  1. Baseball is a crappy sport bcause you have to concede at least 60 losses. If you can get past that, it isn't so bad http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  2. I agree. If the Brewers win every game, they would be good. Losses suck but let's keep things in perspective.
  3. How come football fans don't insist on their head coach getting kicked out of games from time to time?
  4. Probably....the roles are Villy 7th inning, Mota 8th inning, Torres 9th inning. Not sure about Shouse or Dillard. But we know the rest of the roles. I wish Villy had the 3+ inning roll. It would have been nice to pull Bush in the first for a pinch hitter and just let Villy go.
  5. Wow. Bush's night is over. DeFelice?
  6. That was a lot of fun to watch.
  7. Ugh, that's annoying. Does that mean Counsell is leading off? Um, he is playing second base, isn't he? You could never be a manager. You don't have the "stuff".
  8. Hey, I'm not trying to stop anyone from making their predictions. But if people want to share them, I should also feel free to comment on them if I want. I just think the IGT predictions run on the silly side, since they are usually very extreme (Manyan will hit 2 bombs!) and often based on some Brewer myth (Brewers can't hit a starting pitcher that they've never seen before). But I say, keep them coming! You made a prediction. I made a prediction. Let's see who's right. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  9. Yes, fare was what I meant. And no, I didn't close the book on the Brewers possibly having below average base runners as a whole. Now did I even suggest that they don't have room to improve. I just showed that, at least for this year so far, they are no where near the worst (again, if my estimates were correct). I just find it odd that fans convince themselves that their team is alway the worst at everything, despite having no good way to determine how good everyone else even is. I mean, they just MUST be the worst, right?
  10. I'd be tempted to go the blogger route as well. The software is so easy to use and you can add photos easily.
  11. Don't you find his reasoning for doing things borderline absurd, and something to be concerned about? Of course I do, which is why I compared it to his own stupidity scale. But half his silly moves are the same ones his replacement should make, so I can't justify directing all my frustration at just Yost. Blame baseball for being so damn archaic when it comes to acceptable in-game management. Most managers lean heavily on "The Book" to try and PROTECT them from scrutiny. How ironic. I am not convinced that Yost's replacement would be any better and fact depresses me.
  12. OK, so now that we've blown this myth out of the water, who's going to prove that the Brewers face no worse against pitchers they've never faced than any other team. I can't do it all by myself! What's ironic is that I know I do the same thing with football. I love football but I am no student. Like any other average fa, that won't stop me from making the same, cliched and probably incorrect observations about my beloved Packers. So I hope no one takes me scrutinizing their comments personally.
  13. I'm callin it. He gives up 1 hit thru 6 innings. I'm calling it. You are wrong.
  14. It is a mental illness sweeping like the plague through all of baseball. And that's really the problem. We can get the pitchforks out and run Yost out of his current position but there's little chance that the next manager wouldn't make the same mistakes. What we are sick of is managers using "The Book" as a crutch to justify not even trying to think for themselves.
  15. Maybe that's why Yost is riding the hot Kapler? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  16. Really, what is supposed to get me excited about Weaver: http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?n=Jeff%20Weaver&pos=P&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=213711 5.51 ERA in 49 IP in AAA? Yuck His 6 K/9 and 3 BB/9 would be around average had it come in the majors, but against AAA batters, not so exciting. He's given up a bunch of bombs, which I would dismiss as just small noise if he also hadn't had the same tendency in 2006 and 2007 in over 300 innings of work. So, he was bad in 2006 and 2007 in the majors and has been slightly below average in the minors this year. Someone give me a reason why he should even be up for consideration? Here are my choices for the #5 spot, in order of preference: Villy - McClung - DiFelice - Weaver
  17. Giving the ball to any reliever in the 8th with a 3 run lead is usually going to result in a win, so TH's comment seems pretty silly to me. Would I have rather seen Villy there? Absolutely. But on a Yost Stupidness scale, this one is pretty low, IMO.
  18. mota has been good in the 8th way more times then not. Yeh, 2 months out of the last 3 years. But baseball fans think players change overnight, for some odd reason.
  19. I have no idea if other teams also make the same number of bonehead mistakes as the brewers, as opposed to aggressive baserunning where the other team has to make a good or perfect play to get the out. If you've watched Brewer games this year, you've seen some pretty bad baserunning from the opposing team as well.
  20. This should be normalized against OBP, or something -- the Nats are on the bottom, probably because they can't get on base. Yeh, well they have a pretty low LOB as well. Bill would be proud! I just wanted to point out that all the noise about the Brewers making a ton of base running errors is bologna, from what I can tell. if someone want to prove me wrong, they'll have to go through the game logs and find a bunch of ROEs. Does GDP mean "grounded" strictly? Ha. Never thought about it. I guess I don't know.
  21. But after hitting terribly for two months (one month for Cam), the projections of the other guys will have been negatively affected True but not by much at all. 10%? Also, I don't really see the big deal overall. I'm supposed to be alarmed that Hardy has an OPS+ that's 9 points lower than average for his position over the first 2 months? Weeks is really the only guy I'd be worried about at all. You asked if there was any reason to hope these guys would turn it around. Other than Kendal, the answer is yes. Kendall is what he is, Lasik surgery and all!
  22. Take a look at my projection vs. actual thread to get an idea of what we should reasonably be expecting from those guys. Kendall is the only guy hitting at his projection.
