  1. Wrong, there was one run. Could've been more were it not for good defense.
  2. How so? Ostentatious celebrating, rubbing it in to surrounding fans, I think more class and reserve is in order when you are in someone else's park. (Probably an embellishment to say as bad as Cubs fans at MP, they weren't that beligerant or entitled-looking.) Are you watching a different broadcast? All I saw was smiles from Brewer fans. I would be smiling too.
  3. Alright can Roenicke finally realize Loe is not "an 8th inning" guy. Seriously, this crap is getting old.
  4. My thoughts too. Also, I thought Schroeder said that Roenicke said he didn't want to use Hawkins two days in a row. Hopefully this means Braddock in the 8th. I still probably would've at least let Dillard start the inning with all the righties coming up, with Braddock warming up.
  5. Nope first pitching swinging. Terrible. What makes it terrible? He saw a pitch he liked and tried to go to right. The results weren't good but terrible is a pretty big statement. I generally don't like swinging at the first pitch when a new pitcher comes into the game. Especially a rookie pitcher who has control problems.
  6. BA said that foul ball almost wiped out Betancourt. Darn, almost got a gift there.
  7. I just looked and Narveson has given up 4 3-run HRs and 2 grand slams this year (all in separate starts). He also gave up a 2-run HR in the 7 run inning against the Reds. With the exception of about 2 games, Narveson has given up all his runs in one innings, mostly from the big HR. So yeah, he actually does deal for 4 innings and then gets lit up.
  8. Pitcher's spot is due up 2nd. So if someone comes in, it will only be for the 5th inning. Thanks, I guess I couldn't think straight with all this anger.
  9. Why isn't Mitre, one of 2 of our long relievers, getting ready? Instead Dillard, one of our 2 ROOGYs is going to come in and pitch multiple innings?
  10. Seriously what the hell is wrong with Narveson? He dominates for four innings every start and then blows up.
  11. Glad McGehee got that hit and I hope he keeps it going. That being said, this buys him another month in the 5 hole, no matter what he does. I still like McGehee but he should be hitting behind Hart.
  12. I feel good when I'm at the plate but I'd probably go 0-4 too. Can I be the new 3rd baseman?
  13. Hart and Lucroy with base hits, McGehee and Betancourt with fielder's choices. I would like to see Hart, Lucroy, McGehee, Betancourt for one game. I don't understand why that would be so hard.
  14. Yeah as soon as I finished typing my sentence, I heard Schroeder say something about why the number 5 spot is so important after Prince got walked. I would think he's referencing the fact that McGehee has been awful there.
  15. I'm guessing at least 75% of the fans at Miller Park have no idea who Green is. And knowing the Brewers, Melvin will act on it thinking the fans mean Sean Green. I guarantee that is the case. Just scrolling through different comment sections today (Facebook, JSOnline, Brew Crew Ball), the majority of people were calling for Gamel to be called up to take over for McGehee. I understand that most people don't follow the minors like we do but most fans should know that Gamel (one of our top "prospects") is being groomed to take over for Prince's departure. Then again, these same fans still think we should (and actually have a shot to) resign Prince.
  16. I was reading an older article on Adam McCalvy today kind of talking about this. He said the announcers are employees of the Brewers but he's an employee of MLB Media. When he's writing his usual stuff for mlb.com, he can basically say what he wants. But if he writes for the brewers.com, he would have to be more careful about what he says. I'm sure the same applies to BA and Schroeder. It is definitely annoying though. I think they could at least act like they are impartial every once in awhile.
  17. It sounds like there's a chance we could see Nieves back in a Brewers uniform again this season. From Roenicke: "We do stress defense with the backup catcher -- I think that’s probably the most important thing," manager Ron Roenicke said. "But there’s also a certain amount of offense that you need to contribute. We don’t feel that Wil is a .160, .170 hitter. He’s not a .300 hitter, either; he was here for defense. "But we still need to have some offense there. We need to try to get his swing back. It’s very difficult to do when you’re only catching every five days. Hopefully he’ll go back and get his swing back, and then we’ll see what happens." I really hope this is just manager-speak but I'm not so sure. I can just picture Kottaras hitting like .225 (.325/.400) with Nieves hitting something like .275 (.295/.300) in the minors and Roenicke thinking that Nieves found his stroke back. Then Nieves will be back up, only to suck it up again. With Roenicke mentioning batting average, I really wonder if he even takes on-base or slugging into account.
  18. What a surprise, the Cubs first baseman picks a low throw and Yuni swings at the first pitch.
  19. That 2-seamer was nasty. I really hope Zambrano doesn't have that all night.
  20. He would need to have one for this to work.
  21. I just read this article about Hawkins telling Roenicke he wanted a bigger role. This is the part that stuck out for me: While Loe continues to fill-in for injured Takashi Saito as Milwaukee’s eight-inning man, Roenicke has been mixing and matching in the seventh. He’d like to find some stability there, and Hawkins could be the pick if he continues to get such positive results. “We’re trying to find who’s going to be that guy,” Roenicke said. “I thought it was going to be Estrada for a while. He’s struggled lately. [Tim] Dillard has probably thrown good enough to slip in there. Then ‘Hawk,’ with his numbers and how he’s been doing, he’s a guy that I think I should put in there also.” So according to this, his bigger role will be that of a seventh-inning pitcher? I thought that was already what he was being used as. Also, from this and Roenicke saying Loe didn't pitch the 8th last night because he had pitched 3 days in a row, it seems that Roenicke is still intent on using Loe as the 8th inning man. I still don't understand why there needs to be a set role for each inning (except the 9th). Play the matchups, see who's been pitching well, see who's tired, etc. There are so many factors that should come into play; the inning should factor minimally. Even when Saito comes back, I don't think he should be used exclusively in the 8th because it could wear him out.
