1. I'd love to see this lineup tom: Weeks Hardy Fielder Hall Jenkins Estrada Gross Counsell Suppan Too much to ask?
2. Graffy Counsell Pitcher Gwynn All in a row.
3. Dear lineup, I don't really care what order you are in, as long as you produce some runs. Please do so. Your friend, rluz
4. GABE GROSS is batting leadoff Yes, he's just killing this team!
5. Missed the game but this thread was just silly. This game must have really confused those who think "small sample" is just some silly excuse that nerds use when trying to defend their pet players.
6. The Brewers won a bunch of games they probably should have lost and now things are evening itself out. I'll take being 10 games over .500 in May any time. I'm just glad I've been out of town and haven't had to watch the last couple of games. The box scores have looked awful!
7. All I know is that I swear the HDMI output looks like crap on that box (not to mention the delay while switching channels is maddening).
8. With that said, BA is still a useful stat. There's no single measure that defines a player, offensively. Agreed.
9. Gross is terrible, bottom line. That is one thing Tim Allen and Sparky have nailed. The dude cannot do anything this year. Yeh, they really nail observing how well a player has done in the recent past. Takes a special kind of guy to be able to do that. That sound you hear is Derrick's wheels coming off.... again. Did he look bad tonight (didn't see the game) or did he look OK until giving up the HR?
10. What has happened this year is data, and would be foolish to ignore altogether. Unless the Brewers pitching staff has noticed something different (Bush is injured, mechanical issues, etc...) if you manage based on small samples, you will manage inefficiently. You need to look at the sum of the data, not just the mirage of a trend that's statistically insignificant. I know you don't believe it but if you looked into the matter, I am convinced you'd change your mind. Hell I worry a lot more about Sheets, who's at least exhibited a problem with his mechanics, than Bush. There is simply no reason to think this Bush is different than last year's or the year before.
11. plus Bush has given up a lot of XBH this year. Career vs. 1 month. One month wins! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif GO GET EM TOMORROW, BREWERS!
12. They weren't so horrible the last couple of years, Russ. Unless you want to show me how big losses historically resulted in losing streaks for the Brewers above what would be expected, I'm going to assume you pulled that out of the baseball cliche book. This is one loss and I think the Brewer's talent will serve them well this year.
13. I really liked Yost hooking Bush for Wise -- that was awesome, but the 8th inning was mind-boggling. And I didn't at all. Bush has a history of pitching deep into games and getting STRONGER as he goes on. He gave up two bloop singles and gets pulled. If you always pull a starter at the earliest sign of trouble, you burn out your bullpen and have Shouse pitching against righties in the 8th. Yost remembers the last half dozen games and manages based on their results. I understand when fans have a tendency to do that but Yost can't afford to manage like that.
14. Historically, these last couple of losses were the kind that sent us into a 3-7 stretch of games. The Brewers being a horrible team is what historically sent the Brewers into a bad stretch, so let's not get carried away.
15. Can someone please paste this on Yost's office door: Shouse, career: IP H HR BB K WHIP BAA vs. Left 133.0 108 11 30 120 1.04 .220 vs. Right 100.0 125 10 58 37 1.83 .310A career 1.83 WHIP against righties!? And why would Yost warm up Cordero if there was virtually no scenario in which he would pitch? I don't understand. Yost is so crippled by "the book" that he can't think for himself. I'm not saying the Brewers would have won this if not for these moves but man, they sure didn't help.
16. Last time Turnbow came in to start the 8th with a 4 run lead everyone yelled at Yost about not wasting him... which one is it~ Shouse shouldn't be brought in to face righties ever. I'll take Spurling or anyone else over Shouse's 80 MPH fastball against a righty.
17. At least Cordero will be rested for whenever he can record a save on a 3 run lead. Gatta pad those stats.
18. Now that it's a tie game with the bases loaded, you OBVIOUSLY can't use your best reliever? Cordero down, Sperling up. The logic is mind blowing.
19. I'm never going to understand how the Brewers choose what reliever to put it. No rhyme or reason.
20. It doesn't look like Turnbow appreciates being put in the game with runners at 2nd and 3rd with no out.
21. Forgive me if this was explained on-air, since I'm watching the game on mute, but why did Ned go with Shouse instead of Turnbow to start the 8th? Gut feeling?
22. Shouse should never used against anyone not exclusively a left handed hitter. I was hoping that was made clear last year.
23. Against a lefthander, Mench and Hart are the obvious choices to start.
24. Wise has the most effective junk you could imagine.
25. Wow, the Mets just pulled another old Brewer move. TWO runs scored on a shallow fly ball!? Just keep giving runs away, please.
