  1. Jenkins has found some interesting ways to get on base in 4 of his last 6 PAs.
  2. Bases loaded, 1 out and Ohka up. Here's an excellent situation where a K would be great. Pitch 3 - Unknown strike HUH?
  3. Hall now has only 2 less HRs than Lee. Insane.
  4. Or should I refrain from Jenkins talk all together? If that's what it takes to keep this from being another Jenkins thread.... maybe? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  5. Request. Can we please not fill 50% of this thread up with Jenkins bashing. He's having a horrible year. It's suprising he's playing at all at this point. We all know this. Please? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  6. Wow, another thread full of Jenkins bashing. What a refreshing and interesting topic.
  7. A significant amount of a thrown ball's velocity is developed from the lower body so, I'd say a lot. No idea about specific numbers, however.
  8. Compared to last year, Sheets currently has a: ? lower walk rate ? higher strikeout rate ? lower home run rate ? lower line drive percentage Here's his problem this year, in a nutshell: http://www.fangraphs.com/graphs/710_P_season_full_7_20060822.png and: http://www.fangraphs.com/graphs/710_P_season_full_8_20060822.png While his reduced velocity in the last outing shouldn't be ignored, I think most of his struggles this year is a result of bad luck with balls-in-play. He has maybe 7 more starts to try and prove that theory.
  9. You're estimate for Shouse is probably a little high and my guess is that Helling is gone at the end of the season replaced by Villeneuava. RLUZ, you think the only roster change is going to be letting gonzalez walk and bringing up eveland? I was trying to be very conservative and bloat the team salary whenever possible. You know, as oppossed to assuming the Brewers could trade away dead weight and sign/trade for every player they want http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif . It was more of an exercise of "worst case scenario" than me making a guess at what I think will actually happen. I was pleasently suprised to see that even in that scanario, there's money left over. I'd be tempted to upgrade the bullpen, personally. So don't try to project Fielder at say $340,000. He's much more likely to be in the $500,000 range. That's not going to have a very large effect on the overall budget. Maybe a million total?
  10. Bell is 34 years old and has this career batting line: .256 /.319 /.394 /.713 No amount of barrel rolls into 3B makes up for that. With both Hall and Hardy needing find time in the infield next year, there's no need for a guy like Bell to be on the team. Hardy is probably the superior offensive guy and Hall can at least match Bell's defense at 3B.
  11. As long as Turnbow can't throw his off speed pitch for strikes, batters will sit on his fastball. No pitcher can get away with that.
  12. Any 06 salary projection starting with a trade of Jenkins and his entire $7 mil salary is an unrealistic one, IMO. If the Brewers do trade him this off season, they'll almost certainly be eating a majority of that. That said, here's my "safe" projection: http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7391/569/1600/payroll2007.gif I'm $4 mil over this thread's budget but if I had to get under $60 mil, I'd probably let Ohka walk and bring up a young kid. In reality, it looks like we'll need to start a "The $70 million dollar challange" thread.
  13. The stats forum is a way to archive past statistical related threads and have stat questions answered. I think (hope) it serves a useful purpose.
  14. Hardball Times has some interesting statistics: LINK Fangraphs is another good one.
  15. I don't know if you have a stack of those graphs sitting on your hard drive or what, but do you have one of Turnbow for comparison? Wasn't his LOB% really high last year? Those graphs are from www.fangraphs.com. Just a great site. Turnbow's LOB% was silly high last year. This is what I wrote about him before the season started: LINK His LOB% went from 88% last year to a well below average 62% this year (league average is about 71%).
  16. With Clemens going tomorrow, this one needs to be won.
  17. catcher at 2B + Hart with 0 sacrifices in career + everyone is anticipating sacrifice = don't do it, Yost!
  18. That Hall kid has a sweeeeeet swing.
  19. Wow. That was a very poor play by Ohka. He was going to shovel home, like there was a force there. Crazy.
  20. A good manager would be riding the player with the hot bat (Rivera). Good managers do the exact opposite of what you are proposing.
  21. And then of course a double play http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif Can't they just strike out, like the good ol' days?
  22. Bell gets an RBI without ever taking the bat off the shoulder. Sounds good to me.
