but the voice wasn't very good. I guess it was decent for a guy who isn't a comedian but I didn't really laugh.
  15. I thought this was pretty funny: http://ronroenickestolemybaseball.files.wordpress.com/2011/06/nieveswillcatch.png?w=405&h=594
  16. My whole point was it wasn't disrupting his performance so why send him down unless it was disciplinary. I think with the way our bullpen has performed as of late, we need our best relievers here. Now we basically have two ROOGYs and 1 LOOGY on the team. Loe and Dillard could pitch to multiple batters but if they are lefties, they really shouldn't be. Braddock could pitch an entire inning (though he rarely did) and I think he should have remained with the team if his performance wasn't suffering. Like I said, we don't have all the details so until I get them, I'm leaning towards disciplinary (because of all the being late talk).
  17. I wish they could tell us a little bit more because this doesn't seem like it deserves a demotion. He's been pitching well, his velocity is still up, so it doesn't seem like it's been affecting him like it was earlier in the year. Either there's more to the story that they aren't telling us or this is disciplinary (IMO).
  18. Well, this should have secured the series win but it's nice to get a win nonetheless.
  19. It is because his groundballs happen to all be right at guys instead of through holes, there is no reason to think Hawkins won't completely implode into a 3.50+ ERA at some point going forward, he has shown nothing good so far. If there is any positive to Hawkins it is that his control has been good and that is generally a recipe for success but when you can't get the ball past any bats all the control in the world isn't going to really help that much long term. Yeah but at this point, Hawkins has had a lot of success and Loe hasn't. Why not go with the hot hand. I know stats will show there is really no such as a "hot hand" but Hawkins has had success so far, why not give him and Braddock a shot?
  20. He will after they tie it up next inning. I really hope this isn't true. edit: Axford in to close it out. Please don't let this be an adventure...
  21. It's good to see Lucroy understands what he needs to do in that situation. If only he weren't buried in the order...
  22. That still scares me because he's in his early 40s and probably shouldn't be pitching multiple days in a row. But if it's the 8th, he will be out there no matter what, which would probably lead to fatigue and probable injury. I've been saying use a combo of guys depending on the situation.
