  1. The Brewers lost because they got ouplayed over 6 games by a team that was similar in talent. It happens. I don't understand why we always have to fabricate some other explanation for these kind of things.Just to be absolutely clear Russ, I was not pointing at "Beast Mode" as to why the Brewers lost this series. It just got plain tired after a while.I understand you aren't trying to blame this series loss on Sully. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

  3. How much money the Brewers have tied up already next year? Is that $64 mil on BF.net salary page correct? Hopefully that means they have $25 to play with.
  4. Come on now you can't simplify any sport like this. If it WAS possible, the answer is obviously not defense looking at the last 4 teams standing this year, Milwaukee STL Texas Detroit. Right, no need to throw around tired cliches. It's the combination of hitting, pitching and fielding that wins championships. Melvin put together a decent hitting team this year but at the expense of fielding. The team projected to be a very poor fielding team and they lived up to it.
  5. The Brewers have to pay Greinke $13.5 mil next year and he's not even going to post a sub 3 ERA? Trade him! Seriously though, my expectations were never even close to sub 3.
  6. Yeh, I'm not so sure Fielder has even peaked yet. That said, whomever pays for his best years will also have to pay for his declining ones as well. I'm fine with letting him walk but it's nothing personal.
  7. Come on the series has gone 6 games. Losing in 6 games is like losing two 3-game series. I think that qualifies as getting your butt kicked. You are entitled to your opinion that that pretty silly to me. While I'm very unhappy how this season looks like it's going to end, I see no reason to try and artificially diminish what the Brewers did this season. Losing in 6 in the NCLS sucks but there is no need for the Brewer players are their fans to hang their heads low. Now let's see if the Brewers can do the unlikely and crawl back into this!
  8. I will turn it of the milisecond after that last out is made.
  9. Not that I think it will happen but if they win the next two games, of course they do.
  10. I'm still trying to figure out why RR just didn't go with Hawkins in the 2nd. He was already warming up. There's no reason for a pitcher to bat at all when you go to your bullpen in the 2nd inning. It just seems like the book says that if you want to go to your long reliever, he must immediately follow the starting pitcher.
  11. Isn't this what a manager is supposed to do? Knowing when to go with a player, even though the math suggests it's not the best move. The correct answer is not always the one that the math suggests will be correct. Yes. Exactly. Statisticians will never accept the fact that there are factors that numbers cannot account for, however. And even if they do, they figure that since they themselves are unable to see these factors nobody else can see these factors either (i.e. even managers who have spent their entire lives analyzing and playing the game of baseball). Still, Kotsay should never start in CF :P That is just silly. Scientists and engineers make models all the time and none of them quantify every variable. What I'm not going to is assume a person of questionable intelligence can make more accurate predictions simply because he played and managed it. Half the time RR's explanations are nonsensical, which give me good reason to give him the doubt.
  12. I care about results There you go.
  13. I'm sure Weeks' ankle is still bothering him but he could have one leg and still be better than Counsell. Weeks has put up a .198/.317/.342/.659 line since returning to action which obviously isn't good but that's still better than what we should expect from Counsell. And I would expect even an injuried Weeks to do much better than that. Braun, Fielder, Weeks and Hart need to be in the lineup. It's time for RR to stop going with silly gut decisions (Kotsay) and play his best players.
  14. Greinke performed better on the road last year and hasn't pitched well at home in the playoffs. You don't reshuffle the rotation based off of random splits.
  15. YES! Now it's the Cardinals that have all the pressure on them. A loss tomorrow and they will have to win TWO games at Miller Park to advance. Cardinal fans will be calling tomorrow a must win. The playoffs are kinda fun!
  16. I hope your seriously not comparing people wanting to sit Hart a day to actually thinking people would want to sit an MVP because he had one bad game. Sometimes you have to over exaggerate so it is clear what a bad decision that clearly was.. If Hart is sick enough that he can't play, it wasn't a bad move at all. But RR has shown a propensity to sit Hart when he deems him "cold", despite Hart being the 3rd best hitter on the team. Makes me wonder. TWO OUTS!!!!
  17. Braun is obviously cold. RR should start Kotsay tomorrow in his place.
  18. No, I said I thought it was a horrible decision prior to the game - the results proved it wasn't a horrible decision and actually was a damn good one from an offensive perspective. If your going to pass judgement on his decision, then you surely need to look at the results of the decision - not the prediction of the results. A person hands you a 6 shooter with 5 bullets and says they will give you $10 for playing Russian Roulette. You say "deal!", give the cylinder a spin and pull the trigger. Nothing happens and the man hands you $10. You would say that the results proved that it was a good choice. I would say it was just about the worst decision a human being could make.
  19. It's probably already been said but a win today makes the Brewers the favorites for the series.
  20. I have pointed this out a million times and I will do it again today. There is NO evidence that a starting pitcher who performs well for the first 5-6 innings do better than expected going forward. It's not true. They don't. It's a complete myth. Wolf is something like a true 3.8 pitcher on average (just guestimating there) and probably a 4.25+ ERA pitcher at this point in a game. Even an average reliever is will perform better on average. Those are the facts.
  21. I am so going to laugh when RR pulls Wolf this inning. Laugh through my tears of shame for rooting for a team that is headed by an idiot.
  22. So Narveson or Estrada should have gotten the start because Wolf struggled in his first post season start... and now he gives up 2 runs in 5, so we has to be left in there, despite having 2 runners on. You guys are crazy.
  23. Brewers have one of the best bullpens in the league but we leave our 4th best starting pitcher in there so that he can maybe pitch one more inning? And of course, our backup left handed catcher has to bat against a lefty so that he can catch for him? Not happy.
