  1. Do suppose that has anything to do with the fact the a pitcher would be facing #3 or #4 around those pitches? I'msure that's part of it, but it makes up such a HUGE part of the total runs that it's hard to ignore' Lee swings at garbage... wow.
  2. Not including today, Sheets has given up 19 of his 39 runs between pitches 16-30. Over half! Heh, I was going to add the run he gave up today, but then realized it wasn't ater pitch 15. By then, of course, the number 20 stuck in my mind, which would have made it "over hald the time!", provided you didn't add it to the totalhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif How about "almost half the time!"
  3. Not including today, Sheets has given up 19 of his 39 runs between pitches 16-30. Over half!
  4. Why don't all our super-smart coaches figure out how to prepare Sheets to be ready to pitch in the first?
  5. Overbay has 63 lousy AB against lefties this year, so it doesn't really tell you much. It was pretty silly of Yost to start benching Overbay against them, since he has batted .295 against them in the last 3 years (237 AB). Yes, small sample alert! Remember earlier in the year when everyone was convinced that Jenkins all of a sudden could hit lefties? I even got to suffer through Bill's explanation as to what Jenkins had changed. Yehhhhh.
  6. Can Sheets pitch a pretend inning before the game starts, so he doesn't start the game with a straight curve and a 92 MPH fastball?
  7. Except that you only increase you chance of scoring by 3% on average. Apparently it is easier to ignore the facts than realize bunting almost never makes sense. It only makes sense with a pitcher; that's really about it. I look forward to the day when managers don't just copy old managers for lack of a better plan. Anyway, great game. The bullplen won this one. nice to see DLR and Eveland pitch well.
  8. As a final comment about sacrificing to get a runner at 3rd with 1 out. Between 199-2002, In that exact situation, exactly 0 runs were scored 1 in 3 times. That's right, 33% of the time 0 runs were scored. Must just be the bad teams.
  9. HAHA! I guess Yost has to write a book in response to LaRussa's. All laRussa's antics did was make himself lose veryyyyy slowley.... Glad I stuck this out.
  10. A good team can score a guy from 3rd with one out. Newsflash...this isn't a good hitting team. Then, by your rational, shouldn't the Brewers have NOT sacrified the runner over? You are talking in circles. I disagreed because the numbers say,on average, even if you get the sac down 90% of the time, it's not worth it. With Clark up there, it's DEFINETELY not worth it. I know, stupid numbers.
  11. Wow, fastball after fastball... and Pujols could NOT catch up. Nice.
  12. The only benefit of sacrificing there is if Weeks hit's a flyball deep enough to score the runner. An average batter hit's a flyball 33% of the time. Obviously, out of that 33%, only a portion of those fly balls are deep enough to score a run. Meanwhile, teh guy who sacrified gets a hit (that probably scores the runner 80% of the time) about 32% of the time. Doesn't add up at all. It's simply done because that's what managers do... they copy old managers like monkeys.
  13. ...I mean, because if I had 3 outs left in a game, I would certainly give one of them away for the 80% chance of getting 1 extra base. I mean, why wouldn't you?
  14. Did I mention that I love giving outs away?
  15. Yipee, a sacrifice by the batter with the highest batting average.
  16. Pull DLR there... WHY? I am getting really annoyed.
  17. I don't get having Lee that deep there. Sheesh.
  18. "Here we go again" ~Sutton on on a full count by DLR When DON'T they ride the bullpen? Sheesh.
  19. Lazzzzzy popup http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  20. I give up trying to understand bullpen moves. I
  21. What I already had typed: Sure am glad Hall took over Branyan's spot. Atleast Hall cries about balls and strikes every AB. Our coaching staff must be REALLY happy about his "fire." What I'm saying instead, "YES!" Nice!!!! I NEVER gave up on this game!!! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
