  1. Round 21: 1B Mike Nemeth - UConn http://www.uconnhuskies.com/sports/m-basebl/mtt/nemeth_mike00.html UConn's all-time hits leader, compared to Casey Kotchman.
  2. Round 20: RHP Brandon Williamson - Dallas Baptist University http://9theranch.com/college-baseball-midlands-williamson-at-front-of-dallas-baptists-run/ Another taller pitcher at 6'3, though only 180 pounds.
  3. I'm all for getting more pitching and defense, which is why I wanted a few MIs (specifically SS). Right now, we really don't have any good defensive SSs in the system (some may argue we don't have any offensive ones either, including the MLB level). We did draft a few SS so I'm happy now. It would've been really nice to get Lindor/Baez but I guess I have to get over that.
  4. Brewers finally draft MI at 551, Round 18: SS Christopher McFarland out of Lufkin (TX) HS.
  5. 6 SS and a 2B went in Round 15. The MIs are out there. Maybe the Brewers just don't feel they need depth at that position. I know you want to take the best player available but after a certain point, doesn't the talent kind of equal out? I mean, how big of a difference is there between the 400th-best rated player who's a pitcher and the 410th-best player who's a SS?
  6. 2 more OF's: Andrew Cain out of UNC-Wilmington and Mallex Smith out of High School (FL) Maybe the Brewers didn't have many of them rated very high but there were 3 or 4 MI's drafted in Round 13. Edit: RHP Jacob Barnes out of FL Gulf Coast University in the 14th.
  7. Pick 281 (Round 9): CF Malcolm Dowell I would really like to see some MI depth soon. 3B would be nice as well.
  8. Brewers take CF Michael Reed at 161 (5th round).
  9. Maybe we just killed 2 birds with 1 stone. Future 1st baseman and closer. First 40/40 guy (40 HR/40 Saves)?
  10. I think every team will almost always say they picked "the best player available." They don't want to come out and say "there were better players but we didn't want them." I want to restock on pitching too but I would've liked to have seen one position player in the first 4-5 picks. Hopefully there's a good one to take with that 5th pick.
  11. When will they take a position player?
  12. Kevin just drafted by Seattle at 92. Would've liked to have had him but there are questions about his D. I guess defense hasn't stopped the Brewers this year so it probably wouldn't have mattered.
  13. I heard he was drilled in the knee the day before so he probably "admired' the HR a little bit longer because of that. Then there was probably some jawing from the pitcher and that prompted the kiss. I'm not sticking up for him but the kid is still only 18. He's also been the best player in every league he's played in so that no doubt has inflated his ego. I don't like the showboating either but a lot of kids his age with his talent would probably do some of the same stuff. Hopefully he grows up a little soon because if he's still doing that stuff in the majors, he better have some ice-packs ready.
  14. Exactly. I would've been fine with one of Jungmann/Bradley (Jungmann over Bradley) paired up with someone like Gray/Guerrieri. I understand wanting to move pitchers quickly through the system but why sacrifice talent just to do so? I just wish with 2 picks they would've gone one safe and one high risk/high reward pick. With the state of our farm sytem, a high reward pitcher really could have made a difference if he panned out but wouldn't really hurt if he didn't.
  15. Wow, Prince is just terrible defensively. Just about every other first-basemen make that play.
  16. Agree with this. These guys might have a lot of average tools (nothing below-average) but that's not what you're looking for in the first round. I want someone who's above-average/great at something, not just average all around.
  17. Alright Casey should be hitting no higher than 7th after tonight.
  18. I would've liked to have seen Cron at 15. We already got one college pitcher, I didn't think we needed another if it wasn't going to be Gray.
  19. From what I've read, I agree with those who say high floor/low ceiling. I really wanted something more out of the 12 spot.
  20. Agree. I really wanted Lindor/Baez and if both were gone, then I wanted Gray. There's still a shot at 15, though I wouldn't mind a bat there.
  21. McGehee has to be dropped down in the order if he goes hitless again today. There's no reason to keep him behind Prince because teams will start pitching around him.
  22. Well that sucks, I really hoped one of Lindor/Baez would be available. I hate the Cubs even more now.
  23. That's going to be a lot of threads to keep an eye on.
  24. Wow, that was a horrible AB. Gomez scores on that, though he may not have reached base.
  25. Just saw Mike Fetters is the DBacks rep at the draft. Didn't know he was still affiliated with the org.
